About Handset Registration
• You must register this (and any other) handset with the base,
following the directions in“REGISTER THE HANDSET.” This handset is
compatible with telephone models 2430,2440,and 2455.
• The original handset that came with the base is automatically
registered as Handset 1.
• Additional handsets will be assigned Handset 2,Handset 3,and
Handset 4.
• Whenever you install a handset battery pack,the handset will display
SEARCHING FOR BASE (if it’s registered) or ENTER BASE ID (if it’s
not registered).
About Softkeys
• Press the softkey below the operation displayed on the screen to
select that operation.
• For example,to enter the menu,press the center softkey,as shown.

CHARGE THE BATTERY

1Install the handset battery pack.
•When you install the battery pack the first time,the handset will
display ENTER BASE ID.
2 Charge the handset battery.
•Place the handset in the base (or a remote charging stand,
purchased separately).
• Charge the battery at least 12 hours. After the first charge,the
battery will quick charge in only eight hours.

battery with the contacts
in the battery
compartment.
c) Replace cover
by sliding it on
its track up
over battery
case until it
snaps firmly
into place.

REGISTER THE HANDSET
1Make sure to charge the handset battery pack at least 12 hours.
2Use the softkey to select NEW.
3Enter the 15-digit Base Unit ID Code located on the underside of your
Model 2430,2440,or 2455 base.
4Use the softkey to select OK. The screen displays PLEASE WAIT!!.
5After about 15 seconds,the screen displays FOUND BASE. If the
handset displays BASE BUSY TRY LATER,the base is in use.

Belt Clip
Attach the belt clip (optional).
Headset
You can use this telephone hands-free when you install a 2.5 mm headset,
purchased separately.
Plug the headset into the jack located on the left side of the handset
(under the small rubber flap). Do not force the connection,but make sure
the plug fits securely.

grooves to attach. b) Push up and away to remove.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire or injury to persons or
damage to the telephone,read and follow these instructions
carefully:
• Use only Replacement Battery 2401,SKU# 91077.
• Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. The cell might explode.
Check with local codes for special disposal instructions.
• Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is
corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may be
toxic if swallowed.
• Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the
battery with conducting materials such as rings,bracelets,and
keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause harm.
• Charge the battery provided with or identified for use with this
product only in accordance with the instructions and limitations
specified in this manual.
• Observe proper polarity orientation between the battery and
battery charger.
Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries. Dispose of batteries in a safe manner.
Consult your local waste disposal company for disposal information. Do
not burn or puncture. Like other batteries of this type,if burned it could
explode and if punctured it could release corrosive material which could
injure the skin or eyes and which may be toxic.
