Congratulations on your purchase! Your new ActivePure®Transit Guardian utilizes tested
ActivePure Technology to reduce odors and contamination on surfaces. It is designed to be
installed inside the ductwork of a vehicle heating and air conditioning system or inside of a
secondary/ addon air system. Be sure to read and follow all service procedures outlined in
this owner’s manual, and use only genuine ActivePurereplacement parts.

caused by this device.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Installation will require access to the vehicle air conditioning system or air ducting. Because
transit vehicles vary, installation and location of installation may vary. Please see owner's
manual for detailed instructions on using, handling, storing and disposing of the device, and
procedures to mitigate any associated risks.
The use of this device is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control
practices; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including
those related to the cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces.

INSPECTION
1. Remove unit from shipping carton.
2. Remove all protective materials.
3. Check for missing or broken parts due to shipping damage.
4. Read Owner’s Manual thoroughly prior to installation.
5. Determine placement location for the unit, follow installation
instructions on page 6 and 7.

WARNING
INSTALLING THE UNIT
1. Installation will require access to the
vehicle air conditioning system or air
ducting. Because transit vehicles vary,
installation and location of installation
may vary. Location of installation is
typically in the ducting or at the coils
aer the filter. Always verify where in the
air path the unit will be placed.
3. The ActivePure Transit Guardian should
be placed in the direct air flow. Optimum
placement will allow air to pass into the
unit from one side and exit the opposite
side (see diagram).
2. Secure unit in air conditioning unit or
duct using the provided screws. Multiple
mounting holes are provide on boom
plate. Depending on where and how it’s
mounted, not all the mounting holes
may be used.

INSTALLING THE UNIT (CONTINUED)
4. Connect the 12 VDC power supply cable
by inserting the plug into the power
inlet. Make sure the power cable is
locked securely to the mating part.
5. Mount the safety switch in an
appropriate location that would disable
power to the unit when accessing it. The
switch can be mounted in any location.
Optimum placement would be behind
an access door, panel or cover.
6. Connect the unit to a 12 VDC negative
ground electrical power source (see
diagram). It’s recommended to connect
it to a circuit that is turned on and o
by the vehicle to prevent the unit from
being le on and running the vehicle
baery down.

CAUTION
Disconnect power from the ActivePure Transit Guardian
before servicing.
UV Light in operation; disconnect unit from power source before
servicing; failure to follow warnings may result in severe eye
damage and electrical shock.
CHANGING THE ACTIVEPURE®BULB
WARNING
1. Remove the three (3) screws from the
cover. One on top and two on the side.
2. Remove the cover by liing away from
the base.
3. Remove the UV bulb by liing the end
away from the bulb retaining clamp.
*Two pieces of honeycomb removed for clarity.
4. Unplug the UV bulb from the power
supply.

5. Replace the UV bulb by reversing steps
3 and 4. Wipe new bulb with isopropyl
alcohol to remove oils from fingerprints.
6. Return cover and replace screws.
NOTE: For optimal performance and to keep warranty in eect, it is required to replace
the ActivePure®Cell once every year, even if the UV lamp appears to be
operating normally.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
1. Disconnect the power supply to the ActivePure®Transit Guardian.
2. Remove the ActivePure Transit Guardian unit.
3. Wipe the cover of the ActivePure Transit Guardian with a slightly damp cloth, not wet
cloth. Do not allow water to enter unit.
4. Use a vacuum with a hose aachment to vacuum dust from the ActivePure Matrix
(Honeycomb) on either side of the ActivePure Transit Guardian.
5. Determine placement location for the unit, follow installation instructions
on page 6 and 7.
6. Reinstall the ActivePure Transit Guardian back inside the vehicle air conditioning
system and reconnect it to the power.
NOTE: It is recommended to vacuum the ActivePure Matrix (Honeycomb)
surface as needed.

INSPECTION
1. Déballer l’appareil de son carton d’expédition.
2. Retirer tous les matériaux de protection.
3. Vérifier l’absence de pièces desserrées ou brisées dues à des dommages de transport.

MISE EN
GARDE
INSTALLATION DE L’UNITÉ
1. Cee installation nécessite l’accès
au système de climatisation ou aux
conduits d’air du véhicule. Étant donné
les diérences entre les véhicules de
transport en commun, l’installation et
l’emplacement d’installation peuvent
varier. Cee installation s’eectue
généralement sur un conduit ou au
niveau des serpentins, en aval du filtre.
Vérifier toujours où sera placée l’unité
dans le circuit d’air.
3. L’unité ActivePure Transit Guardian
doit être placée directement dans le
flux d’air. Un positionnement optimal
permerait à l’air de pénétrer par un
côté de l’appareil et d’en ressortir par le
côté opposé (voir schéma).
2. Monter l’appareil sur l’unité de
climatisation ou sur le conduit à l’aide
des vis fournies. Plusieurs trous de
fixation sont prévus sur la plaque
inférieure. Selon l’emplacement choisi
pour l’installation, certains trous de
fixation peuvent ne pas être utilisés.
