INTRODUCTION
This User Manual applies to «TOP-ЕС-IP2 Expansion unit» RMLT.468366.009
manufactured by Armtel LLC, and is intended to familiarize the User with the device and the
procedure for its operation at the installation site.
TOP-ЕС-IP2 Expansion unit is designed for the expansion of two-way communication
capabilities as part of IPN system manufactured by Armtel LLC.
Short name of product – TOP-EC-IP2.
Maintenance personnel for TOP-EC-IP2 IP2 shall be appointed by the management at
the installation site.
The maintenance personnel shall be required to know the operating procedure of
TOP-EC-IP2 to the extent provided for by the User Manual.

SAFETY PROVISIONS
During installation and operation observe the safety measures specified by local codes
and regulations on electrical safety.
To avoid electric shock, do not:
−turning on the device with damaged power and interface cables or connectors.
ATTENTION! NEVER DISMANTLE THE PRODUCT CONNECTED TO MAINS.
Installation and connection of the product only in a de-energized state.
Do not use the product in rooms with high humidity (more than 80 %) or conductive
dust.
ВIn order to ensure fire safety, follow the following rules:
−before connecting the product to the power supply, make sure the power and
communication cables are properly insulated;
−protect power and communication cables from damage.

1 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1.1 Features
TOP-ЕС-IP2 Expansion unit is designed for expanding the number of function direct
keys for TOP-DIS-IР2 Desktop call station RMLT.465311.009 / TOP-PAD-IP2 Desktop
intercom station RMLT.465329.001 manufactured by LLC Armtel.
TOP-ЕС-IP2 can be applied in distributed and centralized digital intercom and Public
Address / General Alarm communication systems (based on allotted SIP server manufactured
by Armtel LLC) at metal, chemical, oil-processing, oil and gas, energy and transport industries
or at facilities of the same type. TOP-EC-IP2 is designed for installation in control, office
rooms and premises.
The external appearance of TOP-EC-IP2 is illustrated at Figure 1.

TOP-ЕС-IP2 does not perform any functions without connecting to
TOP-DIS-IР2 or TOP-PAD-IP2.
TOP-ЕС-IP2 performs the following functions:
−simplex communication with loud-speaking function for subscribers over SIP
and «Armtel-IP» protocols using preprogrammed function keys via TOP-DIS-IР2
or TOP-PAD-IP2 connected to TOP-ЕС-IP2;
−duplex loudspeaker communication of subscribers via SIP protocol;
−indication of incoming and outgoing calls, line status (busy), missed call via
SIP protocols, “Armtel-IP” by means of function key illumination, as well as LED
indication on the front panel;

−increasing of function keys total number up to 126 pcs. by connecting of
TOP-DIS-IP2, up to 84 pcs. by connecting of ТОР-PAD-IP2;
−allocation of addresses for additional target keys to TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2
using DIP-switches.
Configuration of TOP-ЕС-IP2 shall be carried out using the personal computer of the
IPN network administrator on which IPN2 RU.RMLT.00041-01 IPN Config Tool software
configuration application is installed.

1.3 Operations conditions
Environmental requirements for TOP-EC-IP2 in operating mode:
−ambient temperature range from minus 20 to plus 40 °С;
−relative humidity up to 80 % at 25 °C, at lower temperatures, without
condensing;
−atmospheric pressure within the range from 84 to 106,7kPa.
Note - The limiting low ambient temperature, after the effect of which, the normal
functioning of the product is guaranteed is minus 20 °C.
Ingress protection of TOP-EC-IP2 complies with IP42.
TOP-EC-IP2 complies with the requirements electromagnetic interference according to
IEC 61000-6-2:2005, with not lower B quality criterion. The electromagnetic interference from
TOP-EC-IP2 does not exceed the codes specified in IEC 61000-6-4:2006.

1.4.1 The external appearance and overall dimensions of TOP-EC-IP2 in desktop version
are illustrated at Figure 2.

TOP-ЕС-IP2 can be used in desktop version, in wall-mounted version, can also be
mounted on a turntable or flushed into the desktop, made of wood, metal or plastic. For
more information, see the Section «Installation, connection and dismantling»of this Manual.
1.4.2 TOP-EC-IP2 is designed in a flat plastic enclosure, adjustable stand provides
the inclination angle for better visibility of keys.

LED is placed at the top of the panel that signals for lack of communication as well as
for the type of incoming or outgoing communication with solid light or flashing similar to
TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2.
To impart stability, the stand is equipped with rubber legs at the bottom. To adjust the
stand in desktop version, see Figure 3:

To adjust the stand:
a) turn the unit upside down disconnecting it from the power supply and
interfaces, pull out four plugs from the grooves to install the stand and
simultaneously press the two latches at the base of the stand;
b) insert the stand stoppers in the far-end grooves in the bottom of the enclosure;
c) push the stand into the near-end grooves.
Remove the stand in the reverse order.
1.4.3 A plate with designation of sockets and address switches located at the base of
the enclosure is illustrated a Figure 4.

1.4.4 To ensure reliable connection of the cables for TOP-ЕС-IP2, they can be placed in
special grooves in the base of the enclosure (4 pcs.) and stand (2 pcs.) in accordance with
Figure 5. When TOP-ЕС-IP2 is delivered to the customer, the grooves at the base of the
enclosure are closed with proper plugs (not illustrated at Figure 5), which should be removed
from the grooves before laying the cables.

1.4.5 The keys with LED illumination are arranged by seven pieces in a row, the number
of rows is six. The keys are equipped with a silicone membrane to ensure the declared safety
degree of TOP-ЕС-IP2. When you press the key, the conductive base closes the pads on
the main board.
For any key in the configuration of TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2, the functions defined
for a particular TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2 can be assigned. The device and the operation
of the keys, the way to set labels with the functional designation and the LED indication are
similar to the TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2 function keys and are given in Appendix I.
A template for printing is given in Appendix F.
1.4.6 Up to four TOP-ЕС-IP2 Expansion modules can be attached to each TOP-DIS-IP2
and up to two TOP-ЕС-IP2 can be attached to each TOP-PAD-IP2 with respect to the limits
provided in 2.1.2. The key numbers should be assigned with DIP-Switches (positions «LOW»
or «HIGH») located at the base of TOP-ЕС-IP2 enclosure (see Figure 2) before use with
accordance with Table 2.

1.5 Labeling
On the bottom side of TOP-EC-IP2 casing is placed bilingual nameplate.
The nameplate contains the following information:
−name, trademark and reference information of the manufacturer;
−product name and description;
−permissible operating temperature range;
−degree of protection provided by enclosures (IP code);
−rated supply voltage value;
−electrical class III mark according GOST IEC 61140-2012;
−commercialization mark for products on the market of Customs Union member
states;
−special waste disposal mark;
−product serial number;
−date of manufacture;
−other information if necessary.
The serial number is unique for each product.

1.6 Package
TOP-EC-IP2 with the assembly kit and documents, which come with the supply
package, is packed in consumer package (cardboard box).
Before packing in consumer package (cardboard box), TOP-EC-IP2 with the assembly
kit and operational documentations are placed in plastic film covers that have the
corresponding marking. TOP-EC-IP2 is additionally exposed to temporary anticorrosion
protection with technical silica gel.
A label in Russian language and English language is glued onto the consumer package,
said label containing the following inscriptions and symbols:
−product name and description;
−name, trademark and reference information of the manufacturer;
−handling symbols according to GOST 14192-96 and CU TR 005/2011;
−commercialization mark for products on the market of Customs Union member
states;
−serial number and date of manufacture
The package is made according to the drawings of the product manufacturer and
enables storage of unit, provided requirements set in Section 5 are met.
For shipment of the TOP-EC-IP2 from the manufacturer, consumer package contents
are placed in the package place, which ensures protection from mechanical damage, direct
ingress of atmospheric precipitation, dust and solar radiation during transportation.

2 INTENDED USE
The product is designed for continuous 24-hour a day operations. After
commissioning, the product does not require operator intervention, unless:
−maintenance;
−product configuration changes.
Maintenance personnel must be strictly guided by this document in compliance with
safety regulations.
The product along with the operational documentation is delivered to the customer in
packaged form.
2.1 Operating limits
2.1.1 The product shall be used under exposure factors and ambient parameters
which do not exceed permissible values given in 1.3.
2.1.2 The number of TOP-EC-IP2 used depends on the characteristics of the
power bus to which TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2 are connected. TOP-DIS-IP2
power is supplied from PoE injector under IEEE802.3at standard, it is allowed
to connect to it no more than two TOP-EC-IP2. The use of up to four TOP-EC-IP2 is
permitted only if the unit is powered by from an external 12 V power supply with a
power of at least 25 W.
When TOP-PAD-IP2 powered from an external 12 V power supply with a power
of at least 25 W, up to two TOP-EC-IP2 are allowed.
2.1.3 The requirements for operating conditions and the choice of the place
of installation given in this document take into account the most typical
factors that affect the operation of TOP-EC-IP2.
Factors that cannot be predicted, estimated or verified, and which the manufacturer
was unable to factor in during development may exist or arise during operation at the
operating facility.
In the event of such factors, find another operating site where said factors do not exist
or do not affect operation of the product.

2.2 Preparation for use
Preparation of TOP-EC-IP2 for use shall be carried out by the manufacturer’s
representatives, or personnel trained to operate Armtel LLC products. The main preparation
of the product for use is carried out during installation and connection. Preparation of
TOP-EC-IP2 for operation involves a series of steps:
−checking package contents in accordance with the scope of supply;
−visual inspection of the product for damage (cracks, dents, chips, etc.). During
visual inspection, pay attention to the integrity of the product, connection and
state of cables, state of key switches, buttons, keypad (all keys/buttons must be
easy to press and must easily return to the original state);
−install and connect TOP-EC-IP2 at the operating site (see Section 2.4).
2.3 Safety precautions
TOP-EC-IP2 functions with the power supply of ultra-low 5V DC; no special safety
measures specified by local codes and regulations on electrical safety are required.
2.4 Installation, connection and dismantling
2.4.1 The main installation position of TOP-EC-IP2 is desktop mounting. With
the desktop installation of TOP-EC-IP2 on the base of the enclosure there is a stand for
better visibility of the keys (see 1.4.2). in order to provide extra stiffness the TOP-ЕС-IP2 can
be attached to TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2 by aluminum junction plates supplied with
additional modules, which are ordered together with TOP-EC-IP2 in the corresponding
supply. Dimensions of plates, mounting configuration are given in Appendix B.
2.4.2 By request supplied included:
−TOP-ЕС-IP2 wall-mounting kit: aluminum brackets (2 pcs.) and junction plate,
and mounting kit. Marking and method of installing TOP-EC-IP2 on the wall are
given in Appendix C.
−HS mounting kit: junction plate (2 pcs.) and mounting kit.
2.4.3 The layout and recommendations for flush-mounting of TOP-ЕС-IP2 are given in
Appendix D.
2.4.4 Before connecting the communication cables, the plugs should be removed from
the grooves in the base of the enclosure and in the stand (see Figure 5).
TOP-EC-IP2 connects to TOP-DIS-IP2 via I2C interface via RJ-25 sockets with the cable
supplied. A similar cable connects the optional TOP-EC-IP2 Expansion module if used. For
proper connection of interface cables, a plate with the designation of external connectors is
used (see Figure 4). Pin Numbering and Pinout are given in Appendix A. Connected to
TOP-EC-IP2 cables are laid in grooves housing base or stand with 1.4.4 and Figure 5.

Set the numbers of additional function keys of devices connected to TOP-EC-IP2 in
accordance with 1.4.6.
2.4.5 TOP-EC-IP2 is dismantled in the following order:
−disconnect stand (if used);
−disconnect all connection cables;
−disconnect junction plates (if used);
−in case wall-mounting – remote the structure from the bracket and detach
junction plates and disconnect cables;
−in case flush-mounting – detach from a desktop and disconnect cables;
−pack in consumer package (cardboard box).

2.5 Operation
The procedure for assigning functions to the keys of TOP-ЕС-IP2 is similar to
the procedure for assigning functions to the keys of TOP-DIS-IP2 desktop call station and
provided in the document «TOP-DIS-IP2 Desktop call station. User Manual»
RMLT.465311.009.
Before start-up of TOP-ЕС-IP2, the data with initial settings is transferred to it. The data
is transferred under the control of software within the initialization cycle through
the interface. The assignment of keys and initial settings are specified as the initialization
data.
2.6 Troubleshooting
Possible problems and solutions are given in Table 3.

3 MAINTENANCE
3.1 General guidelines
Maintenance should be performed to ensure reliable operation and constant
availability of TOP-EC-IP2.
The maintenance entities are:
−TOP-EC-IP2;
−the condition and connection of cables connected to the product.
Maintenance shall be performed by personnel in charge of maintaining
TOP-EC-IP2.
Maintenance shall be performed once a year without switching off power.
3.2 Safety precautions
TOP-EC-IP2 functions with the power supply of ultra-low 5V DC; no special safety
measures specified by local codes and regulations on electrical safety are required.
3.3 Maintenance procedure
Maintenance includes the following activities:
−visual inspection of TOP-EC-IP2 enclosure for mechanical damages (cracks,
dents, etc.) on the enclosure, cover and keys;
−visual inspection of the incoming cables to TOP-EC-IP2 (should not be
compacted and have damage at the outer shell);
−check for safety connection to the cable sockets - the cables should not have
any tension;
−cleaning of TOP-EC-IP2 surface from dirt, using for this purpose the wet sponge
with mild soap solution or wet wipes for cleaning office appliances; the use of
chemically active solvents is not admitted;
−when installing TOP-EC-IP2 on the wall, verify that the brackets are properly
fastened;
The approximate time of TOP-EC-IP2 maintenance is 15 minutes.
All actions carried out on the product, defects found and negative findings of the
maintenance shall be recorded in the special logbooks.

3.4 Checking operability
The operability of TOP-EC-IP2 should be checked when checking the operability of
TOP-DIS-IP2 / TOP-PAD-IP2.
To function keys test press the keys, requesting the subscribers assigned to them in
the IPN Config Tool, or check the other functions assigned to the keys.
If necessary, allowed to change the configuration of the product, which is made from
a PC administrator IPN network.
