Main components
1. Lifting columns
The columns are the main part of the lift they are fixed on the ground. They are made of bent sheet metal. The
base plate is at the lower part and the support plate is at the upper part welded.
2. Hydraulic aggregate
With this the hydraulic oil in the tank will be leaded over a gear pump, which is driven by the motor, to the
cylinder. Via a lowering valve the oil will be leaded back again into the tank. By means of the emergency lowering
switch a lowering of the lift is possible in case of a defect. The installed blow-off valve prevents an exceeding of
the capacity.
THIS ADJUSTMENT IS NOT ALLOWED TO BE CHANGED!!!!
P. 1) Main platform
The platform builds a bridging between both cross beams with whom they are screwed. It´s the part of the lift
where the vehicles drives on. Under this platform is the mechanism for the transmission of the power generated
by the hydraulic cylinder, as e.g. ropes, pulleys and so on.
2) Second platform
This platform is constructed analogue to the main platform P1, but does not include any hydraulic function parts.
On the cross beams this platform is not fixed at on one side and can be therefore adjusted according to the
wheelbase of the vehicle.
> ATH 4.35A & 4.55A are equipped additionally with sliding plates in the back and recesses for turn plates.
4. Cross Beam
The cross beams are parts of the lift, they are connecting the opposite columns.
The platforms are attached on the cross beams.
Safety devices
5. Control box equipped with deadman control.
Includes the complete electrical control system. All push buttons are protected by a front ring for preventing an
accidental pushing of the button, furthermore all movements will be interrupted immediately while releasing the
button.
6. Roll-Off protection
This safety device protects the car of rolling down, when lifted.
7. CE-Stop
This device stops the lift while lowering at a height of app. 500 mm.
8. Safety notches
This safety device prevents a lowering of the lift of more than 100 mm in case of any arbitrary defect. Pneumatic
cylinders are unlocking this device at every lowering.
9. Limit switch
Prevents an unnecessary pressure in the hydraulic system.
10. Synchronization ropes
Guarantees a secure synchronization of both carriages.

Installation of the lift
This manual is not to be seen as an assembly instruction, but only as a help and advice for skilled personal. For
the following works there are necessary the adequate clothes and safety equipments. An incorrect installation and
adjustments causes disclaimer of warranty.
1. Positioning and adjustment of the platforms with the cross beams
a. Place the crossbeams on suitable support frames or squared timber.
After that place and fix the platforms to the cross beams.
ATTENTION: The main platform P1 (with cylinder) has to be on the left side (in driving direction).
The guiding rails for the rolling jack must be faced inwards.

b. Install the synchronization ropes as shown in the following.
Take care that the ropes are guided as shown in the following picture in the pulley of the slack cable
security.

c. Lead the arrester rod (notched disc) through the cross beams.
d. Position now the columns at the end of the cross beams.
Lead the intake of the arrester rod through the intake on the cover plate and fix it by means of the
delivered fixing material (01). Following lead the ends of the lifting ropes through the cover plate and fix
them (02).
Finally fix the arrester rod at the bottom of the lifting columns.

2. Installation and connection of the hydraulic aggregate
a. Fix the hydraulic aggregate on the left front column
b. Make now the hydraulic connection to the cylinder by means of the hydraulic hose and oil leakage pipe.
You can find the hydraulic diagram in the appendix of this user´s manual
3. Pneumatic connection
Connect the electromagnetic pneumatic valve, which is in the front cross beam, to the compressed air supply.
With this valve the pneumatic cylinder for unlocking the safety notches will be controlled.
You can find the pneumatic diagram in the appendix of this user´s manual
4. Electrical connection
Herewith the general as well as the local regulations have to be observed. Therefore only skilled personal is
allowed to make this work.
Pay attention to the necessary supply lines (see technical data).
You can find the electric diagram in the appendix of this user´s manual
5. Hydraulic oil
Fill up the hydraulic oil until the mark on the dipstick
6. Adjusting work before fixing the lift
a. Check all screws, nuts and so on that they are tight
b. Check all connections and cylinders for leak and retighten if necessary
c. Pay attention to the rotating direction of the motor; while pushing the button LIFTING the fan must rotate
in the indicated direction. If necessary the direction of rotation must be changed.
For the following points all columns must be observed carefully during the whole process.
d. Push again the button UP, after a short time the cylinder fills and clamps the lifting ropes. Raise the lift
until the cross beams are appr. 50 mm over the support frames resp. squared-timber.
e. Check the diagonals (see D1/D2 in the dimensional drawing of the technical data). Following the columns
will be aligned to the cross beam by means of a water-level.
f. As a security there will be fixed on each column a safety anchor as described in point 7.
g. Now the support frames resp. squared-timber can be removed.
h. Lower the lift with the button „DOWN“ in the lowest position.
i. Check now again the position of the columns and fix the remaining safety anchors as described in the
next point.

7. Anchoring with the safety dowels:
a. Drill holes with the necessary drilling depth
A and diameter according to the
manufacturer specifications.
b. Clean the inside of the hole
c. Put an anchor bolt into the hole and
hammer it until it reaches the bottom of the
hole.
Tighten the nut according to
manufacturer’s specified torque.

8. Final works
a. Check the function of all buttons. Pay attention to that all notches will be released while pushing the
button „DOWN“.
b. Adjusting works:
Adjustment of synchronization:
Adjustment of notches (for wheel alignment):
Raise the lift to a height of appr. 600 mm
„LOCK“ the lift into the first notch.
Control the horizontal level (with a water-level) of the platforms.
By turning in respectively out of the fixing nut for the lifting
ropes (02) can be adjusted the synchronization/horizontal
level.
By turning in respectively out of the fixing nut for the
arrester rod (01) can be adjusted the
synchronization/horizontal level.
Raise then the lift completely and then lower it completely. Check the synchronization/horizontal level in the course of
this, if necessary it must be adjusted again.

For checking the synchronization you can hear to the click of the safety notches, the carriage who clicks later
must be retightened.
A re-adjustment of the synchronization ropes after a short operation can be necessary due to the material and is
not a warranty case but a maintenance work of the operator.
c. Lower the lift completely and push then the button „LOWERING“ appr. 15 sec.longer so that the hydraulic
system will be completely bleeded.
d. Install now the missing parts (e.g. drive-on ramps, roll-away protection, covers of columns and so on)
9. Lifting under load
a. Lift the load to appr. 1.0000 mm height
b. Lower then the load into the first notch.
c. Check the tension of the ropes, re-adjust if necessary.
d. Check the synchronization while further lifting and re-adjust if necessary.
e. Lower the load and install the still missing covers
10. After the installation fill in the enclosed checking book.
This information will be needed at a possible service case.
