INTRODUCTION
FRONTPANELOVERVIEW
1. LCD Thedisplayisused fornavigatingmenus,displayingdata,andaffectingchange
on PANDA200’soptionsandparameters.
2.[VALUE] (PushtoEnter) Thisdialisusedforincrementingand decrementingPresets,
parametervaluesand settings. Thisdialalsofunctionsasan[ENTER] button when it is
pressed down.
3.[<] AND [>] BUTTONS Thesebuttonsareused fornavigatingthroughfieldsofmenus
and options.
4. [PRESET] Thisbutton callsupPreset Mode. You canselectand recall different
Preset programsinthismode.
5. [EDIT] ThisbuttoncallsupEdit Mode,whichallowsyou toedit thebehaviorofthe
pads, knobs, buttons, faders
6. [GLOBAL] ThisbuttoncallsupGlobalMode, whereMIDI reset commandsand
globalsystempreferencesareset.
7.[PROGRAMCHANGE] Pressingthisbutton will enterProgramChangemode.In
thismode, youcan send aProgramChangeorProgramwithBankChangemessagetoa
hardwareorsoftwaremodule.

8.[FULLLEVEL]. When [FULLLEVEL]isactivated,thepadsalwaysplayback ata
maximumvelocity(127),no matterhowhardorsoft you hit them.
9[16 LEVEL]. When [16 LEVEL]isactivated,youcan usethe 16padstochangea
selected sound’svelocityin16 steps.
10.[CONTROL BANK]. The PANDA200features2independentbanks ofcontinuous
controllers.Effectively,thisallowsyou tocontrolupto78independentparameterswiththe
knob,fadersandbuttonsonthe PANDA200.The [CONTROLBANK]buttonisusedto
switchamongthe 2banks.
11.PADBANK buttons.These3buttonsswitchamongpad banks A,B,C.Eachbankcan
address aunique set of16 soundsgivingyou accessofupto48 different soundsyou can
triggerwiththe pads.The currentlyselectedpadbankwillbeindicatedontheLCD display.
12 . 16 PRESSUREAND VELOCITYSENSITIVE PADS. The padscanbeused totrigger
drumhitstooursoftwareorhardwaremodule.The padsarepressureandvelocity
sensitive,whichmakesthemveryresponsiveand intuitivetoplay.
13.5 ASSIGNABLEKNOBS Each360-degree knobcan beusedtosend continuous
controldatatoadesktopaudioworkstation.Theseknobsshouldbeendless andcan send
MIDI notemessages.
14. 26ASSIGNABLEBUTTONS. Thesebuttonscanbeused asMIDI CC switches.

REARPANELOVERVIEW
1.DC POWERADAPTERINPUT Plugina9V 1ADC poweradapterifyou do notwish
topowerthe PANDA200 throughthe USB connection.
2. USBCONNECTION PlugastandardUSB cableintothisoutlet and intotheUSB port
ofyourcomputer.The computer’sUSB portwillprovide powertothe PANDA200.This
connectionisused tosend andreceiveMIDIdatatoand fromyourcomputerand may
alsobeused tosend MIDI datafromyourcomputertoadeviceattached totheMIDI OUT
port ofthe PANDA200.
3.MIDIOUT Useafive-pinMIDIcabletoconnectthe MIDIOUTofthe PANDA200 to
the MIDI INofan externaldevice.
4.MIDIIN Useafive-pinMIDIcabletoconnect the MIDIOUTofan externalMIDIdevice
totheMIDI INofthe PANDA200.
5. PedalA can beusedasMIDI CC switches.
6. Pedal B can beused asMIDI CC continues.

HOOKUPDIAGRAM
Pleaserefertothefollowingscenarioforconnectingthe PANDA200.
1.ConnectaUSBcablefromyourcomputertothePANDA200.Theunitwill bepowered
throughthe USB connection.Alternatively,ifyou donotwishtouseacomputerinyour
setuporifyou wishtopowerthe PANDA200 externally, pleasepluginthe included 9V-1A
DC poweradapter.
2.If youwouldliketouseanexternalsound module, connecta5-pinMIDIcablefromthe
MIDI OUTofthe PANDA200tothe MIDI INofthe externaldevice.
3.Ifyou wouldliketouseFootswitchesoranExpression PedalwiththePANDA200,
connectthe1/4"jack fromthe selectedpedalintotheappropriateplugon the
PANDA200.
ANOTEABOUTUSINGTHEPANDA200WITHSOFTWARE
1.Makesurethat thePANDA200andall externaldevicesareconnectedandthat the
USB cableisconnected toyourcomputerbeforeopeninganysoftwareapplications
withwhichyou intend tousethe PANDA200.Ifthe unitisnotplugged inbefore,your
softwareapplication might not recognizethe PANDA200 asan availabledevice.
2.Inyoursoftwareapplication,youwill need tosetthePANDA200 asadefaultMIDI
input device.Thisisusuallydone inthe MIDI section ofthe Preferencesmenu.

OPERATION
1. FULL LEVEL
When the [FULLLEVEL] button isactivated, thePANDA200 padsalwaysplayback at
maximumvelocity(127).Thisway, nomatterhowhardorsoft youhit apad, the
PANDA200 will alwaystriggerthe sound at itsmaximumvelocity(volume).
2. 16 LEVELS
When you press [16 LEVELS], you canusethe16 padstochangeaselectedpad’s
velocityin16 steps. Thisallowsyou tohavemorecontroloverthe velocityofthe desired
sound. When thisbutton ispressed the lastpad thatwashit getsmapped toall 16 pads.
Thepadsoutput thesamenotenumberand pressurecontrollerastheinitialpad, but the
velocityisfixed at thevaluesinthediagrambelow, regardless ofhowhardyou hit each
pad.

3. PADBANK
These3buttonsswitchbetween pad banks A, B, C. Youcanstoredifferent soundsin
eachone ofthe3different banks, givingyou access ofupto48 different soundsyou can
trigger.
When you Press [A], [B], or[C].The LCD will displaythe current Pad bank,andthenote
ofeachpad ischanged.When you edit thePaddata, Entertheglobalsettingand choose
saveglobal.All the settingswill besaved tothe current Pad.
4. PRESET
When the [PRESET] button isvalid,the PRESETMODEbeactivated. different preset
programscan beselected andrecalled.Apreset isacollection ofinformation about how
different sliders, knobs, and padswillbehave.
youcan changepresetswiththe [ <] or[ >] button,the numberofthe current presetwill
bedisplayed onthescreen, Pressing [ENTER] loadsthe selected Preset.
5. PROGRAMCHANGE
Youcanusethisbutton tochangetheprogram.
*SETPROGRAMCHANGE:You cansetwhichProgramChangeNumberthe pad will
transmit when it ispressed. Use[<] or[ >] buttontoselectProgramChangefield.While
inProgramChangefield,use[VALUE]dialtoselectdesired ProgramChangeNumber.
Pressing [ENTER] toconfirmthe value.

*SETBANKM:Use[<]or[>]button toselectBankMfield. WhileinBankMfield,use
[VALUE] dialtoselect desired value, Pressing [ENTER] toconfirmthe value.
*SETBANKL: Use[<] or[ >] buttontoselect ‘BankL’field.WhileinBankLfield, use
[VALUE] dialtoselect desired value, Pressing [ENTER] toconfirmthe value.
6. EDIT
When you press[EDIT] button,The LCD display‘CTLdata1’the EDITMODEbeactivated.
inthismode,youcanchangetheparametersofthepads,knobsandsliders.TheEDIT
MODEallowsyou tofullycustomizeand optimizeyourcontrollerforthe bestdesired
performance.
Thedifferent parametersthat youcanedit areorganized undertwodifferent pageson the
displayand aredescribed below.Dependingon whicheventtypeyouselecton Page1,
youwillbegiven different parameterswhichyou can edit onPage2,
Toselect the controlleryou wishtoedit, justmoveanyslider,knoborhitapad Thiswill
prompt the screentodisplaythepropertiesofthatparticularcontroller.Youcanselectthe
desired controllerwiththe [VALUE] dail.Pressing[ENTER]will confirmthe value.(Inedit
mode,Thereisnomessagecan besent).
6.1PADEDIT
Thepadscaneitherbesettotransmit Noteinformation,
Press the pad that you wouldliketoedit, Use[ <] or[ >] button toselect Notefield,The
LCD display ‘Pad_note’,turnthe [VALUE] dialtoselect ‘NOTE’.Press [ENTER] to
confirmthe ‘Note’..

6.2CONTROLEDIT
Theknobsandsliderscan beset totransmit specialvalue ofthe Control.
*SETCONTROLVALUE:Use[<]or[>]buttontoselectControlVALUEfield,The LCD
display ‘CTLdata2,WhileinControlVALUEfield,use[VALUE]dialtoselectdesired
ControllerVALUE.
7. TRANSPORTCONTROL
Thereare6buttonsusedfortransport control, [|<<],[<<],[>>],[O],[stop],[play].It iscommon
toset the 6buttonsasSequencerremotecontrolbuttons, it needstobeworkingwith
sequencersoftware.

8. GLOBAL
When you press[GLOBAL] button,the GLOBALMODEbeactivated,ithas7pagesinthis

It hastwotypeaboutthetransportbutton,theMMCtypeandthecontrolmessage
type.The MMCtypematchthe applicationsordevicethatonlyrespond toMIDImachine
controlmessage,The controlmessagetypematchtheapplicationsordevicethatrespond
toMIDI controlmessage.

Question: DoesthePANDA200 haveinternalsounds?
Answer: No.The PANDA200 isaMIDI-controller,whichmeansthat it doesnot
containanysoundsinsidebut isinstead used tocontrolexternalsound devices,
suchashardwareand softwaresynthesizers, sequencersand drummachines.
Question: DoI need touseapoweradapterifI amusingthe PANDA100witha
computer?
Answer: No.ThePANDA200will drawpowerdirectlyfromthe USB port. However,ifyour
USB port doesnotsupplyenoughpowerorifyou areusingaUSB hub, it maybe
necessarytouseapoweradapter.
Question: What softwareapplicationsisthe PANDA200 compatiblewith?
Answer: The PANDA200 iscompatiblewithanysoftwareorhardwaredevicewhich

Question: What typeofpadsisused onthePANDA200?
Answer: The PANDA200 featuresthe samepadsasthe MPC2500.
Question: Arethe knobson the PANDA200endless?
Answer: The knobson thePANDA200areendless pots. Thisallowsyou tolimit the
rangeofthe knobs, aswell asusethemasincrement/decrement controls.Pleasenote
thatyoursoftwareapplication mustbeabletoreceiveandrecognizeNRPNsfor
Increment/decrement functionstowork.
Question: I see 5knobs, 8faders, 26buttons, and16pads. Isthat all I get?
Answer: No.The PANDA200 featuresmultiplebanksofcontrollersand pads, whichcan
beaccessed withthe [PADBANK]and [CONTROLBANK] buttons.Thisallowsyou to
access significantlymoreparametersthan the amount ofphysicalcontrollers. Thereare3
controlbanks, whicheffectivelygiveyou 117 (3x39)controllers. Therearealso4different
pad banks whichgiveyou atotalof64 (4x16)pads.
