These wheelchairs have been designed for persons with limited or no personal
mobility for transport only.
This user’s manual is compiled from the latest specifications and product infor-
mation available at the time of publication. We reserve the right to make
changes as they become necessary. Any changes to our products may cause

the product you have purchased.
Safe y Tips

The engineering and construction of this wheelchair have been designed to
provide maximum safety.
•
International safety standards currently in force have either been fulfilled
or exceeded. Nevertheless users may put themselves at risk by improperly
using their wheelchairs.
•
The wheelchair is designed to be used by a single person only.
•
For your own safety the following guidelines must be observed.
•
Unprofessional or incorrect adaptation or adjustment work could increase
the risk of accidents.
•
Be careful during your first ride in this wheelchair.
•
Get to know your wheelchair.
•
Practice using your wheelchair on level ground as well as going up and
down hill.
•
O NOT attempt to reach objects if you have to pick them up from the
floor by reaching down between your knees.
•
O NOT attempt to reach objects if you have to move forward in the seat.
•
O NOT operate on roads or highways.
•
O NOT operate on an incline if covered in ice or a film of water or oil.
•
O NOT use the footplate as a platform when getting in or out of the
wheelchair.
•
O NOT stand on the frame of the wheelchair.

SAFETY TIPS
Regular checks before use
Please check the following before each use:
•
Quick release axles on the rear wheels
•
Tyres and brakes. Brakes will not function properly if the tyres are worn
or damaged, or if the gap between the tyre and brake is too big.
•
The maximum user weight is 120kg. The wheelchair should be used ex-
clusively to transport one person at a time in the seat. Any other use be-
yond this limit is in violation of safety regulations.
•
Users should not sit in the wheelchair whilst riding in any means of trans-
port.

Handling
Opening and Folding
Opening
1. Rest both hands on each of the seat upholstery support rails and
press down until the seat and back upholsteries become tight. (see
photo 1)
2. Make sure that the seat support rails are safely located in the sup-
port cups.

Folding
1. Lift up the footplates
2. Grasp the centre of the seat upholstery from the back and front and
lift the seat upwards. This will cause the chair to fold up by its own
weight.

Assembly
•
To Assemble
To fit the footrests place the top pin into the wheel-
chair frame. Turn the footrest assembly towards the
centre of the chair and push down to secure.

To Remove
Pull the release lever to release the footrest assem-
bly and either swing the assembly inwards or out-
wards away from the wheelchair. In this position
the whole footrest assembly can be lifted and re-
moved from the wheelchair.

Leg rest Adjustment -
For optimum comfort it is important to attain the correct leg position. The foot-
rests have been designed so that they can be extended by
releasing the bolt on the front of the footrest hanger. This lengthens the leg rests
and once a comfortable position is found the bolt should be fitted into the ap-
propriate hole and secured tightly.

To Release
Push the release lever forward and lift the armrest up.
This allows for side transfer if necessary.

To Fasten
Push the armrest in to its retaining socket until
secure.
Warning!
Lock armrests by securing release latch mechanism before using the wheelchair
Never lift the wheelchair by the armrests or footrests as these parts are
detachable and it may cause damage to the wheelchair and/or injury to the user

Brakes
Parking Brake
The brakes are preset and adjustment should only be necessary if the brakes be-
come loose or no longer function correctly.
To apply the parking brake push the brake lever towards the front of the
wheelchair. Push the lever back to release the brakes. See photos below.
These levers are to be used by hand only.

To apply the attendant brakes squeeze the brake levers in an upward direction
as shown in the photo. The running brakes are meant as an assist to the
attendant. They cannot be used as a parking brake. When the wheelchair is
stationary please apply both parking brakes.
To remove the rear wheels depress the
quick release button and pull the wheel
away from the frame of the wheelchair.
For safety reasons this should only be
carried out when the wheelchair is
unoccupied

Warnings
o not stand or put pressure on the footrests when entering or exiting the
wheelchair.
Should any defects become apparent on your wheelchair or if the brakes do not
respond as well as expected cease using the wheelchair immediately and return
it to your Z-Tec mobility dealer for inspection.
Check the tightness of the screw and bolt connections monthly.
If any connections become loose stop using the wheelchair and consult your
Z-Tec mobility dealer for assistance.
Check the moving parts (e.g. wheels and leg rests) before every use.
Check that the front castors swivel freely. Withdraw from use if they do not
work.
Care should be taken when assembling or dismantling the wheelchair. This
wheelchair weighs (Self-propelled) 13.7kgs and (Transit) 13.9kg and care
should be taken when lifting or moving it.
The wheelchair should be cleaned when necessary with a soft cloth and mild
detergent.
It is recommended that you have your wheelchair serviced every 12 months, or
more frequently if it is in regular use.
If the upholstery becomes worn or damaged replace it immediately.
o not carry out unauthorised modifications to the wheelchair. Always consult
your authorised dealer. Only use approved accessories as specified by Z-Tec
Mobility.
Users should not sit in the wheelchair whilst travelling in any means of
transport.
Warran y
Z-Tec wheelchairs are guaranteed for 12 months from the date of purchase, this warranty is
not transferable. Should any part of the wheelchair require repair or full replacement as a
result of a manufacturing or material defect within the warranty period, parts will be sup-
plied free of charge. The guarantee excludes tyres and all items that have been subjected to
undue wear and misuse. Under normal circumstances no responsibility will be accepted
where the wheelchair has not been maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s recom-
mendations. This does not affect your statutory rights.
