3.1 Cables and accessories

3.2 Cable connection chart
Please follow the connection chart accurately (detailed instructions below).
After the cables are all connected, you will be able to switch between the original BMW and the CarPlay
interfaces by long pressing the “MENU” button on the iDrive knob.
3.3 Power cable connection

1) Unplug the OEM original power cable from the head unit and reconnect it to the new cable
harness. Then plug the new cable into the head unit.
2) If your car has fiber optic cable, you will need to move the original fiber optic cable to the new
harness.
3.4 LVDS cable connection
1) The ORIGINAL LVDS cable goes from the HEAD UNIT to “LVDS IN” of the CarPlay box.

2) The NEW LVDS cable goes to THE SCREEN from the “LVDS OUT” of the CarPlay box.
Note: Connecting the LVDS cables incorrectly will result in a black screen!

3.5 WiFi antenna and USB-AV cable connection
Note: To avoid losing the WiFi signal, make sure the antenna is not placed close to metal objects.

4. CarPlay Decoder Sound Setup
4.1 Bluetooth settings
If your phone already has a bluetooth connection to your car, disconnect it.
4.2 Set AUX
Before using the CarPlay system, you need to set the sound input on your OEM interface to “AUX”,
otherwise the CarPlay /Android Auto system will have sound!
4.2.1. On the original BMW System, navigate to the “Multimedia“ menu and click “External devices”
4.2.2. Click on “AUX front” to activate it.
4.2.3. Leave the setting in the original BMW system on “AUX front”

4.2.4 Long press the “MENU” button from iDrive knob to enter into the CarPlay Decoder
main interface.

5. Reverse and Front Cameras
5.1 Original OEM camera
Enter the “Setup” menu from the decoder main menu, choose “Reverse”, then make sure the “Reverse
Camera” option is set to “Original”.
Make sure that the following three options are all set to “off”.

5.3 Settings for aftermarket reverse camera and front cameras
After the aftermarket camera cables are connected, you need to check the camera settings (click the
“Setup” button from the decoder main menu).
“Reverse” camera settings: choose “Reverse”, from the menu and set the reverse camera to
“Aftermarket”.
the options “Reverse line detect”, the “Reverse display track”, and the “Reverse display radar” should all
be set to “off”.
Front view camera settings: choose “Reverse”, from the menu and set the front view time between 1 to
15 seconds.

6. FAQ
1. Why is there no sound during the call?
Solution: Disconnect the Bluetooth between your phone and your car.
2. There is an Echo during a phone call
Solution: in the Audio setting, set the “Mic Echo PreConfig“ into “X3”, then restart the engine.
3. Which steering wheel control buttons work?
The CarPlay interface decoder box supports the Voice Control button, the Telephone button, and the
volume “+” and “-“ buttons. The other buttons are not supported.

If the steering wheel control buttons are not working, activate the option “Enable Wheel Key”, in the
“System” menu found in the “Settings” menu.
4. How do I activate Siri?
There are two ways to activate the Siri function:
1) Use the Voice Control button on the steering wheel or
2) Long press the confirm button on the iDrive controller
