PRECAUTIONS
To maintain good performance
• Do not use the unit in places which are extremely
hot, cold, dusty or humid.
In particular, do not keep the unit:
• in a high humidity area such as a bathroom
Wipe the unit thoroughly after use.
Note on listening with the headphones
• Listen at moderate volumes to avoid hearing
damage.
• Do notwearthe headphones whiledrivingor cycling.
• Do not listen at high volumes while walking,

BATTERIES -> fj
Open the battery compartment inside the unit and
insert two size AA (R6) batteries with the © and ©
marks correctly aligned.
Battery replacement -> B
Replace the batteries with new ones when the OPE/
BATT indicator becomes dim.
• Before replacing the batteries, be sure to turn off
the power to prevent the erasure of preset station
memories and exercise calculation.
•The unit retains the preset station memories for
about 1 minute without batteries. To prevent the
erasure of the memories, replace the batteries
quickly.

aligned.
• Do not mix different types of batteries, or an old
battery with a new one.

Connect the supplied headphones to the PHONES
jack of the unit.
Using the belt clip -» Q
Attach the supplied belt clip to the main unit and
install it to your belt.
Using the hand strap -> 0
1 Attach the Hand strap to the belt clip.
Fit the projection ® into the hole.
2 Attach the belt clip to the unit.
3 Fasten the hand strap. Fit the projections into the
holes completely.

Instale el gancho para cinturon induido, en el aparato
y cuelguelo del cinturbn.
Utillzacion de la correa de mano -> E
1 Pase la correa de mano por el gancho para
dnturdn.
Encaje la saliente ® en el orificio.
2 Instale el gancho para cinturon en el aparato.
3 Abroche la correa de mano. Encaje
completamente las salientes en los orificios.

Raccordez lesecouteursfournis a la prise PHONES
de I’appareil.
Utiliser une pince pour ceinture -> 0
Fixez la pince pour ceinture foumie a I’appareil, puis
ce dernier 4 votre ceinture.
Utilisation d une dragonne -»0
1 Fixez la dragonne a la pince pour ceinture.
Inserez la projection ® dans le trou.
2 Fixez la pince de ceinture a I’appareil.
3 Serrez la dragonne. Inserez comptetement les
saillies dans les trous.

Turn the HOLD/LOCK/OPEN switch to LOCKbefore
use to activate the buttons on the cassette holder.
When not using the unit, setthe HOLD/LOCK/OPEN
switch to HOLD. Accidentally pressed buttonson the
cassette holder will not function.
Volume -> 0
Turn the VOLUME control to adjust the volume.
Super bass-> El
Set the SUPER BASS switch to ON to emphasize
low frequencies.
Cassette tapes -» G
• Check and tighten slack tape before use with a
pencil or similar tool as illustrated. Slack tape may
break or get jammed in the mechanism.
• C-100 or longer tapes are extremely thin andeasily
deformed or damaged. They are not recommended
for use in this unit.

TUNING IN TO A STATION EBBSI
1 Turn the HOLD/LOCK/OPEN switch to
LOCK.
2 Press RADIO ON/OFF BAND repeatedly to
select a band.
3 Press + or — to tune in to a station.
After listening, keep RADIO ON/OFF BAND
pressed for about 1 second to turn off the power.
For quick tuning
Keep either + or — pressed for 1 or 2 seconds.
When a station is tuned in, the frequency indicator
stops automatically. However, it may not stop if the
broadcast signal is weak.
For better reception —> Q
FM/TV/WEATHER: The headphone cord functions
as the FM antenna. Keep it extended.
AM: Turn the unit to find the position that gives the
best reception.
To listen to FM stereo broadcasts -> □
Set the FM MODE switch inside the cassette holder
to STEREO.
If the FM stereo signal is weak, set it to MONO. The
sound will be heard in monaural, but distodion will be

la que la recepcion sea mas nltida.
Programas de FM en estereo . 0
Mueva el interruptor FM MODE dentro del
compartimiento del casete a STEREO.
MONO. El sonido se escuchara monoaural pero no
habra tarta interferencia de ruidos en la recepcion.

Pour ecouter des emissions FM stereo -»0
Reglez le commutateur FM MODE dans le logement
de cassette a STEREO.
Si le son FM stereo est faible, reglez-le a MONO. Le
son sera monaural, mais la deformation sera reduite.

PRESETTING
Automatic presetting
You can preset up to 10 stations on each band.
1 Turn the HOLD/LOCK/OPEN switch to
LOCK.
2 Press RADIO ON/OFF BAND repeatedly to
select a band.
3 Keep AUTO PRESET pressed for about 2
The unit searches and memorizes the receivable
stations. Auto presetting ends when 10 stations
If there is a station you wish to skip (luring presetting
When a station is tuned in, scanning stops and the
tuned station is heard for 2 seconds. Press AUTO
PRESET within 2 seconds to skip this station.
Note
When broadcast signals are weak, stations cannot
be preset automatically. Preset them manually.

Using the preset numbers (1 -10), up to 10 stations
can be preset on each band.
1 Turn the HOLD/LOCK/OPEN switch to

2 Tune in to a station.
3 Keep one of the preset number buttons
pressed for 2 seconds to select the preset
number.
