WARNING
The carer should ensure the Overbed Table is correctly positioned
and adjusted to allow the patient to use it safely and comfortably.
DO NOT lean or sit on the Overbed Table.
DO NOT exceed the Safe Working Load of 25kg evenly distributed.
WARNING
Do not place hot utensils, dishes, bowls, cups etc. directly on the table
surface. Maximum heat resistance 60°C or 140°F.
Take care when moving the Overbed Table over rough or uneven surfaces.
Lift the Overbed Table over large ridges and wide gaps.

1. INTRODUCTION
The Arjo Prioma Overbed Table has a number of variants with firm flat surfaces suitable
for everyday activities such as eating, writing, reading etc. The single column construction
and adjustable height makes it suitable for use with most types of beds and chairs.

•OBT1, OBT3 & OBT4 have a fixed one-piece top surface

3. ASSEMBLY
The Same Assembly Procedure is Used for all OBT Variants.
Assembly Instructions
Components List:
Tools Required:
•Base Assembly (Castors Fitted)
•Spanner 13mm (ring or open)
•Lift Column Assembly
•Allen Key 5mm
•Top Assembly (Either Fixed or Split Top)
•M8 x 50mm Bolts x 3
•M8 x 15mm Cap Screws x 4
•M8 ID Washers x 7
WARNING
The central column is packaged under compression. The column will
expand rapidly when the retaining screw is released if the below process is
not followed correctly. It is important that there is a safe working area for this
operation and that extreme care is taken.
Assembly Procedure:
1. Unpack components from packaging
2. With the base assembly on its side, secure the inner column to the base assembly
using three M8 x 50 hexagon head bolts and M8 ID washers as shown on figure 3.

3. Place Top Frame assembly face down onto a carpeted or similar protective surface
in order to prevent damaging or scratching the top.
4. Secure the outer column to the top frame assembly using four M8 x 15 cap screws
and M8 ID washers – refer figure 4.
5. Whilst the overbed table is in the upside-down position, carefully loosen off and
remove the column compression retaining screw shown on figure 2and allow the
column to fully extend. Be sure no person is leaning over the overbed table when
carrying out this procedure.
6. With the aid of a second person turnover and place the overbed table on to its four
castors.
7. Check for correct and smooth operation and that all fixings are secure.
8. Wipe over clean as per cleaning instructions (page 7).

Caution
Split tops only; take care not to allow the main (hinged) top to swing away
from the frame as this could damage the mechanism and cause injury.

4. OPERATION
Height Adjustment (All OBT Variants)
To Lower: support the top with one hand
and lift the release lever (A) Figure 5.
located at the top of the column.
Push down on the tabletop to the
required height and let go of the lever to
lock in position.
To avoid entrapment, the Overbed
Table is designed to allow it to rise if
pressure is applied from underneath.
To Raise: lift the top to the required
height. An automatic lock will prevent the
table from descending when you let go.
It is advisable to support the base
with your foot when lifting the top.
Split Top Tilt Adjustment
The tilt angle of the main tabletop (B)
Figure 6. can be adjusted to one of five
different angles.
To Increase the Tilt: Hold the edge of
the main tabletop (B) Figure 6. and lift
until the ratchet (C) Figure 6. engages at
the required angle.
To Reduce the Tilt: Hold the main table-
top by edge (B) Figure 6. and raise to
maximum tilt. Once maximum tilt is
reached, it can be lowered down to a flat
position.
WARNING
Take care not to trap hands or fingers between the fixed and moving parts of the table.
Do not place hot drinks on the tilting table section.

5. CLEANING
Cleaning
It is strongly recommended that protective clothing be used when carrying
out any cleaning processes on the Prioma Overbed Table.
•Wipe the Overbed Table with a soft cloth moistened with hot water and mild detergent (or
hospital’s recommended cleaning solution). It is recommended that the cloth be a white
material to prevent bleeding of die colours onto the product surface. Take extra care in
areas that can harbour dirt or dust.
•Start by cleaning the upper sections of the Overbed Table and work along all horizontal
surfaces. Work methodically towards the lower areas and clean the castors last. Take
extra care to clean areas that may trap dust or dirt.
•Rinse with clean water and a dry clean cloth.
•To remove potentially infectious materials such as body fluids, or when the product has
been used by someone with a known infection. Clean with NaDCC (e.g. Presept,
Actichlor) at 10,000 ppm of available chlorine. Rinse and dry.
•Allow the cleaned parts to dry before replacing the mattress.
Caution
Do not use abrasive Hypo-carbonate or Phenolic compounds or pads.
Disinfecting
After cleaning the Overbed Table as described above, wipe all surfaces with sodium
dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) at a concentration of 1,000 parts per million (0.1%) of
available chlorine.
In the case of pooling body fluids, e.g. blood, the concentration of NaDCC should be
increased to 10,000 parts per million (1%) of available chlorine.
Caution
Avoid excessive wetting of the product, particularly the tabletop.
Do not use abrasive compounds or pads.
Do not use phenol-based disinfectants.
Do not use excessively hot water. The tabletop has a maximum heat resistance
temperature of 60°C or 140°F.

6. MAINTENANCE
Preventative Maintenance
The Prioma overbed tables are designed to provide years of trouble free service, however
after prolonged or improper use the castors, mechanical lift mechanism and rollers or tilt
mechanism (Rastomat) may become worn or damaged.
The following preventative maintenance procedures should be carried out every 12 months
unless otherwise specified.
WARNING
Before starting any service or maintenance procedures, ensure that the equipment
has been adequately decontaminated.
Avoid skin contact with lubricants. Rubber gloves and protective clothing should be
worn when carrying out maintenance work.
Use only replacement spare parts that are approved by Arjo.
Dispose of waste components and materials safely in accordance with applicable
national and local regulations.
Other than general maintenance activities all other service or repair work must
be performed by qualified and trained persons who are approved by Arjo.
•Check that the height adjustment mechanism functions smoothly and that the main
table locks securely in position over the full range of the Overbed Table height.
•Check (every 3 months) that all four castors are securely fixed to the base frame
and that they swivel and rotate freely. Remove any debris that may have been
picked up by the wheels.
•Check that the split tabletop operates smoothly and locks securely at each tilt
position – Variant OBT2 only.
•Check for any damage to the base frame moulded cover – Variants OBT1 & OBT2
only.
•Inspect product regularly for signs of wear. Any suspected faults or damage should
immediately be reported to the supplier and the product taken out of service.

7. WARRANTY & SERVICE
Product Identification
The overbed table variant number REF and serial number SN can be located on the tables
telescoping mast tube at the back of the table towards the bottom of the tube.
Arjo’s standard terms and conditions apply to all sales. A copy is available on request.
These contain full details of warranty terms and do not limit the statutory rights of the
consumer.
