7. Please use short hose connections with the greatest possible inner diameter to avoid pressure
losses.
8. Cut the stepped hose tail on the corresponding place.
9. Connect the hose with the stepped hose tail and seal it with a hose clamp.
10. Place a flat gasket (19) onto the thread of the stepped hose tail. After this push the thread of the
hose tail through the opening of the water inlet. Put a second flat gasket onto the thread from
inside and then screw the outlet nozzles from inside (18) onto the thread.
11. Now connect the other end of the hose with the pump.
12. For the normal filter operation leave the dirt outlet closed with its cover (17) and a sealing ring
(15). If you want to install a permanent 2-inch hose, remove the cover in order to install the hose.
13. Install the head cover.
14. Apply voltage to the filter. The filter starts running.
Note:
The Bio filter is a biological filter system and needs, if new installed some weeks till it reaches fully
biological efficiency.
Cleaning and maintenance
Attention! Before cleaning or maintenance work always disconnect the appliance!
The device should be cleaned only if required –see the dirt indicator (2). Chemical cleaning agents must
not be used because the bacteria in the filter sponge can be destroyed. As soon as the float of the dirt
indicator is visible, disconnect the device and open the head cover. Remove the filter sponges by holding
them by the grips (6). Press together the filter sponges for several times slowly against the grips (6, 9).
If necessary, rinse the filter sponges with clean tap water. Open the cover of the dirt outlet till the water
has been completely drained off.
For temperatures under 8°C or over 40°C you must stop the device! For this, empty the device and carry
out an effective cleaning. Remove all filter materials in order to dry them. For the winter keep the filter
materials in a dry place, protected from rust. Cover the filter housing in such a way so that no rain water
can penetrate inside. Empty all hoses, pipe lines and connections, if possible.
