1 GENERAL INFORMATION AND SPECIFICATIONS
1.1 INTRODUCTION
DVR stands for Digital Video Recorder with one common goal, allowing end-users to record /
retrieve real time video files with a few mouse clicks. Within the last decade, video encrypt/decrypt
algorithms achieved noticeable improvement along with the availability of large capacity digital storage
devices that draw attention to designing DVR systems. The 247Security Inc. has designed and built the
ZEUS Series equipment to make this transition smooth for the in-vehicle applications, specifically the
transportation industry.
The ZEUS Pt employs high performance video compression modified h.266 standard to optimize
video/audio data stream so that it can be sent over a network or stored directly on a local disk. The
compression algorithm mainly runs on a DSP Engine, therefore freeing up valuable resources within the
system to do other jobs. ZEUS Pt has features such as dynamic bit rate, controllable frame rate up to 30
fps per camera, image quality control, real-time previewing on all channels, alarm triggers, sensor
configuration, easy retrieval and transfer of video files over Modem/WIFI/LAN, GPS tracking and much
more. In addition, ZEUS allows end-users to independently manipulate these parameters for each
camera if desired.

1.5.1 POWER INPUT CONNECTOR
The ZEUS PT has a built-in Intelligent power circuit that can operate from +6.5v ~ +16V DC-IN. A
constant 12v, Ignition and Ground are required. The DVR is energized by the vehicle’s ignition signa and
uses this signal to trigger start up, the power shut-down delay and the timing circuitry. The system will
remain ON until the ignition signal has been cancelled and the shut-down delay time has been reached.
The system will then go through its normal shutdown procedures before completely powering down.

1.5.2 BATTERY LOOPBACK PLUG, UPS OPERATION
The ZEUSPT has an on-board UPS battery system for providing backup power for up to 15
minutes after main power has been lost. The UPS battery will also keep the DVR running in case of over
voltage (greater then 16VDC) and low voltage (less then 8VDC). This plug is also needed to allow the on-
board battery to charge once power is restored. The DVR systems require a battery loopback Plug to
enable this feature. Installers should connect the battery loopback plug to the DVR only after the device
has been fully installed and connected to the vehicle power source. Remove the loopback plug and store

1.5.3 CAMERA 1 -> 10 CONNECTORS
The ZEUS PT supports a maximum of 16 cameras. Ten cameras have Micro-fit connectors which
are used to connect the camera inputs to the ZEUS PT system (video, audio and infrared illumination).
Also included in each camera connection is DV12V Out to power the camera. You can refer to the rear
cover of the DVR for the camera assignments of each connector. When any of the cameras are not
connected properly (for instance loose cables, unplugged etc…) the ZEUS1 PT intelligently notifies the
end-users with “blue screen and OSD info” on the preview screen. Camera inputs are labeled CAM1 ->

A 15 ft cable is already connected to the Event Marker and pre-wired to a 2X3 Molex connector;
the other end of the cable is connected to the Event Marker port on the DVR. The Event Marker device
has 3 LEDS used to notify when the DVR is Powered on (Green), Recording (Amber) or Lost Video signal
(Red). The push button is used for pre/post trigger recording which when pressed, marks the video files
at that specific moment. Pre-event and Post-event time locking can be configured in the DVR setup.
