1PURPOSE AND SAFETY
The tilting spreader bar is an add-on for the Luna IPx4 2 channel model. The tilting spreader bar
works as a dynamic positioning system (DPS) and will be referred to as DPS in this user guide.
The DPS is powered, meaning that it is operated by the Luna hand control. This allows for
powered patient positioning, resulting in less strain on the caregiver.
The DPS is rated for 275 kg.
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of the DPS is to ease the transition of a suspended person from (a) sitting position
to (b) lying down position. It also allows the caregiver to reposition the angle of the suspended
patient while in the sling to facilitate a more comfortable and optimal user position.
The DPS is suitable for all types of users, especially users having difficulty in reaching a 90-
degree sitting position, for example due to their medical condition.
After thorough cleaning the DPS can be used by multiple users (See 4.1).
NOTE: Do not use DPS for purposes other than originally intended.
1.2 Safety instructions
Important - Warning!
Read user manual and safety instructions before using the product.
•NEVER use the DPS if there are any indications of wear or suspicion of other defects on
the track systems, the Luna, accessories and the DPS itself. In such cases the DPS must be
taken out of service immediately and you must contact your dealer or Winncare Nordic.
•Take the necessary steps to ensure that neither caregiver nor patient can be injured
when carrying out lifts, transfers and tilts. Always check surroundings and move obstacles
out of the way.
•Always ensure that the sling is attached correctly, before lifting a patient.
NOTE: Read the user guide for Luna IPx4 before using the DPS.
1.3 Before use
The caregiver or user is responsible for making the following checks before use:
•The caregiver has received instructions or read the user manual for the DPS.
•Ensure that the annual service check has been carried out.
•If in doubt about how to use the DPS please contact your dealer or Winncare Nordic for
advice and guidance.

Check that all the parts are present and undamaged. Any suspicion of damage or shortage
should be reported to your dealer or Winncare Nordic.
We recommend that the packing carton is stored for later transport or return shipment.

1.6 Transport
If the DPS is to be transported between sites it is recommended to use the original packaging.
In case of return shipment of the DPS the original packaging must be used. If unable to do so
the user must find a suitable alternative that ensures proper protection of the DPS during
transport.
Symbols are printed on the packaging to ensure the best information for carrier companies.

2INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
2.1 Mounting of the DPS
Mounting the DPS
The DPS is mounted the same way as other Winncare
Nordic spreader bar models with strap.
1) Lift the spreader bar. Hold the strap and depress
the safety spring-plate on the hook.
2) Attach the hook onto the attachment point on
the spreader bar and release the safety spring
plate.
3) Ensure that the hook is safely locked onto the
spreader bar attachment point.
4) Connect the DC cable to the Luna. The socket is
located on the side opposite the hand control
socket.
The DPS is ready for use if the instruction has been
followed correctly.
Detaching the DPS
1) Detach the DC cable
2) Press in the spring-plate on the hook.
3) Tilt the hook to detach the spreader bar.
2.2 Operating the DPS

1) Connect the hand control to the Luna ceiling
hoist.
2) Press one of the horizontal buttons (A or B) to
activate the DPS.
Button A moves the DPS to the sitting position and button
B to lying position as seen in the pictogram.

3USING THE DPS
3.1 Compatible slings
Important - Warning!
Use only slings intended for the DPS.
The DPS is compatible with slings of the type “clip slings” as
seen on the right.
All 4 attachment points must be used to ensure the right
stability of the DPS.
Make sure all 4 clip fixings are mounted correctly on the
attachment points before carrying out a lift.
If in doubt contact Winncare Nordic for assistance choosing
the right sling.
3.2 Bed to chair
When lifting a patient from a bed the DPS should be
positioned in the lying position.
For a smooth transfer, the caregiver can use the bed’s
adjustment functions if available.
Position the patient in a semi-supine position and adjust the
DPS to place the patient in the best position. Doing this
allows easier access to the patient.
3.3 Chair to bed
When lifting a patient from a chair or similar the DPS
should be positioned in the sitting position.
If it is a wheelchair with an anti-tilt function, this can be
used to position the patient.
The DPS can be activated while attaching the sling to allow
easier access to the rear attachment points.

4MAINTENANCE
4.1 Cleaning
The DPS should be cleaned using a slightly damp cloth with a small quantity of standard
household cleaning agent or surgical spirit.
Strong chemicals or abrasive agents must not be used.
4.2 Storage
The DPS must be stored in a dry environment with relative humidity under 70%.
5CHECK, WARRANTY AND TROUBLESHOOTING
5.1 Annual check and warranty
The DPS must always be repaired and maintained by qualified personnel.
The manufacturer Winncare Nordic recommends that the DPS MUST be checked by a qualified
technician at least once a year in accordance to Winncare Nordic’s service instructions. An
annual service check is also recommended according to the European Standard (EN/ISO 10535)
for patient lifters/hoists including ceiling hoist.
It is the legal owner’s duty to ensure that these service checks are carried out on the product.
The following items is to be inspected during the annual check:
•Bolts
oCheck for loose bolts and nuts.
•Actuator
oCheck for unusual sounds.
oCheck piston rod for lubrication. Apply new if dried out.
•Strap attachment point
oCheck that the plastic cap with cable gland and cable are attached.
oCheck that the DPS can turn without turning the strap.
oCheck wire for cracks, etc.
•Overall condition
oCracks, wear and tear, etc.
If it is necessary to replace any parts due to wear or damage, Winncare Nordic recommends for
safety reasons to use only original spare parts. Use of non-original spare parts will void the
warranty.
Warranty
There is a 2-year warranty on the product conditional on annual service and maintenance being
carried out, according to the above service guidelines. See further warranty conditions on

5.2 Troubleshooting

Deactivate emergency stop. Press “R” button
on the hand control for 5 seconds.
The DC cable is not
properly connected.
Attach DC cable as seen in 2.1.
Check that the DC cable going into the actuator
is connected.
Defective hand control.
Check if up/down buttons on the hand control
works. If not try a different hand control or
order a new from the dealer or Winncare
Nordic.
