GettingStarted
Getting Started
This manual describes the setup
procedure you will need to operate the
DanteAccelerator.
Tostart using your DanteAccelerator,
follow the stepsbelow.
1. Install Dante Accelerator inyour
computer and driver software.
For details, refer to thesection
"About the DANTE
ACCELERATOR" on page 8.
2. Download and install yourDante
Controller.
From the Audinate website–
www.audinate.com.
3. Set up your Dantenetwork.
For details, refer to the section
“Connecting to a Network” in the
OperationManual.
4. Configure your audio software to
use the Dante Accelerator.
For details, refer to the sections
“Basic Operation” and“Configuring
the Card” in the OperationManual.

About Dante
Audinate's Dante technology is a protocol
used to provide audio transmissionthat
meets the quality and performance
requirements of professional livesound,
AV installations and broadcast and
recordingsystems.
Designedtofully exploit the capabilities of
today and tomorrow’s networkingdevice,
Dante provides media transport
mechanisms that eliminate many
traditional audio network design
restrictions. Dante makes it easyto set up
robust, flexible digital audio networks.A
Dante network can be designed with
mixed Gigabit and 100Mbps network
speeds, simultaneously support audio
with differentsample rates andbit-depths,
and even allow the design of network
zones with differentlatencies.
Dante is built on IP (Internet Protocols) -
not just Ethernet. Because it uses
standard IP over Ethernet, Danteis
capable of running on off-the-shelf
computer networkinghardware.
Dante provides sample-accurate
synchronization and can deliver thevery
low latency required by professional
audio. Dante’s network-centric, audio-
independent approach tosynchronization
allows perfectly synchronized playout
across different audio channels, devices
and networks, even over multiplenetwork
switches.

Dante makes networking a trueplug-and-
play process, allowing automaticdevice
discovery and systemconfiguration.
Dante-enabled devices willautomatically
setup their network configuration and
advertise themselves and theirchannels
on the network, reducing complicated,
error-prone set-up procedures. Insteadof
“magic numbers”, networked devices and
their input and output signals can be
named to make sense to theuser.
Dante is not restricted to allowing
configuration and transmission ofaudio
channels. Dante also provides
mechanisms to send or receivecontrol
signalsandmonitoringinformationacross
the Dante IP network, including device-
specific messages and control signals
specified and developed by aparticular
manufacturer.

About the DANTEACCELERATOR
About the DANTE
ACCELERATOR
Dante Accelerator is a PCI Express
format Dante sound card for use with
compatible PCs and Macs. It allowsthe
transmission and reception of up to128
in/128 out channels of 24-bit
uncompressed digital audio data
(complying with Audinate's Danteaudio
networking standard) at sample ratesup
to 96kHz, or 64 in/64 out channels at
192kHz(24-bit).
The Dante Accelerator has a compatible
PCI Express x4 standard interface.
A Gigabit Ethernet port ensures low
latency, high-quality synchronizedaudio.
The Dante Accelerator has asecondary
port to configure a redundant network.A
redundant network allowsestablishment
an environment resistant to network
failures.

RJ45 Ethernet Port
Used to connect to the Dante networkfor
audio transmission and reception. "P"
indicates the primary port and "S" the
secondary port. The secondary port is
used to configure a redundantnetwork.
NOTE
• CAT7straight lan cables are
recommended to be used to connectyour
devices to the Dante Accelerator.
• Some firmware versions of Dante
Accelerator do not support redundant
network. Check whether your Dante
Accelerator firmware versionsupports
redundant network from the following

About the DANTEACCELERATOR
Status LEDs
The status LEDs indicate thefollowing
conditions:
SYS–Indicates the status of theDante
system.
A green light indicates the system
has booted successfully and is
operating properly.
The SYS LED will be amber while
the system is booting. If it persists,
the system has failed to boot
correctly.
SYNC –Indicates the clock
synchronization status of theDante
device.
A solid green light indicatesthat
the device is a Dante PTP
(protocol used to allowsample-
accurate synchronization forthe
whole network) clock slave andis
synchronized to the PTP master.
A flashing green lightindicates
that the device is the DantePTP
clockmaster.
An orange light indicatesa
network synchronization error.
Obtaining network sync maytake
up to 45seconds.
ERR –Indicates an error.
A solid red light indicates thatthe
DanteAcceleratorhasencountered
errors on boot and enteredfailsafe
mode. In this case, the SYS and
SYNC LEDs are also solidred.
When in failsafe mode, theDante
Accelerator must be fixed with
Dante Firmware UpdateManager.

All LEDs will flash green when thecard's
Identify function has been activated using
the Dante Controller or web interface.

Installing theCard
Installing the Card
Before You Install
Before you install the Dante Accelerator,
you should note down the last 6
charactersof the MAC address printedon
the label on the card. The last six
characters of the MAC address ofthe
card are used in the default devicename
of DanteController.
For example, a Dante Acceleratorwith
MAC address 00:1D:C1:03:01:C4will
show as "****-0301C4" (where **** isthe
name of the card) in the Dante Controller
until it is given a more suitablename.
Installing and Removing
the DANTEACCELERATOR
For instructions on installing and
removing the Dante Accelerator, please
refer to the technical manual for the
computer in which you are installingthe
card.
If you remove the card, store the cardin
its anti-static bagand packagingwhilenot
in use.
Installing the DANTE
ACCELERATOR Driver
Youwill need to install the relevantdriver
on your computer before your Dante
Accelerator can beused.

installation guide containing the
instructions on how to install thedriver
