Read VM3D user manual carefully before working with the
product. For personal and system safety and for optimum
performance, make sure you thoroughly understand the
contents before installing, using or maintaining this instrument.
All servicing of the equipment is to be
performed at factory by qualified service
personnel only.
No user/operator adjustments inside the VM3D
volumetric laser scannerr are necessary or
recommended by the manufacturer.
−Do not drop the instrument or expose the internals to water
and dirt
−Do not open the terminal compartment in a possibly
explosive atmosphere
−Do not install or connect with the power on
−Use appropriate insulated lugs or ferrules with stainless
washers for connections
−Keep the terminal compartment seal clean and lightly
lubricated with Vaseline®
−Ensure that the terminal compartment lid, cable gland
or conduit are tight after installation
−Only use glands that have been suitably certified by a
notified body
−Do not install conduit so that it can drain into the VM3D
terminal compartment
−Remove dirt from the lenses with a clean, damp cloth only
−Aim perpendicular to liquids and avoid aiming into the
vessel fill path or at the sun

VM3D Topology
The VM3D scanner uses a near infrared laser for distance
measurements. The VM3D scanner is classified as a class
1M laser device according to IEC60825-1, Ed 1.2, 2001-
08. Class 1M devices are considered eye safe and cannot
lead to eye injury unless an optical instrument that focuses
down the energy is used.
During standard operation:
Class 1M laser (905nm) is safe for all
conditions of use except when passed
through magnifying optics such as
microscopes and telescopes. Do not view
directly with optical instruments (binoculars or
telescopes).
