supply side of air conditioning and heating system air ducts by an electrician or HVAC professional, where
it will provide 24/7 surface and air disinfection. Please read and follow all service procedures outlined in
this manual before installing or performing maintenance.

and correctly assembled; failure to follow warnings may result in
severe eye damage and electrical shock
• To prevent damage to the unit, operating environment temperature
must never exceed 200 oF (93 oC)
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, this equipment may have a
grounding type plug that has a third (grounding) pin; this plug will only
fit into a grounding type power outlet; if the plug does not fit into the
outlet, contact qualified personnel to install the proper outlet; DO
NOT alter the plug in any way
• This unit is equipped with a universal ballast that operates at nominal

Unit should be installed aer the air handler in the HVAC system by a licensed HVAC contractor or
electrician. Please see owner's manual for detailed instructions on using, handling, storing and disposing of
the device, and procedures to mitigate any associated risks.
The use of this device is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices; users
must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those related to the cleaning and
disinfection of environmental surfaces.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
• This unit must be installed by a licensed HVAC contractor or
electrician; failure to do so will void warranty of the product
• When the unit is installed in a roof mounted HVAC system, the unit
must be protected from the elements
If installed near a furnace or where emergency heat coils could raise
the temperature inside the plenum, cycle the AC unit through three full
heating cycles assuring that the temperature never exceeds 200 °F
(93 °C). The ActivePure®Cell must not exceed 200 °F (93 °C).
WARNING
For 120V Domestic Units: Black = L1, White = Neutral, Green = Ground
For 220V Commercial Units: Black = L1, White = L2, Green = Ground
For 230V International Units: Brown = L1, Blue = L2, Green w/yellow stripe = Ground
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Wiring of the unit into your HVAC system should be done by a
licensed HVAC installer or electrical contractor only
• This unit is equipped with a universal ballast that operates at
nominal voltages between 100 and 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz
CAUTION
To Reduce the Risk of Electric Shock – DO NOT use in wet or damp
locations. This equipment emits UV-C radiation. DO NOT locate
equipment in any location allowing direct line-of-sight to vents,
returns, or other duct openings. Disconnect from supply before
servicing or replacing.
WARNING
1. The ActivePure®Induct Guardian unit should be installed
aer the air handler in the HVAC system.
2. The ductwork around the installation area should be clean
and dry to ensure proper adhesion of the gasket materials
and any tape used.
3. When installing near a furnace or heating coils, run the
heating system through three (3) full heating cycles to
ensure the temperature of the INDUCT unit does not
exceed 200 ˚F (93 °C).
4. An approximate 3.5” (8.89 cm) opening will need to be cut
into the existing ductwork to install the unit properly.

INSTALLING THE UNIT
1. Locate suitable
area of duct for
installation.
2. Cut away insulation to
expose metal duct (if
needed).
3. Mark location for
3.5" opening using the
mounting plate.

Find the optimal position downstream from the air handler. Ensure location in duct has enough room for the
mounting plate. It is recommended for maximum eectiveness that the unit be placed as close to the air
handler as possible.
CAUTION
a. Using the mounting plate,
mark four cuing method
holes on duct.
b. Drill four holes where
marked.
c. Cut between holes
using tin snips.

5. Remove backing from
mounting plate adhesive
gasket.
6. Center openings and press
mounting plate onto duct.
The adhesive gasket will hold
the mounting plate in place.

using (8) #8 self-tapping screws.

Be sure the air will pass
though the ActivePure®Cell
honeycomb matrix.
9. Secure the unit to the
mounting plate with (4)
thumb nuts.

Always follow OSHA lockout procedures to prevent accidental exposure

WARNING
3. Be sure to ground the ballast by securing the unit to the metal surface
of the AC unit or power box.
Hard wiring unit into HVAC system should be done by a licensed HVAC
installer or qualified electrical contractor only.
CAUTION
WIRING THE UNIT
Your ActivePure®Induct Guardian unit requires no periodic maintenance
beyond normal replacement of the ActivePure®Cell every one (1) year.
The UV Bulb Indicator operation indicator on the face of the unit will glow
when the UV bulb is in use. If the indicator does not glow and the unit has
power, the ActivePure®Cell should be replaced.
NOTE: For optimal performance and to maintain the Limited 5 year warranty,
it is required to replace the ActivePure®Cell once every year, even if
the UV bulb appears to be operating normally.

CHANGING THE ACTIVEPURE®CELL
1. Disconnect (unplug)
power cord from unit.
2. Remove the (4) thumb nuts. 3. Remove the unit from the
mounting plate.

unit and dispose of the bulb
properly.

screws holding the

6. Plug the new ActivePure Cell
into the base unit. Be sure

6. To reconnect wiring, (A) press each tab on the ballast and insert wire.
(B) Release tab and gently pull wire to ensure it is properly locked into place.
