1.0 General
1.1 The 3M™4295 FS Pole Mount Cabinet is used specifically for “Walk Up” pole mount
applications. It can be used for new construction and for rehabilitation or expansion of frames
from existing cabinets because the cabinet has top and bottom split cable ports. Up to 2700 cable
pairs of 3M™4220 Self-Strip Termination Blocks can be loaded into the Cabinet. The Blocks
are preterminated with either 3M™MS2Modules or 3M™710 Connectors.
1.2 Use of this cabinet for rehabilitation and expansion is covered in Section 9.0 of this instruction.
1.3 Instructions for running jumpers, installation of Priority Caps and the use of the included Test
Probe are on the inside of the cabinet door.

3.0 Accessories

4.0 Cabinet Mounting
4.1 Attach the Top and Bottom Pole Mount Brackets according to the drawings. The flat slotted edge
of the Bottom Bracket is up. Make sure that the Bottom Bracket is aligned and plumb with the
Top Bracket or it could affect the operation of the doors. Follow your company's "pole mounting
hardware" practice. When required, adjust these dimensions to meet your company practice or
local conditions.

4.2 Raise the lifting brackets on the top of the
Cabinet and attach a sling to them. Lift it
into position with a boom truck. The Top
Mounting Bracket supports the Cabinet's
hanging weight.
4.3 The Cabinet’s Bottom Brackets use the
bracket's slotted holes to make side-to-side,
tilt and up and down adjustments as needed.
Secure the Cabinet to the pole by tightening
the bolts of the Bracket.
4.4 Attach the cable to the pole per your
company's practice.
5.0 Cable Preparation
Note: Two 3 3/8" and one 2 5/8" Metal Cable Ports are included with the cabinet. Slide the
appropriate sized port over the cable(s) before attaching the cable(s) in the cabinet. An optional 4"
Metal Cable Port can be ordered if needed.
5.1 Open Cabinet doors, loosen frame-retaining screws and remove frames by lifting the
bottom up and out of the cabinet.
5.2 Cable Entry
a.) For top entry cable(s), remove the Cabinet’s Top Front Port Plate, the Top Center Frame
Mount Bracket and the Metal Port Covers(s) on the top of the Cabinet.
b.) For bottom entry cable(s), remove the Bottom Front Port Plate, the Bottom Jumper Wire
Trough and the Metal Port Covers(s) on the bottom of the Cabinet.
5.3 Remove the cable sheath 3" beyond the first Cable Tie Bar leaving a minimum of 12 feet of free
conductor in the Cabinet.
5.4 Follow your company procedure to install shield bond connector(s) and bond strap(s) long
enough to reach the Cabinet’s Bond Plate. Identify the cable binder groups.

6.0 Cable Port Seal
6.2 Scuff and round out the area of sheath where the
sealing tape and port will be located.
6.3 Slide the PST, (pull cord must be opposite
the cabinet) the steel port and gasket over the
cable and out of the Cabinet.
6.4 Wrap the sealing tape approximately 1" away
from the Cabinet’s top or bottom, so it will
center the cable in the port. Position and
install the gasket and port to the Cabinet as
shown in the drawing.
6.5 Build an even transition from the port
to the cable with more sealing tape.
7.0 Cable Termination
7.1 Separate the Feeder and Distribution count of
the cable(s) into 100 pair groups. Route the
groups to the tie bars to the appropriate frame
location according to frame count.
a.) It is recommended that the Feeder count is in
the center blocks and the Distribution count
blocks are on the sides of the Feeder blocks in
the Cabinet.

3M™4295 FS 2700 Pair Cabinet
6.1 Two 3 3/8" and one 2 5/8" Metal Cable Ports are included with the Cabinet. Use the appropriate sized
port for the cable(s) in the Cabinet. An optional 4” Metal Cable Port can be ordered if needed. The Kits
include a port, sealing tape and a collapsible tube called the 3M™Pull-N-Shrink Tube (PST).
6.6 Install the PST over the tape and port. Unwind the pull cord of the PST counter clockwise until the
tube is collapsed and the core is removed.
6.7 Wrap entire PST with two half-lapped layers of 3M™88T Vinyl Tape or equivalent.
6.8 Secure the cable(s) to the Cable Tie Bar.
6.9 Attach the bond strap(s) to the Bond Plate and tie the strap(s) together and out of the way from the frame
and jumper trough. Record the bond strap(s) identification on the Cable Bond Label in the Cabinet.
6.10 Reinstall the Cabinet’s Port Plate, the Top Center Frame Mount Bracket or the Bottom Jumper Wire
Trough if removed.

7.2 For top entry cable(s), tie these groups to the farthest tie bar in the Cabinet. Bottom entry cable(s) can
either be tied off to the first bar or waterfall the groups at the upper bar and tie to the bottom bar for extra slack.
7.3 Reinstall one of the Cabinet’s Frames. Position the Frame on the bottom pivots and attach the
safety cord to the back of the Frame. Allow the Frame to rest at a 45˚ angle.
7.4 In this position, tie the appropriate groups to the bottom of the Frame.
7.5 Mount a splicing unit on the Frame and position it so the connections will be made behind the
blocks. The completed connections and cable slack can be stored in the trough.
7.6 Splice the block’s connectors/modules to cable per your company procedure. Tie and store the
cable groups and connectors/modules in the frame block trough.
Note: When splicing with dry 3M™MS2™ Modules, always install the proper sized Sealant Box.
When using 3M™MS2™ Modules, 3M™4075 or 4077 Series Sealant Boxes or 3M™710 Connectors
containing sealants, carefully follow safety, health and environmental information on the label or
the Material Safety Data Sheet.
7.7 Secure the Frame in the upright position with the screw at the top of the Frame. Repeat this
procedure with the next two Frames and complete the Cabinet splicing.

8.0 Labeling
8.1 Remove protective tape from identification
pads on blocks.
8.2 Select proper sequence of labels (blue-
distribution; green-feeder) and detach strip
of 20 labels from sheet.
Note: 1-6-11 etc. are attached to the left side of
block and 5-10-15 etc. are attached to the
right side.
8.3 Carefully remove protective backing from
strip as shown.
8.4 Align strips of numbers with block
identification pads and press in place.
Carefully remove outer liner, leaving labels
on pads.
8.5 Fill in binding post log.

9.1 Rehabilitation
The 3M™4295 FS Pole Mount Cabinet can be used for rehabilitation of frames from existing
cabinets. The Cabinet’s top and bottom split cable entry ports makes it versatile so existing
cables and frames can be placed into the Cabinet’s opening of 13 3/4" deep x 45" high x 43” wide.
9.2 Expansion
The Cabinet can also be used to expand an existing frame with up to 900 cable pairs of 3M™4320 Self-
Strip Termination Blocks that are preterminated with either 3M™MS2Modules or 710 Connectors. The
existing frame can have dimensions up to 13 3/4" deep x 45" high x 28" wide.
