TheMobileHub is designed to integrate your Nokiamobilephone
withyour Alpinecar audio system. Pleasenotethat theaudiosystem
and mobilephonearesold separately.

Safety First
Important Notes
Please read the basic safety guidelines set out below
before beginning any installation work. When connecting
to any other device, read its user’s guide also for detailed
safety instructions. Do not connect incompatible products.
RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately
shi el ded el ectr oni c syst ems i n mot or vehi cl es, for
example, electroni c fuel injection systems, el ectronic
anti-skid (anti -lock) braking systems, el ectroni c speed
control systems, or ai rbag systems. Check with the
manufacturer of the vehicle of any equipment that has
been added.
Make sure not to impact the steering or braking systems
or other key systems essential for proper operation of the
car when installi ng car kit components. Check to make
sure that deployment of the airbag i s not blocked or
impaired in any way.
The MobileHub may only be used in vehicles with a 12V,
negative ground electrical system. Failure to observe this
requirement will result in damage to the car's electronics.
Operating your MobileHub while the car engine is off may
drain the car battery.
Road Safety comes first. Do not use a handheld phone
while driving.
Switch off phone where prohibited. Do not switch the
phone on when wireless phone use is prohibited or when
it may cause interference or danger.
Switch off when refueling. Do not use your wirel ess
phone at a refueli ng point. Do not use it near fuel or
chemicals.
Take care not to cause damage to electrical cables, fuel
or brake lines, or safety equipment during installation.

installation and make sure that it cannot be reconnected
inadvertently. Do not smoke when working on the car.
Make sure that there is no source of flame or fire nearby.
The instructions contained in this installation guide aregeneral
guidelines which apply for theinstallation of theMobileHub in an
automobile. However, due to the wide variety of car types and
models available on the market, this guide cannot consider the
individual technical requirements relevant for any particular
automobile. Theinformation set out here serves solely as a general
overview.
The MobileHub may only be installed by a qualified mobile
electronics installer using theapproved original Nokia and Alpine
components supplied in thekit. Pleasenotethat failure to observe
this instruction may voidthewarranty.

The Mobi l eHub allows you t o conduct hands- f r ee
conversations on your Nokia mobile phone. You can
choose to operate your Nokia mobile phone using the
phone's key pad or via the car audio system's controls.
Since menu text can be shown on the display of the car
radio system, this allows you to secure the mobile phone
holder in any convenient location inside the vehicle.
The wiring diagram below shows the function of each of the
cables. When laying the cables, take care to position them
so that they are located as far as possible from the
electronics systems installed in your car in order to avoid
electromagnetic interference. Make sure that the cables are
not subjected to mechanical wear and tear (for example, not
laid under car seats or over sharp edges).
The MobileHub is designed for operation with MobileHub-
ready Alpine Ai-Net car audio systems. If you are using the
CDA-7998 or CDA-7897, you will be able to utilize a full
range of MobileHub features. Please see your car audio
system's owner's manual for details.

Operation
For information on the operation of your mobilephone,
pleaserefer to the Nokia User's Guide supplied with the
phone. When aMobileHub compatiblecar radio is used (like
theCDA-7998or CDA-7897) afull rangeof phone control
features becomes available. See your Alpine car radio
owner's manual for further details.
With theMobileHub, you can chooseto operate your Nokia
mobile phone using thephone's keypad or over theAlpine
car radio. All phonecalls madewhilethemobilephoneis in
its holder will only run over thehands-free microphonewith
voiceheard over thecar radioloudspeakers.
The system cable links the MobileHub with your car's
electronics system and with the Alpine car radio system. See
thewiringdiagram for exact instructions. Pleasemakesure
that thePARKINGBRAKEwireis connected to the emergency
brakecontact or youwill not beableto utilizetheentirerange
of features available. (Some features may only beaccessed
whenthecar is parkedandtheemergency brakeison.)
After your MobileHub has been installed, it needs to be
checked to ensurethat it is working properly. Refer to your
Alpineaudio system user's guidefor information on specific
MobileHub features. When testing thefunction of thekit,
also check that it in no way impairs the driver during
operationof thevehicle.

IMPORTANT!
For vehiclesequipped with an air bag, remember that an air
baginflates withgreat force. Do not placeobjects, including
both installed or portablewirelessequipment intheareaover
theair bag or in theair bag deployment area. If in-vehicle
wirelessequipment isimproperlyinstalled andtheair bag
towards thedriver's mouth. Thebest locations are often
near therearview mirror or to theleft of thesun visor. Make
sureto keep themicrophoneat least 3 feet away from the
radioloudspeakers to avoid feedback.
Should you wish to operateyour Nokiamobilephoneusing
thephone's keypad, position the active swivel holder so that
thephone display is clearly visibleand the keys easy to reach
from thedriver's seat. Connect thewires to theMobileHub
as shownin theillustration.
Usethe packagescrews supplied in the kit and the holder
mounting plate to fix themobile phone holder in thecar
interior. Select a suitable location on the dashboard or
console, making surethat theunit does not impair thedriver
whenoperatingthevehicle.
Your MobileHub is designed to be connected to an external
GSM antenna. However, if your car is equipped with a
combination radio/GSM antenna with a frequency separating
filter, thismay beused instead.
Use the screws supplied to mount theMobileHub main unit
inalocationwherethecables can beeasilyconnected.
Mount thehands-free microphone approximately 12 inches
from the driver's head and position it so that it points
Takecareto mount themicrophoneso that it is not exposed
to air streams from thevents. Do not lay themicrophone
cable in the heating, ventilation, or ACsystem. Use the
adhesive tape supplied to affix the microphone as it
minimizes car noiseandvibrationbeingtransmitted toit.
TheAi-Net cablesupplied with your MobileHubwill allowit to
beconnected to any Ai-Net ready car radio (seeTechnical
Requirements).
Caution: In order to comply with FCCRFexposure guidelines
for mobile transmitting devices, aminimum distanceof 8
inches (20 cm) must bemaintained between theantenna and
all persons.
You will hear theperson you are talking to on your mobile
phone over the audio system loudspeakers. When you
accept an incoming call or an outgoing call is connected, the
car radio automatically mutes theaudio source (radio, CD or
DVD) and thecall is switchedover to theloudspeakers
