1-1. Apply a light coat of Permatex™ Super Lube™ or other grease to all threads
ando-rings.Thiswillfacilitateassemblyandpreventsthethreadsfromseizing.
1-2. Fig.-1: Positiontheforward(black)closureinaverticalposition,delaycharge
cavity facing up. Apply a light coat of grease to the inside and outside surface
of the delay insulator (1-1/8" O.D. tube) and insert the delay insulator into the
cavityintheforward(black)closureasshown.NOTE:Regularlengthstandard
forward closures shown in all illustrations.
1-3. Fig.-2:Placethegreasedinner(1/16"thickX7/8"O.D.) thenouter(1/16"thick
X 1" O.D.) delay o-rings into the delay charge cavity until they are seated
againsttheforwardendofthecavity.Makesuretheyarecenteredwithineach
other.
1-4. Fig.-2: Place the delay charge backup ring (3/4” O.D. fiber washer) into the
forward end of the delay charge cavity, centered within the delay charge o-
rings.NOTE:WhenusingapluggedforwardclosureONLY,fillthecavityinthe
backup ring with grease.
1-5. Fig.-3: Apply a light coat of grease to the outside paper surface of the delay
element. NOTE: DO NOT get any grease on the exposed delay propellant
surface.Thiscouldpreventignitionoftheejectioncharge.Withthedelaycavity
facing up, gently press the delay element into the delay insulator until it is
seated against the delay o-rings. Install the delay spacer ring(s), if provided,
ontopofthedelayelement.Thedelayspacerordelayelementmust protrude
above the delay insulator by 1/32" to 1/16". WARNING: FAILURE TO
INSTALL THE DELAY ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY AS SHOWN MAY RE-
SULT IN PREMATURE FUNCTIONING OF THE EJECTION CHARGE,
POSSIBLY DAMAGING YOUR MOTOR AND ROCKET.
1-6. Complete the remainder of motor assembly according to the original instruc-
tions that accompanied your particular reload kit. Delay Spacer or Element Must Protrude Above the Delay Insulator by 1/32" to 1/16"

First Aid
For a minor burn, apply a burn ointment. For a severe burn, immerse the burned area in
ice water at once and see a physician as quickly as possible. In the unlikely event of oral
ingestionofthepropellant,inducevomitingandseeaphysicianasquicklyaspossible.The
AeroTech reload delay kit pyrotechnic components consists primarily of ammonium
perchlorate and a rubber-like plastic elastomer.
Disposal
Damaged or defective reload delay kits should be returned to AeroTech.
Fire Safety
Tests show that the pyrotechnic components of RMS™ reload delay kits will not explode
in fires and normally will not ignite unless subjected to direct flame and then will burn
slowly. Use water to fight any fires in whichAeroTech RMS™ reload delay kit pyrotechnic
componentsmay become involved: Direct the water at theAeroTech RMS™ reload delay
kit pyrotechnic components to keep them below their 550 deg. F autoignition tempera-
ture. Foam and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers will NOT extinguish burning propellants
of the type used in RMS™ reload delay kit pyrotechnic components. Keep reload delay
kit pyrotechnic components away from flames, sources of heat and flammable materials.
