PRECAUTIONS
To maintain good performance
Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot, cold, dusty or humid.
In particular, do not keep the unit:
• in a high humidity area such as a bathroom
• near a heater
• in an area exposed to direct sunlight (inside a parked car, where there
could be a considerable rise in temperature)
Note on listening with the headphones
• Listen at moderate volumes to avoid hearing damage.
• Do not wear the headphones while driving or cycling. It may create a
traffic hazard.
• You should use extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in poten-
tially hazardous situations, such as walking, jogging, etc.
• Wear them properly: L is left, R is right.
Cassette tapes A
• Check and tighten slack tape before use with a pencil or similar tool as
illustrated. Slack tape may break or get jammed in the mechanism.
• C-100 or longer tapes are extremely thin and easily deformed or dam-
aged. They are not recommended for use in this unit.
To use with the belt clip B

Replace the batteries when the tape speed slows down, volume decreases
or sound distorts.

Note on dry cell batteries
• Make sure that the 0and 9marks are correctly aligned.
• Do not mix different types of batteries, or an old battery with a new one.
• Never recharge the batteries, apply heat to them or take them apart.
• When not using the batteries, remove them to prevent needless wear.

PRECAUCIONES
Para mantener sus buenas prestaciones
No utilice el aparato en lugares muy calientes, fríos, con polvo o humedad.
Especialmente, no debe dejar el aparato:
• en lugares muy húmedos, por ejemplo en el baño.

• en un lugar expuesto a los rayos del sol (dentro de un coche estacionado,
donde puede aumentar mucho la temperatura)
Notas para escuchar con los cascos auriculares
• Escuche a un volumen no muy alto para no dañar sus oídos.
• No escuche con los auriculares mientras conduce o anda en bicicleta.
Puede convertirse en un peligro para el tráfico.
• Debe tener mucho cuidado o dejar de utilizar temporalmente en situaciones
potencialmente peligrosas, por ejemplo mientras camina, corre, etc.
• Utilícelos correctamente: L es izquierdo y R es derecho.
Cintas de casete A
• Verifique y tense las cintas flojas antes de utilizarlas, con un lápiz o
herramienta similar, tal como aparece en la figura. Una cinta floja puede
romperse o atascarse en el mecanismo.
• Las cintas C-100 o de mayor longitud son muy finas y pueden deformarse
o dañarse fácilmente. No se recomienda su uso en este aparato.

PARA COLOCAR PILAS C
Cambie las pilas cuando la cinta se mueva lentamente, el volumen se vuelva
bajo o se distorsiona el sonido.

Nota sobre las pilas
• Verifique que las marcas 0y 9están correctamente alineadas.

Basic operations
Press the following buttons.
• Rewinding is faster than fast forwarding. To fast forward the tape faster,
turn the cassette over and press the gREW button.
• Rewinding does not stop at the end of the tape. Be sure to press the
sSTOP button to release the gREW button.
Usable tapes
Use only Type I(normal) tapes.

RADIO RECEPTION F
Set the TAPE/AM/FM switch to TAPE to turn off the power after listening.
For better reception G
FM: The headphone cord functions as the FM antenna. Keep it extended.
AM: Turn the unit to find the position which gives the best reception.
MAINTENANCE H
To clean the head and the tape path
After every 10 hours of use, clean the head and the tape path with a head
cleaning cassette or cotton swab moistened with cleaning fluid or dena-
tured alcohol. (These cleaning kits are commercially available.)
When cleaning with a cotton swab a, wipe b, cand d.
To clean the cabinet
Use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution.
Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine or thinner.

• El rebobinado es más rápido que el avance rápido. Para avanzar más
rápidamente la cinta, invierta el casete y presione el botón gREW.
• El rebobinado no se para al final de la cinta. Presione el botón sSTOP
para soltar el botón gREW.
Cintas utilizables
Utilice sólo cintas de Tipo I(normales).
RECEPCION DE LA RADIO F
Mueva el interruptor TAPE/AM/FM a la posición TAPE para desconectar la
corriente después de escuchar.
Para una recepción óptima G
FM: El cable del casco auricular funciona como antena FM. Manténgala
alargada.
AM: Gire el aparato hasta encontrar la posición en la que se escuche
mejor.
MANTENIMIENTO H
Para limpiar la cabeza y el trayecto de la cinta
Después de cada 10 horas de uso, limpie la cabeza y el trayecto de la cinta
con un cassette para limpieza de cabezas o un algodón empapado en líquido
de limpieza o alcohol desnaturalizado. (Podrá adquirir estos juegos en los
comercios del ramo.)
Cuando haga la limpieza con un algodón a, limpie b, cy d.
Para limpiar el mueble
Utilice un paño suave ligeramente humedecido en una solución detergente
neutra.
No utilice disolventes fuertes tales como alcohol, bencina o diluyente de
pintura.
