supply side of air conditioning and heating system air ducts by an electrician or HVAC professional, where it
will provide 24/7 surface and air disinfection. Please read and follow all service procedures outlined in this
manual before installing or performing maintenance.

Read this manual in its entirety before using your ActivePure®Induct Guardian IV.
Keep out of the reach of children.
• Live voltage may be present
• Disconnect power at the breaker or fuse panel before servicing unit; always follow OSHA lockout
procedures to prevent accidental exposure to electrical energy
• If installed near a furnace or where emergency heat coils could raise the temperature inside the
plenum, cycle the AC unit through three full heating cycles assuring that the temperature never
exceeds 200 °F (93 °C); the ActivePure®Cell must not exceed 200 °F (93 °C)
• If the unit is hard wired, be sure the power to the unit is o; always follow OHSA electrical lockout
safety requirements to prevent accidental release of energy during service or maintenance
activities
• Never aempt to check operation of the ActivePure®Cell(s) by direct observation; severe eye
damage can result; use the indicator lamps on the boom of the ballast only

Unit should be installed aer the air handler in the HVAC system by a licensed HVAC contractor or
electrician. Please see owner's manual for detailed instructions on using, handling, storing and disposing of
the device, and procedures to mitigate any associated risks.
The use of this device is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices; users
must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those related to the cleaning and
disinfection of environmental surfaces.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
If installed near a furnace or where emergency heat coils could
raise the temperature inside the plenum, cycle the AC unit
through three full heating cycles assuring that the temperature
never exceeds 200 °F (93 °C). The ActivePure®Cell must not
exceed 200 °F (93 °C).
WARNING
• This unit must be installed by a licensed HVAC contractor or
electrician; failure to do so will void warranty of the product
• When the unit is installed in a roof mounted HVAC system,
the unit must be protected from the elements
CAUTION
1. The ActivePure®Induct Guardian IV unit should be
installed aer the air handler in the HVAC system.
2. The ductwork around the installation area should be
clean and dry to ensure proper adhesion of the gasket
materials and any tape used.
3. When installing near a furnace or heating coils, run
the heating system through three full heating cycles
to ensure the temperature of the ActivePure Induct
Guardian IV unit does not exceed 200 °F (93 °C).
4. An approximate 10" x 6.5" (25.4 cm x 16.5 cm) opening
will need to be cut into the existing ductwork to install
the unit properly.
5. Aer a few minutes, adjust the control to the desired
speed.

WARNING
The ActivePure®Induct Guardian IV provides a
dry-contact relay port for optional remote monitoring of
cell operation. Contacts are closed during normal operation
and open if there is an interruption in operation. Maximum
contact rating = 250V AC / 8A. (see port location on Page 5)
NOTE: Port is an industry-standard pluggable terminal block type with 2-position, 0.2” (5.08mm) pitch.

3. Using the mounting plate as a
template, mark the location
for installation.
4. Use a hand saw or tin snips to cut a
10” x 6.5” rectangle.
OR
Find the optimal position downstream from the air handler. Ensure location in duct has enough room for the
mounting plate. It is recommended for maximum eectiveness that the unit be placed as close to the air
handler as possible.
1. Locate suitable area of duct
for installation.
2. Cut away insulation to expose
metal duct (if needed).

WIRING THE UNIT
2. Connect the unit to the load side of the proper fan relay.
3. Be sure to ground the ballast by securing the unit to the metal
surface of the AC unit or power box.

1. Connect wires coming from the ActivePure®Induct Guardian IV unit to the fan relay as follows:

fasten to duct work with
eight (8) sheet metal screws.

location and secure to duct work
with the eight (8) nuts provided.

MAINTENANCE / UV BULB INDICATOR
Your ActivePure®Induct Guardian IV unit requires no periodic maintenance
beyond normal replacement of the ActivePure Cell every one (1) year.
The UV Bulb Indicator on the face of the unit will glow when the UV bulb is in
use. If the indicator does not glow and the unit has power, the ActivePure Cell
should be replaced.
NOTE: For optimal performance and to maintain the Limited 5 year warranty,
it is required to replace the ActivePure®Cell every year, even if the
UV bulb appears to be operating normally.

3. Remove the six (6) nuts
holding the cell assembly
to remove the cell from the
ballast assembly.

NOTE: Always follow OHSA electrical lockout safety requirements to prevent accidental release of energy
during service or maintenance activities.
5. Plug the new ActivePure Cell
into the base unit. Be sure

ing the four (4) screws then remove
the cover.

wire to ensure the wire is properly locked into place.

• Pour éviter d’endommager l’appareil, la température de
l’environnement de marche ne doit pas dépasser 200 oF (93 oC)
• Afin de réduire les risques de décharge électrique, cee unité peut
posséder une fiche de courant avec mise à la terre avec une troisième
broche (de mise à la terre); cee fiche ne s’insère que dans une prise
de courant avec mise à la terre; si la fiche ne s’insère pas dans la prise,
demandez à un professionnel qualifié d’installer une prise adéquate;
NE JAMAIS modifier la fiche de quelque façon que ce soit
• NE PAS brancher cet appareil à une source d’alimentation supérieure à
