Introducon
This manual applies to the UHM210-11 digital microscope. The informaon in this manual is provided to help you famil-
iarize yourself with the assembly and use of the products. Please read thoroughly before using the products, and keep
this manual with the product for reference.

Safety
Before using your AmScope microscope, please read the following safety precauons carefully to avoid causing damage to
your AmScope product, or injury to yourself or others.
Turn o power if the instrument exhibits unusual or dangerous behavior such as eming smoke or unusual odors. These
can be indicaons of electrical problems, in which case the instrument should be disconnected from any power source if
safe to do so. Other indicators can be a loud buzzing sound or crackling. Contact AmScope to report such behavior.
Do not use around ammable liquids or gases. Electric instruments can ignite ammable substances which could result
in an explosion or re.
Do not use in a wet environment. Electrical components of the instrument can discharge when exposed to water, poten-
ally resulng in damage to the instrument, or injury to yourself or others.
Only use the provided power adapter or authorized replacement. Incompable power adapters can cause damage to the
instrument. If you should lose the included power adapter, please contact AmScope for informaon about a replacement.
Do not dismantle. Dismantling can result in damage to the instrument, and potenal exposure to dangerous materials or
electric current.

Operaon
This microscope can be used as a standalone device when paired with an HDMI monitor, or as a USB device when
connected to a PC. When connected to a PC using USB, the microscope will enter PC mode, taking precedence over the
standalone funcons.
Arculang Arm
The arculang arm can be adjusted around three joints to posion the microscope at virtually any angle and posion
within the reach of the arm. All joints are locked simultaneously using the locking knob. Before adjusng the arm, be
sure to support the microscope with a hand. Next loosen the locking knob unl the arm joints are loose enough to easily
move. Posion the microscope as desired, then ghten the locking knob. Avoid extending the arm beyond the rear edge
of the support plate, as this could lead to the microscope pping over.

Focus
The microscope’s focus is mechanically controlled using a knob on the control panel. Rotang the knob clockwise will
extend the working distance to focus on objects farther away. Rotang the knob counter-clockwise will reduce the work-
ing distance to focus on closer objects. Magnicaon is also aected by these adjustments, increasing as the working
distance is shortened.
Illuminaon
The microscope is equipped with two independent ring lights. Each ring light is controlled by a separate knob on the side
of the microscope. While the microscope is connected to a power source, the ring lights will operate independent of the
microscope’s power switch. The knob engraved with the number 1 controls the outer ring light which provides diuse
illuminaon which is suitable for most observaon as it more even. The knob engraved with the number 2 controls the
inner ring light which provides direct illuminaon which is well-suited for viewing surface details such as scratches and
textures. Rotate either knob clockwise to increase brightness, or counter-clockwise to decrease brightness.

Operang Mode: HDMI
To operate in HDMI mode, the microscope must be aached to a power supply using the included USB cable. The cable
has a type-C connector on one end, and a type-A connector on the other. The USB-C connector must be connected to the
microscope’s USB/Power port. To power the microscope using AC power, plug the included AC-USB adapter into an AC
outlet, then plug the USB cable’s type-A connector into the USB port on the adapter. Alternavely, a 5V USB power bank
can be used as long as it can supply at least 900mA. In this case, the USB cable’s type-A connector would plug directly
into one of the power bank’s type-A USB ports.
To connect this microscope to an HDMI monitor, television, or other compable viewing device, use the included HDMI
cable or another compable cable with the appropriate connectors. The included cable has a mini-HDMI connector on
one end, and a standard HDMI connector on the other. Plug the mini-HDMI connector into the microscope’s HDMI port.
Plug the other end into the viewing device’s HDMI input. Move the microscope’s power switch to the “I” (on) posion.
Aer a few seconds, a live image will be displayed on the screen.
While in HDMI mode, the microscope uses internal soware to capture images and video, as well as to control the imag-
ing device’s sengs. Several icons may be displayed on the screen, displaying such things as the imaging mode, expo-
sure, white balance, and media status. The icons will be hidden aer 10 seconds of inacvity, but will display again when
a control buon is pressed.
Recording Media
In order to capture or play photos/videos in any mode, a formaed MicroSD card must be inserted into the MicroSD slot.
When compable media is present, the icon will be displayed. If no compable media is found, the icon will be
displayed.
Captured photos will be automacally saved in JPEG format to the MicroSD card using a sequenal naming convenon:
photo_00001.jpg, photo_00002.jpg, etc.. Captured videos will be automacally saved in MOV format to the MicroSD
card using a sequenal naming convenon: video_0001.jpg, video_0002.jpg, etc..
This microscope is compable with MicroSD cards up to 128GB. In the case that a 64GB or larger card is not recognized
by this device, and the formang funcon does not work, it is recommended to format the card as FAT32 using a com-
puter.

Imaging Modes
This microscope has three imaging modes: Photo, Video, and Playback. Each mode will have access to sengs and func-
ons which are accessed by using the control panel. The control buons may have dierent funcons depending on the
mode and which screen is currently displayed. Addionally, pressing and holding certain buons for 2 seconds will ac-
vate specic funcons depending on the mode. While no menu is displayed, pressing the right buon will cycle through
the imaging modes.
Photo and Video Modes
Photo and Video modes allow you to view live video and capture images. An assortment of sengs and funcons are
available in both modes to opmize image quality and user experience. Some sengs or funcons are exclusive to their
respecve modes. The control panel’s buons provide the same funconality in both modes aside from the Capture
buon which saves sll images in Photo mode, and starts or stops recording in Video mode.

When the menu is closed, the buons control the following funcons:
Press the center buon to capture a photo (Photo mode) or to start/stop recording (Video mode).
Press the top buon to increase digital zoom up to 4X.
Press the boom buon to decrease digital zoom.
Press the le buon to open the sengs menu.
Press and hold the le buon for 2 seconds to freeze the image.
Press and hold the right buon for 2 seconds to display a recle.
When the menu is open, the buons control the following funcons:
Press the top buon to navigate up.
Press the boom buon to navigate down.
Press the le buon to exit the current seng or menu.
Press the right buon to select a menu or opon.

The rst page in Photo and Video modes includes sengs which control qual-
ies of the image including Brightness, Exposure, White Balance, and High
Dynamic Range (HDR).
The Brightness seng can only be used when the Exposure mode is
set to Auto. Since Auto Exposure aempts to render an average mid-
dle-grey exposure, Brightness will increase the exposure target incre-
mentally using values from 1 to 24.
Exposure controls the amount of light gathered to form an image.
Auto mode connuously uses an average of the levels seen across the
eld of view, and aempts to achieve a middle grey. Single Auto mode
performs the same funcon as Auto, but only at the me it is selected
rather than connuously. Manual allows you to select a value from 1 to
10 to manually target the appropriate level.
White Balance is used to compensate for color casts caused by various
light sources. Auto mode aempts to compensate for detected color
biases to render a more neutral image. Standard mode uses a pre-
dened color temperature as the neutral target. Manual mode allows
you to adjust each primary color (red, green, blue) independently using
values from 1 to 128.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) compresses exposure values across the im-
age to limit excess highlights and shadows. This seng can be toggled
on or o.

The second page in Photo mode includes Image Rotaon, Color, Capture
Mode, and Quick Review.
Image Rotaon allows you to change the orientaon of the on-screen
image. Mirror ips the image from le to right. Rotate 180° rotates the
image. Flip inverts the image vercally.
Color allows you to toggle the color mode between Normal (color) and
Black & White for a greyscale image.
Capture Mode determines allows you to set a delay between the me
you press the capture buon and the me at which the image is cap-
tured. This is useful to avoid camera shake, or when manipulaon of
the subject is needed which would require the use of your hands.
Quick Review sets the amount of me an image will remain on-screen
aer it is captured.

The second page in Video mode includes Image Rotaon, Color, Resoluon,
and Loop Recording
Image Rotaon allows you to change the orientaon of the on-screen
image. Mirror ips the image from le to right. Rotate 180° rotates the
image. Flip inverts the image vercally.
Color allows you to toggle the color mode between Normal (color) and
Black & White for a greyscale image.
Resoluon sets the video image size and frame-rate. Opons include
1920x1080 30fps and 1280x720 60fps.
Loop Recording can be used to limit the maximum recording me to
either 3, 5, or 10 minutes. Aer the set amount of me has lapsed
during recording, video will connue to be recorded, but overwring
the previously recorded video.

The third page in Photo and Video modes includes screen tools such as Fro-
zen, Recle, Frequency, and Auto Power O.
Frozen mode freezes the live video stream to display a stac image.
This can be toggled on and o.
The Recle seng sets an on-screen overlay to aid in measurements,
segmenng, and counng. Recle1 is a simple crosshair. Recle2 is a
grid of squares. Recle3 is a crosshair with concentric circles.
Frequency sets the capture frequency. This can be set to 50Hz or 60Hz,
and should correspond to your power system’s frequency to avoid
icker.
Auto Power O can be used to automacally disable the video output
aer a period of inacvity. The enabled opons include 30 minutes or
60 minutes.

The fourth page in Photo and Video modes includes Language, Date/Time,
Default Sengs, and Format.
Language sets the system’s display language. Opons include Japanese,
English, Simplied Chinese, and Tradional Chinese.
Date/Time allows you to set the current date and me which can be
included in mestamps.
Default Seng will return the system’s sengs to their factory de-
faults.
Format can be used to format a MicroSD card. This is necessary if
the card is not already formaed, or is using an incompable format.
When this funcon is used, all data on the card will be deleted.

The h page in Photo and Video modes includes Display Time and Version.
Display Time determines whether the me will be displayed on-screen.
This can be toggled between on and o.
Version displays the current rmware version.

The Playback mode allows you to review recorded photos and videos.

Playback Menu
The Playback menu has three tools including Delete, Protect, and Slide Show
The Delete tool allows you to delete the currently displayed le or all
les in the media folder.
When one of the Delete opons is chosen, you will be asked to conrm
the deleon.
The Protect tool allows you to lock and unlock les to protect them
from deleon. You can choose to lock or unlock the currently displayed
le or all les.
The Slide Show tool allows you to display saved images in sequence.
For video les, the rst frame will be displayed. Select an interval op-
on (2 seconds, 5 seconds, or 8 seconds), then press the OK buon to
begin the slide show. The images will connue to display in a loop unl
the Menu buon is pressed.

Operang Mode: PC
To operate in PC mode, connect the microscope to a Windows computer using a USB connecon. The included USB cable
has a type-C connector on one end, and a type-A connector on the other. The USB-C connector must be connected to
the microscope’s USB/Power port. Move the power switch to the “I” (on) posion. Once a PC connecon is detected, the
microscope will enter PC mode. If the microscope is connected to an HDMI display, a blue screen will be displayed stang
the microscope is operang in PC mode. The control panel’s buons will not funcon.
When connected to a PC, the microscope will funcon as a UVC (USB Video Class) camera. It can be used by compable
Windows soware such as the Camera app, or with KoPaCapture soware which is available on the AmScope website on
the soware downloads page.
