Check your box contents. Unplug your telephone from the master socket
in your wall, then plug in the ADSL Microlter.
Now plug your telephone into the PHONE
socket of your Microlter.

If you have no telephone,
simply plug the ADSL
Microlter into the master socket.
It should all be there.
If not call technical support on 0844 880 4648.

Use the grey broadband cable to connect the
DSL port on your ZyXEL router to the DSL or
MODEM port on your ADSL Microlter.
Assemble the two piece power adapter then
plug the lead into the POWER socket on your
ZyXEL router.
Plug the adapter into a mains socket and switch
on the mains power supply.

Push the ZyXEL router’s power switch into the
ON position.
You will see the POWER LED blink during start-
up and remain steady when ready (this takes
about 1 to 2 minutes).
Each ETHERNET LED turns on for each
corresponding port in use. (If you have no
devices connected, no lights will show).
The WLAN/WPS LED stays green when the
wireless LAN is ready, and blinks whilst
transmitting.
The DSL LED stays green when connected.
The INTERNET LED is green when internet is
available, and blinks whilst transmitting.
Now to connect your devices.
Choose from the list below what type of device
you want to connect to the Internet, and go to
the corresponding section.

Connecting your computer using wireless.
1. Place your computer near to your ZyXEL router
for a good wireless signal.
2. Ensure your computer has a wireless adapter
installed. Most modern computers will have these
built in, however if not, you will need to buy an
external adapter (go to page 4 of the User Guide).
3. Find your router’s preset SSID/Network Name
and Wireless Key. These are printed on the sticker
on the base of your ZyXEL router.
4. Follow the instructions below for your
computer’s operating system:
Windows XP/Vista/7/8:
a. Click ‘Start’ and open ‘Control Panel’.
b. Select ‘Network and Internet’ and click ‘Connect
to a network’.
c. Select your ZyXEL router network (it will match
the SSID printed on base of your router).
d. Enter the Wireless Key printed on the base of
your router.
e. Click‘Connect’ and wait a few moments while
your computer connects to your ZyXEL router.
MAC OS X
a. Click the ‘Airport Status’ icon in the menu bar.
b. Highlight your ZyXEL router network (it will
match the SSID printed on the base of your router).
c. MAC OS X 10.4 and earlier: In the‘Wireless
Security’ box, select ‘WPA Personal’.
d. Enter the Wireless Key printed on the base of
your router in the ‘Password’ box.
e. Click‘OK’ and wait a few moments while your
computer connects to your ZyXEL router.
You should now be connected to the internet. If
you have encountered a problem, please refer to
the User Guide.

Connecting your computer using Ethernet cable.
1. Check that your computer has a spare Ethernet
port. This is small socket on the back of your
computer, usually marked LAN, Ethernet, or <--->.
2. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into one of
the ZyXEL router’s Ethernet sockets.
3. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into
your computer’s Ethernet socket.
Connecting a device using wireless.
1. Find your ZyXEL router’s preset SSID/Network
Name and Wireless Key. These are printed on the
sticker on the base of your ZyXEL router.
2. When prompted by your wireless device, enter
these wireless details.
3. Follow your device’s wireless set-up instructions.

Connecting a device using Ethernet cable.
1. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into one of
the ZyXEL router’s Ethernet sockets.
2. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into
your device’s Ethernet socket.
