System Requirements
Before using the WLAN Adapter, ensure that your system meets the following
minimum requirements:
• Windows XP/2000/2003/Vista/7, Linux (for Linux Kernel 2.4, 2.6.29)
• 128MB system memory or larger
• 750MHz processor or higher
• The ASUS WLAN utility cannot run on Windows®7 and Linux.
• Install the utilities and driver before using the WLAN Adapter.
Installing the utilities and driver on Windows®XP/Vista OS
To install the utilities and driver on Windows®XP/Vista:
1. Insert the support CD into your optical drive. An autorun screen appears if Autorun is
enabled on your computer.
Installation Procedures
NOTE: If Autorun is disabled, double-click SETUP.EXE from the root
directory of the supportCD.
The WLAN status indicators
Tne AIR indicator on the ASUS WLAN card shows the status of the ASUS
WLAN card.
Orientating the antennas
The ASUS WLAN Card has two external antennas. For the maximum range
and best link quality, we recommend that you adjust the external antenna
straight up.
OFF: No wireless activity.
Blinking: Transmitting or receiving
wireless data

3. Click Next on the Welcome screen.
2. Select your language and click Install
ASUS WLAN Card Utilities/Driver.
5. Click Next to create short cut.
4. Click Next to use the default Destination Folder
or click Browse to select another folder.
8. Click OK to disable Windows Zero
Conguration and allow ASUS WLAN
utilities to manage your wireless network.
6. The installation process takes several
seconds.
7. When Setup is complete, click Finish to
exit the installation wizard and restart the
computer.

Installing the driver on Windows
®

1. Place the Support CD into your computer's optical drive.
2. From the Windows®Start menu, right-click Computer then select Properties.
3. Click Device Manager at the left side of the screen.
4. The Device Manager windows appears. From the Other devices category, right-click
802.11 n WLAN then select Update Driver Software.
5. Select Browse my computer for driver software.

6. Click Browse to locate the Support CD folder, then click Next to start the driver installation.
You may also click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, then
select ASUS 802.11 n Network Adapter and click Next to start the driver installation.
7. Windows has successfully updated your driver software. Click Close and restart your
computer to activate the new settings.
Installing the driver on Linux OS
Refer to the README text in the Linux zip le included in the support CD.
Obtain the Linux driver source code from the support CD and build the driver
for the Linux OS that you are using.

Using the WPS Wizard
WPS Wizard is a utility that allows you to easily set up your wireless network
using the following:
• PIN code of the WPS router or AP that you want to connect to.
Launching the WPS Wizard
To launch the WPS Wizard:
1. From the Windows®taskbar,
right-click the WLAN icon , then
select WPS.
2. The WPS Wizard appears. Select
the method that you want to use to
connect to the network.

Connecting via the WPS button
1. From the WPS Wizard, select Use the WPS button. Click Next.
2. Press the WPS button on the router.

3. The 802.11n network adapter searches for the wireless router. When done,
click Next and follow the succeeding onscreen instructions.
Connecting via the PIN code
1. From the WPS Wizard, select Use the PIN code. Click Next.
2. Select the router that you want to connect to. The router's status is displayed
as either Congured (with security settings) or Uncongured (without security
settings).
Note: If WPS conguration failed, move your computer closer to the router then try again.

3. Click Next. The router's PIN code is displayed.
4. If your selected router’s status is Congured, key in the PIN code in the web
user interface.
Note: If your selected router's status is Uncongured, proceed to the section Using the PIN
code on an uncongured router.
5. Wait until the WPS Wizard nishes applying the wireless settings.

6. WPS Wizard is completed. Click Finish to close the WPS Wizard.
Using the PIN code on an uncongured router
To use the PIN code on an uncongured router:
1. Follow steps 1-3 in Connecting via the PIN code.
2. If your selected router's status is Uncongured, the WPS Wizard screen below
appears. Key in the PIN code in this screen. Click Next.

4. Assign a name to your network. When done, click Next.
If the router is used for the rst time, the WPS Wizard assigns the SSID (network name)
automatically.
3. Wait until the WPS Wizard nishes applying the wireless settings.
5. Use the auto-generated passphrease as your network’s security key or
manually assign a passphrase containing between 8 and 63 characters. When
done, click Next.

To congure the advanced security settings, click Show advanced network
security options. Select the Security Method and manually key in your
Security key or passphrase.
6. WPS Wizard is completed. Click Finish to close the WPS Wizard.

Adding network devices using a USB ash drive
With the WPS Wizard utility, you can add devices to your network using a USB
ash drive.
To add network devices using a USB ash drive:
1. In the WPS Wizard, click Save settings to a USB ash drive.
2. Plug a USB ash drive into the USB port on your computer, and then select the
drive from the dropdown list. When done, click Next to continue.

3. Remove the USB ash drive from this computer, and then plug to the computer
that you want to add to the wireless network.
4. Locate the SetupWireless.exe from the USB drive, and double-click to run it.
Click Yes to add the computer to the wireless network.
5. Click OK to exit the Wireless Network Setup Wizard.
