Overview
System Description
The MicroTorque M screw fastening systems are servo driven microproces-
sor-controlled precision tools, based on cutting edge technology. Each tool con-
tains a servo motor, planetary gear, incremental encoder. The highly integrated
control unit MicroTorque was designed for servo control, angle measurement,
I/O-management via serial and PLC interface, and user dialog control as well as
parameter settings.
The most significant features of these assembly tools are:
• Simultaneous screw tightening and torque control.
• Freely programmable screw fastening parameters.
• Precise tightening torque, torque monitoring and measurement data docu-
mentation.
• Continuous data output for graphical display of torque vs. angle and torque
vs. time.
• No clutch for torque setting, therefore no mechanical adjustments.
• Facility for customer-specific assembly programs.
These features make the spindle particularly suitable for highly demanding as-
sembly work and guarantee exactly controlled tightening torque even under dif-
ficult conditions.
The standard screw fastening procedure passes the following steps:
•Search step (before touching the thread)
•Step 1 with angle limitation and torque window
•Step 2 with torque control and angle window
The 3 steps allow completely independent settings of rpm. Search step normally
runs at low rpm to find the thread easily. Step 1 can be run at high rpm for high
productivity and short cycle time. At Step 2 rpm is reduced to avoid exceeded
torque.

Installation
Chose a safe place for the installation of the system.
Install the system according to the following instructions.
Installation
1. A safe place should be chosen for the installation of system.
2. The tool driver must be connected to the controller with the tool cable.
3. The controller must be connected to the power supply and the power supply
to the mains (230V/50Hz or 115V/60Hz).
4. The system will initialise. All basic hardware functions are checked and dis-
played during initialisation. Also the tool serial number is displayed.
5. After initialisation passed correctly, the system is ready for use.

Maintenance
Preventing ESD problems
The components inside the tool and controller are sensitive to electrostatic dis-
charge. To avoid future malfunction, make sure that service and maintenance is
carried out in an ESD approved work environment. The figure below shows an
example of an appropriate service work station.
Maintenance
There are certain general maintenance procedures you should perform to keep
your MicroTorque system clean and operating at its efficiency.

The system is a sophisticated instrument with many sensitive components.
A built-in service reminder can be configured in Tools Talk MT. When it is
time to perform service on the tool, a reminder is shown on the controller dis-
play.
Preventive Maintenance:
• The system should never be exposed to harsh environment with rapid tem-
perature changes or excessive dust.
• Never expose the system to excessive vibration or high humidity.
• Prevent overheating by use only in the permitted temperature range. Do not
cover tool or controller or power supply.
• Cleaning of the tool and controller should be done regularly, but not with
aggressive cleanser.
• Check wear of the bit regularly.
• Replace worn cables immediately.
Tools which have been opened by anyone else than Atlas Copco Industrial
Technique AB, will not be serviced.
Calibration and preventive maintenance is recommended at regular intervals
once per year or after maximum 1.000.000 tightenings depending on which oc-
curs sooner.
More frequent overhaul may be needed if the machine is used in heavy-duty op-
erations.
If the machine is not working properly, it should immediately be taken away for
inspection.

Service instructions
The information in this chapter is intended to show the main steps to be taken
when servicing the tool. For detailed information on the included parts, see the
exploded views/tables.
General information
Recommended interval between actions:
(Valid at normal usage of the tool at a load up to 70% of maximum torque.)
• Exchange front part after approximately 1.000.000 cycles.
• Exchange drive unit after approximately 5.000.000 cycles.
• Calibrate the tool after 1.000.000 cycles or after 1 year.
Service conditions:
• The complete system needs to be available when a repair or calibration is to
be done.
Service equipment:
• Normal workshop equipment.
• Necessary special equipment as shown in the exploded views/tables.
• For testing a calibration rig is recommended.
• PC with internet connection to be able to download necessary keys.
Preventing ESD problems
The components inside the tool and controller are sensitive to electrostatic dis-

Disassembling
NOTICE The parts are mounted together using locking fluid. Depending on the
hardness of the locking fluid it is necessary to use different methods of disman-
tling it.
1. 1. Hold the tool steady by hand and put the service tool on the front part.
2. Unscrew the front part by turning the service tool counter-clockwise.
Attach a wrench to the service tool if needed.
2. If the front part does not come off using the method above:
1. Use a sharp thin knife to slit between the front part and rubber handle
in order to remove the locking fluid.
2. Try to loosen the front as described above.
3. If the front part does not come off using the method above:
1. Gently apply heat to the front part.
NOTICE! Be careful not to affect the rubber handle.
2. Hold the service tool with a vice and attach it to the front part.
3. Turn the tool counter-clockwise by hand.
Assembling
1. Clean the threads of the handle.
2. Apply a small amount of locking fluid to the threads of the new front part.
3. Attach the front part to the tool.
NOTICE Be careful when you connect the front part to the gear pin.
4. Hold the tool in your hand, attach the service tool and a torque wrench.
Tighten the front part to 8 Nm.
5. Let the glue harden.

Adjusting the start lever
1. Put the spindle on the work bench, supported by the assembly tool.
2. Connect the spindle to the trigger tester.
3. Connect the trigger tester to mains supply.
4. Loosen the set screw using an allen key, and tigthen it again until switch-
ing just occures.
5. Secure the screw with locking fluid.

Overview
Description du système
Les systèmes d'assemblage à vis MicroTorque M sont des outils de précision à
transducteur et servo-moteur qui sont commandés par des microprocesseurs et
basés sur une technologie de pointe. Chaque outil est doté d'un servo-moteur,
d'un engrenage planétaire et d'un encodeur incrémentiel. L'unité de commande
MicroTorque est une unité hautement intégrée, conçue pour la servocom-
mande, les mesures de l'angle, la gestion des E/S via une interface série ou API,
un contrôle de l'utilisateur au moyen de boîtes de dialogue et le réglages des pa-
ramètres.
Les fonctions les plus importantes de ces outils d'assemblage sont :
• Serrage des vis et contrôle du couple simultanés.
• Paramètres de fixation des vis facilement programmable.
• Couple de serrage précis, surveillance du couple et documentation des don-
nées concernant le serrage.
• Émission des données en continu pour l'affichage graphique du couple en fct
de l'angle et du couple en fct du temps.
• Aucun embrayage pour le réglage du couple et donc aucun réglage méca-
nique à faire.
• Fonction spéciale pour les programmes d'assemblages personnalisés.
Ces caractéristiques rendent la broche particulièrement adaptée aux travaux
d'assemblage très exigeants et garantissent un couple de serrage contrôlé avec
exactitude même dans des conditions difficiles.
La procédure de fixation des vis standard se déroule selon les étapes sui-
vantes :
•Étape de recherche (avant de toucher le filetage)
•Étape 1 avec limitation de l'angle et fenêtre du couple
•Étape 2 avec contrôle du couple et fenêtre de l'angle
Ces 3 étapes autorisent des réglages totalement indépendants de la vitesse de ro-
tation (tr/mn). L'étape de recherche se déroule à une vitesse peu élevée pour
trouver facilement le filetage. La vitesse à l'étape 1 est élevée pour une
meilleure productivité et un temps de cycle plus court. À l'étape 2, le nombre de
tours par minute est réduit pour éviter un dépassement du couple.

Installation
Installation
Il faut , tout d'abord, choisir un endroit sûr pour installer le système. Ceci fait, le
coffret de commande de l'outil doit être connecté au contrôleur au moyen du
câble d'outil. Le contrôleur doit être ensuite branché sur l'alimentation élec-
trique et celle-ci branchée à son tour sur le secteur (230V/50Hz ou 150V/60Hz).
Le système s'initialise alors. Toutes les fonctions de base de l'appareil sont véri-
fiées et s'affichent durant l'initialisation. Le numéro de série de l'outil s'affiche
également. Une fois l'initialisation correctement effectuée, le système est prêt à
l’emploi.

Entretien
Prévention des problèmes de DES
Les composants que contiennent l’outil et le contrôleur sont sensibles aux dé-
charges électrostatiques. Pour éviter tout mauvais fonctionnement futur, assu-
rez-vous que les opérations d’entretien et de maintenance se déroulent dans un
environnement de travail homologué DES. L’illustration ci-dessous présente un
exemple de poste de travail acceptable pour l’entretien.

Entretien
Vous devez effectuer certaines procédures générales de maintenance pour main-
tenir votre système MicroTorque en état de propreté et lui garantir un fonction-
nement efficace.
Ce système est un appareil sophistiqué doté de beaucoup de composants sen-
sibles.
Un rappel d'entretien intégré peut être configuré dans Tools Talk MT. Lorsqu'il
est temps de procéder à une révision de l'outil, un rappel apparaît sur l'afficheur
du contrôleur.
Maintenance préventive :
• Ne jamais placer le système dans un environnement difficile avec des varia-
tions de température rapides ou des taux de poussière trop importants.
• Ne jamais exposer le système à des vibrations excessives ou une trop grande
humidité.
• Éviter la surchauffe en utilisant uniquement l'appareil dans la plage de tem-
pératures autorisée. Ne pas couvrir l'outil, le contrôleur ou l'alimentation
électrique.
• Nettoyer régulièrement l'outil et le contrôleur sans utiliser de produit net-
toyant agressif.
• Vérifier régulièrement l'usure de l'embout.
• Remplacer immédiatement les cordons endommagés.
Les outils qui ont été ouverts par quiconque en dehors d'Atlas Copco Industrial
Technique AB ne seront pas réparés.
Il est recommandé de procéder à l'étalonnage et à la maintenance préventive à
intervalles réguliers, une fois par an ou après un maximum de 1000000 ser-
rages, selon ce qui advient en premier.
Une révision plus fréquente peut s'avérer nécessaire si la machine est utilisée en
service intensif.
Si la machine ne fonctionne pas correctement, elle doit être immédiatement reti-
rée pour vérification.

Levier de démarrage
Outillage nécessaire:
• Outil de montage 4080 1374 82
• Testeur de gâchette 40801381 80
• Clé Allen 0,9 mm

Réglage du levier de démarrage
1. Poser la broche sur l'établi, en appui sur l'outil de montage.
2. Raccorder la broche au testeur de gâchette.
3. Brancher le testeur de gâchette sur secteur.
4. Desserrer la vis de blocage à l'aide d'une clé Allen et la resserrer jusqu'au
moment exact où la commutation se produit.
5. Bloquer la vis avec du liquide de blocage.

Overview
Systembeschreibung
Bei den MicroTorque M Schraubsystemen handelt es sich um Präzisionswerk-
zeuge mit Servoantrieb und Mikroprozessorsteuerung. Sie entsprechen dem
neuesten Stand der Technik. Die Werkzeuge setzen sich aus einem Servomotor,
einem Planetengetriebe und einem inkrementellen Encoder zusammen. Die Mi-
croTorque Steuereinheit mit weitgehend integriertem Aufbau ist für Servo-
steuerung, die Winkelmessung, die E/A-Verwaltung über serielle bzw. SPS-
Schnittstelle sowie die Benutzereingabe für die Parametereinstellung ausgelegt.
Zu den wichtigsten Merkmalen dieser Montagewerkzeuge zählen:
• Schrauben und Drehmomentsteuerung in einem.
• Schraubparameter mit umfangreichen Programmiermöglichkeiten.
• Präzision bei Anzugsdrehmoment, Drehmoment- und Winkelkontrolle so-
wie bei der Datendokumentation.
• Fortwährende Datenausgabe für die grafische Darstellung von Drehmoment/
Winkel und Drehmoment/Zeit.
• Kupplungsfreie Drehmomenteinstellung – keine mechanische Justierung.
• Einfache Handhabung für kundenspezifische Montageprogramme.
Dank dieser Merkmale ist die Spindel bestens geeignet für besonders an-
spruchsvolle Montagearbeiten; sie gewährleistet selbst unter schwierigen Ein-
satzbedingungen Schraubvorgänge mit exakter Drehmomentkontrolle.
Der standardmäßige Schraubvorgang umfasst die folgenden Schritte:
•Suche (Ermittlung des Gewindes)
•Schritt 1 mit Winkelbegrenzung und Drehzahlfenster
•Schritt 2 mit Drehzahlkontrolle und Winkelfenster
Die drei Stufen ermöglichen eine völlig unabhängige Drehzahlregulierung. Die
Suche erfolgt im Normalfall bei niedriger Drehzahl, um die Ermittlung des Ge-
windes zu erleichtern. Stufe 1 kann für optimale Produktivität und möglichst
kurze Zykluszeiten bei hoher Drehzahl erfolgen. In Stufe 2 wird die Drehzahl
reduziert, um ein Überdrehen zu verhindern.

Montage
Montage
Die Montage des Systems ist an einem sicheren Ort vorzunehmen. Im An-
schluss daran mit dem Werkzeugkabel die Verbindung zwischen Werkzeugan-
trieb und Steuerung herstellen. Anschließend die Steuerung an die Stromversor-
gungseinheit anschließen und diese an die Netzsteckdose anstecken
(230V/50Hz oder 150V/60Hz). Das System fährt nun hoch. Während der Initia-
lisierung werden die grundlegenden Gerätefunktionen überprüft und angezeigt.
Auch die Seriennummer des Werkzeugs wird angezeigt. Nach fehlerfreiem Ab-
schluss der Initialisierung ist das System einsatzbereit.

Wartung
ESD-Probleme vermeiden
Die Bauteile im Inneren von Werkzeug und Steuerung reagieren empfindlich
auf elektrostatische Entladung (ESD).Um das Auftreten von Fehlfunktionen
auszuschließen, müssen Service und Wartung in einer ESD-sicheren Arbeit-
sumgebung vorgenommen werden. Die folgende Abbildung dient als Beispiel
für einen zulässigen Wartungsarbeitsplatz.
Wartung
Einige allgemeine Wartungsabläufe gestatten, das MicroTorque System sauber
zu halten und seine optimale Betriebsleistung zu bewahren.

Bei dem System handelt es sich um ein ausgefeiltes Instrument mit einer Viel-
zahl empfindlicher Bauteile.
In Tools Talk MT lässt sich eine integrierte Serviceerinnerung konfigurieren.
Wenn eine Werkzeugwartung vorgenommen werden muss, wird im Display der
Steuerung eine Erinnerung eingeblendet.
Vorbeugende Wartung:
• Das System darf keinen rauen Umgebungsbedingungen mit starken Tempe-
raturschwankungen oder übermäßigen Staubbelastungen ausgesetzt werden.
• Das System unter keinen Umständen starken Vibrationen oder hoher Feuch-
tigkeit aussetzen.
• Zur Vermeidung von Überhitzung ausschließlich innerhalb des zulässigen
Temperaturbereichs einsetzen. Das Werkzeug, die Steuerung oder die
Stromversorgung nicht abdecken.
• Werkzeug und Steuerung sind regelmäßig zu reinigen, jedoch mit keinen
aggressiven Reinigungsmitteln.
• Die Schrauberspitze regelmäßig auf Verschleiß kontrollieren.
• Verschlissene Kabel unverzüglich austauschen.
Werkzeuge, die von jemand anderem als Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB
geöffnet wurden, werden nicht gewartet.
Es wird empfohlen, regelmäßig – zumindest ein Mal jährlich oder alle 1Mio.
Verschraubungen (je nachdem, was früher eintritt) – eine Kalibrierung und vor-
beugende Wartung durchzuführen.
Im Falle von Hochleistungseinsätzen ist u. U. eine häufigere Überholung von-
nöten.
Falls die Maschine nicht einwandfrei funktioniert, ist sie unverzüglich außer
Betrieb zu nehmen und einer Inspektion zu unterziehen.

ESD-Probleme vermeiden

Starthebel
Erforderliche Werkzeuge:
• Montagewerkzeug 4080 1374 82
• Auslöser-Prüfgerät 40801381 80
• Innensechskantschlüssel, 0,9 mm

Starthebel einstellen
1. Die Spindel auf der Werkbank ablegen und mit dem Montagewerkzeug
stützen.
2. Die Spindel an das Auslöser-Prüfgerät anschließen.
3. Das Auslöser-Prüfgerät an die Netzstromversorgung anschließen.
4. Die Stellschraube mit einem Innensechskantschlüssel lösen und anschlie-
ßend wieder so weit festziehen, bis es zum Schalten kommt.
5. Die Schraube mit Schraubensicherungslack sichern.

Overview
Descripción del sistema
Los sistemas de apriete de tornillos MicroTorque M son herramientas de pre-
cisión controladas por microprocesador accionadas por servo, basadas en las
tecnologías más avanzadas. La herramienta integra servomotor, engranaje pla-
netario y un codificador incremental. La unidad de control altamente integrada
MicroTorque se ha diseñado para servocontrol, medición de ángulo, gestión de
E/S a través de la interfaz del PLC y del puerto de serie, control de cuadros de
diálogo de usuario y configuración de parámetros.
Las funciones más significativas de estas herramientas de montaje son:
• Control de par y apriete simultáneo de tornillos.
• Parámetros de apriete de tornillos de libre programación.
• Par de apriete preciso, verificación de par y documentación de los datos de
medición.
• Salida continua de datos para representación gráfica de par-ángulo y par-
tiempo.
• Ajuste de par sin embrague, por lo que no requiere ajustes mecánicos.
• Disponibilidad de programas de montaje específicos para cada cliente.
Estas funciones hacen que el eje sea especialmente adecuado para tareas de
montaje especialmente exigentes y garantiza un control preciso del par de aprie-
te incluso en las condiciones más difíciles.
El procedimiento estándar de apriete de tornillos se realiza en las etapas si-
guientes:

Las RPM se pueden se pueden configurar independientemente en las 3 etapas.
La etapa de búsqueda se suele realizar normalmente a unas RPM bajas, para en-
contrar la rosca sin problemas. La etapa 1 puede ejecutarse a unas RPM muy al-
tas para conseguir una alta productividad en tiempos de ciclo breves. En la eta-
pa 2 se reducen las RPM para evitar un apriete excesivo.

Elegir en primer lugar un lugar seguro para la instalación del sistema. A conti-
nuación, deberá conectarse el controlador de la herramienta al controlador con
el cable de la herramienta. El controlador se conectará a la fuente de alimenta-
ción y ésta a la red (230V/50Hz o 150V/60Hz). Tras ello, el sistema se iniciará.
Durante la inicialización del sistema se comprobarán y visualizarán todas las
funciones básicas del hardware. También se mostrará el número de serie de la
herramienta. Cuando la inicialización haya terminado correctamente, el sistema
estará listo para comenzar a utilizarlo.

Prevención de descargas electrostáticas
Prevención de problemas derivados por descargas electrostáticas Los compo-
nentes que hay en el interior de la herramienta y el controlador son sensibles a
descargas electrostáticas. Para evitar problemas futuros de funcionamiento, ase-
gúrese de que realiza todas las tareas de reparación y mantenimiento en un en-
torno de trabajo homologado contra descargas electrostáticas. A continuación se
