ture from 0°C to 100.0°C(32.0°F to 212.0°F); the product can be used as an ear
thermometer to measure body temperature, but t also can be used to mea-

How the Digital Infrared Ear Thermom-
eter Measures Ear Temperature
The Dgtal Infrared Ear Thermometer measures nfrared energy radated from
the eardrum and the surroundng tssue. Ths energy s collected through the
lens and coverted to a temperatured value. The measured readng obtaned
drectly from the eardrum (Tympanc Membrane) can ensure the most accu-
rate ear temperature. Measurements taken from the surroundng tssue of the
ear canal generate lower readngs and may result n msdagnoss of a fever.

To avoid an inaccurate measurement
• SwitchonthethermometerbypressingtheON/OFFbutton.
• Afteronebeepisheard(andthetemperaturescaleiconisashing),straighten
theearcanalbygentlypullingthemiddleoftheearbackandup.
• Placetheprobermlyintotheearcanal,presstheStartbuttonandkeepthe
probeintheearuntilthethermometerbeepstoidentifythecompletionofthe
measurement.

Directions For Use
Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the
unt, all segments wll be shown for 2 seconds
The last measurement readng wll be shown on the
dsplay automatcally for two seconds wth the “MEM”
con
When the °C or °F con s ashng, a beep sound s
heard and the thermometer s ready for the measu-
rement.
Straghten the ear canal by pullng the ear up and
back to gve a clear vew of the eardrum.
• For children under 1 year:
• Pull the ear straight back.
• Children aged 1 year to adult:
• Pull the ear up and back
Whle gently pullng the ear, nsert the probe snugly
nto the ear canal and press the“START” button.
Release the button and wat for the beep sound. Ths
s the ndcaton that confrms the end of measure-
ment.
Remove the thermometer from the ear canal.
The Led dsplays the measured temperature
NOTE: 10 short beeps will sound when the temperature is higher than
37.5°C (99.5°F) in order to alert the patient that he/she may have fever. In
order to assure the accurate reading, please wait at least 30 seconds after
3-5 continuous measurements.

Accumulaton of ear wax on the probe tp can result n less accurate tempera-
ture readngs or cross nfecton between users. Therefore, t s essental that a
clean probe tp s used before each measurement. For cleanng, please follow
the nstructons n the (Cleanng and Storage) secton.
After cleanng the probe tp wth alcohol, t s necessary to wat 5 mnutes be-
fore takng the next measurement, n order to allow the thermometer to reach
ts operatng reference temperature.
• Foraninfant,itisbesttohavethechildlayingatwithhisheadsidewayssothe
earisfacingupwards.Foranolderchildoradult,itisbesttostandbehindand
slightelytothesideofthepatient.
• Alwaystakethetemperatureinthesameear,sincethetemperaturereadings
maybedierentfromtherightearandleftear.
• Pleasewaitforafewminutestotaketheeartemperatureaftersleeping.
• Inthefollowingsituationsitisrecommendedthatthreetemperaturesinthe
sameearbetakenandthehighestonetakenasthereading
1. Newborninfantsintherst100days.
2. Childrenunderthreeyearsofagewithacompromisedimmunesystemandfor
whomthepresenceorabsenceoffeveriscritical.
3. WhentheuserislearninghowtousetheIRthermometerforthersttimeuntil
he/shehasfamiliarizedhimself/herselfwiththeinstrumentandobtainsconsist-
entreadings.
Changing from Fahrenheit to Celsius
and Vice-versa
The Dgtal Infrared Ear Thermometer can dsplay temperature measurements
In ether Fahrehelt or Celsus. To swtch the dsplay between °C and °F, smply
turn OFF the unt, press and hold the Start button for 5 seconds; When you
stop pressng the Start button after 5 seconds, the current measurement sca-
lef C or °F con) wll be ashed on the dsplay. Toggle the measurement scale
between °C and °F by pressng the start button agan. When the measurement
scale has been chosen, wat for 5 seconds and the unt wll enter the ready for
measurng mode automatcally.

Cleaning and Storage
Use and alcohol swab or cotton tssure mstened wth alcohol (70% Isopropyl)
to clean the thermometer casng and the measurng probe. Ensure that no
lqud enters the nteror of the thermometer. Never use abrasve cleanng
agents, thnners or benzene for cleanng and nevermmerse the nstrument
n water or other cleanng lquds. Take care not to scratch the surface of the
LCD. Remove the battery from the nstrument f t s not requred for extended
perods of tme n order to avod damage to the thermometer resultng from
a leakng battery.

Comment fonctionne la mesure du Ther-
momètre Digital Auriculaire Infrarouge
Le Thermomètre Dgtal Aurculare Infrarouge mesure l’énerge nfrarouge
générée par le tympan et les tssus organques envronnants. Cette énerge
est mesurée par la lentlle et converte en température. La température prse
drectement sur le tympan permet la mesure la plus précse. Les tssus orga-
nques envronnants et le condut audtf donnent une température mons
élevée qu peut fausser le dagnostc de la fèvre.

Instructions d’utilisation
Appuyez sur e bouton ON/OFF. L’écran s’allume et ache
tous les segments d’achage pendant 2 secondes.

Quand le symbole °C ou °F clgnote, le thermomètre émet
un Bp sgnalant qu’l est prêt pour une mesure
Ajustez le condut audtf en trant doucement I’orelle vers
I’arrère et vers le haut afn de donner accès au tympan.
• Pour les enfants de moins d’Iun an:
- Trez doucement I’orelle vers I’arrère unquement.
• Au dessus d’un an et pour les adultes:
- Trez doucement I’orelle en arrère et vers le haut..

Tout en trant doucement sur I’orelle, placez I’embout dans
le condut audtf en drecton du tympan et appuyez sur
le bouton de prse de mesure “start”. Mantenez le bouton
enfoncé jusqu’à entendre un bp sgnalant le fn de la me-
sure.
Retrez le thermomètre du condut audtf. L’ècran ache la
température mesurée.
NOTE: Une alarme avec10 bp courts va sonner lorsque la température dépasse
37.5°C afn d’alerter sur la présence de fèvre. Après 3 ou 4 mesures de sute,
attendez au mons 30 secondes avant une nouvelle mesure. L’accumulaton
de cérumen à la ponte de l’embout peut condure à une mesure trop basse et
à une contamnaton entre les dérents utlsateurs. Il est donc très mportant
que l’embout sot nettoyé avant chaque utlsaton. Pour le nettoyage merc
de vous référez au chaptre entreten.Après nettoyage de l’embout avec de
l’alcool, l faut attendre 5 mnutes avant de prendre une nouvelle mesure afn
que le thermomètre retrouve sa température de fonctonnement.

ralementdiérenteentrel’oreilledroiteetl’oreillegauche.
• Auréveil,attendezquelquesminutesavantdeprendrevotretempérature.•Dans
lescassuivants,ilestrecommandédeprendre3foislatempératureetdene
retenirquelamesurelaplushaute:
1. Nouveauxnésdemoinsde100jours.
2. Enfantdemoinsde3ansdontlesystèmeimmunitaireestdécientetpourquila
présenceoul’absencedetempératureestcritique.
3. Lorsquevousêtesdébutantdansl’utilisationdethermomètresInfrarougeset
jusqu’àêtrebienfamiliariséaveccetinstrument.

Ce Thermométre Dgtal Aurculare Infrarouge possède 12 mémores. Pour
acher les dérentes mémores, étegnez le thermomètre pus appuyez une
seule fos sur le bouton de prse de mesure “start”. L’cone “MEM” clgnote sur
I’écran. Appuyez de nouveau sur le bouton “start” pour acher la mémore 1.
L’écran ache 1 pendant 1 seconde pus ache la température mémorsée
dans la mémore1. Appuyez de nouveau sur le bouton “start” pour acher
la mémore 2.. Vous pouvez ans fare défler les 12 mémores. Pour sortr du
mode mémore, étegnez le thermométre.
Changer d’unité de mesure Fahrenheit
ou Celsius
Ce Thermométre Dgtal Aurculare Infrarouge peut acher la température
mesurée sot en degré Celsus (°C) sot en degré Fahrenhet (°F). Pour passer
d’un achage en °C à °F, étegnez le thermomètre, pus mantenez le bouton
de prse de mesure « start » enfoncé pendant 5 secondes. Après 5 secondes
le mode d’achange courant s’ache, °C ou °F. Vous pouvez alors relâcher le
bouton « start » et passer d’un achage °C à °F en appuyant de nouveau sur
le bouton « start ». Lorsque vous avez chos le mode d’achage, vous devez
attendre encore 5 secondes et le thermomètre va s’allumer automatquement
et être prêt pour une mesure.
