1. Making Connection
via USB
Hardware Installation
ÊConnect your modem to your analog phone or fax.
ËUse the phone cord included to connect to the
phone jack on the wall.
ÌPlug one end of your USB cable to your modem
and the other end to an available USB port on
your PC.

Software Installation for
Windows® 98
Follow the steps below to install your USB driver.
Step 1. Be sure your PC is
already turned on
before connecting
the USB cable from
your modem to your
PC. The plug and
play function of
Windows® 98
detects your new
device and shows
an installation
wizard as shown on
the left. Click Next
to continue.
NOTE:
If your Windows®system does not
detect your new device automatically, you may
unplug the USB cable and reboot your
Windows®system, then try Step 1 above again.

Step 4. Select The
update driver
(Recommended)
ZyXEL Omni
56K USB Modem
and then click
Next.
Step 2. Click Next to
accept the default
selection.
Step 3. Insert the CD-
ROM disc
included into your
CD-ROM drive,
select CD-ROM
drive and then
click Next.

For more information on how to upgrade your
modem's firmware, please refer to the User's Guide
for ZyXEL Omni 56K USB Modem.
Step 5. The installation
wizard has found
the location of
your USB driver.
Click Next to
continue and
Windows® will
copy the driver
files into your
system as well as
build the driver
information
database.
Step 6. The ZyXEL USB
modem has been
successfully
installed on your
computer. Click
Finish,then
follow the wizard
to complete the
driver installation.

Software Installation for
Windows® 2000
Step 1: When the Omni 56K USB is plugged into
the Windows® 2000 system, the Found
New Hardware dialog box as shown
appears.
Step 2: The Found New Hardware Wizard
dialog box appears. Click Next button to
proceed.

Step 3: Choose the option Search for a
suitable driver for my device…
and click the Next button.
Step 4: Choose the option Specify a
location and then click the Next button.

Step 5: Browse to your CD-ROM drive (for
example D:\), choose the folder
Drivers\O56u\Win2000. Then click
the OK button.

Step 6: When the Found New Hardware
Wizard dialog box appears, just click the
Next button to proceed.
Step 7: Click the Yes button to continue the
installation.

Step 8: Click the Finish button to complete
installing the driver for your modem.
