Howtosettherootpassword
ToaccesstheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongureRoot
Passworddialog,whichopenswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.
Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS
certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The
HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage40.
Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe

IfaPTZcamerahasbeenmountedtotheAXISQ6000-ESolovariant,makesuretodoafactorydefaultreset,otherwisethe

TocalibratethePTZcamera,dothefollowing:
1.InthePTZNetworkCameraCalibrationpage,selectachanneltocalibrate.
2.AddacalibrationpointintheselectedchannelthennavigatethePTZcameratondthesamepointinthePTZcameraview.
3.ClickSave.
4.Repeatsteps2-4untiltherearefourcalibrationpointsinthechannel.
Toimprovecalibrationaccuracy,makesurethe4calibrationpointsarespreadevenlyovertheimageandatleastone
calibrationpointisclosertothecenteroftheimage.Itisnotrecommendedtoaddpointsneartheedgesoftheimage.
5.Repeatthesameprocedureforallchannels.
6.SelectFinishCalibration.
Note
Ifyourepeatedlygetanerrormessageduringcalibration,lensandresolutionchangesmaybethecause.Youcanskipthe
affectedchannelandstillbeabletopointanddirectthePTZcamerainthecalibratedchannels.

ClickSnapshottosaveasnapshotofthevideoimage.Thisbuttonisprimarilyintendedforusewhen
theAXISediaControlviewertoolbarisnotavailable.EnablethisbuttonfromLiveViewCong>
ActionButtons.
Theproduct’sfaniscontrolledbytheambienttemperatureandisturnedonandoffautomatically.If
required,thefancanbeactivatedmanuallybyclickingtheFanbutton.Toshowthebutton,goto
Setup>LiveViewCong.UnderActionButtons,selectShowanbuttonandspecifythenumberof
minutesthefanshouldbeactivated.
Theproduct’sheateriscontrolledbytheambienttemperatureandisturnedonandoffautomatically.
Ifrequired,theheatercanbeactivatedmanuallybyclickingtheHeaterbutton.Toshowthebutton,
gotoSetup>LiveViewCong.UnderActionButtons,selectShowheaterbuttonandspecifythe

releasecontrolofthePTZcontrols.ThePTZControlQueueissetupunderPTZ>ControlQueue.
Tozoominataspecicpartofthevideostream,drawarectangleontheareaofinterestanyofthechannelsinquadview.The
connectedPTZcamerawillzoomintocoverthisarea.Tozoomout,drawalargerrectangle,thecamerawillzoomouttocover
thisarea.
TodirectthePTZcameratoaspecicpointofinterest,clickonapointanywhereinquadview.
Joystick
Toconnectajoystick,seetheUseranualforthejoystick.
TousethePTZfunctionsinthePTZNetworkCamerawithaconnectedjoystick,dothefollowing:

TheAxisproductprovidesseveralvideostreamformats.Yourrequirementsandthepropertiesofyournetworkwilldeterminethe
typeyouuse.
TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream
proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.
AboutH.264format
H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethanthePEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
Decidingwhichcombinationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourviewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesof
yournetwork.TheavailableoptionsinAXISediaControlare:
UnicastRTPThisunicastmethod(RTPoverUDP)isused
forliveunicastvideo,especiallywhenitis
importanttohaveanup-to-datevideostream,
evenifsomeframesaredropped.
RTPoverRTSPThisunicastmethod(RTPtunneledoverRTSP)
isusefulasitisrelativelysimpletocongure
rewallstoallowRTSPtrafc.
RTPoverRTSPoverHTTPThisunicastmethodcanbeusedtotraverse
rewalls.Firewallsarecommonlyconguredto
allowtheHTTPprotocol,thusallowingRTPto
betunneled.
Unicastingisusedforvideo-on-demand
transmissionsothatthereisnovideotrafc
onthenetworkuntilaclientconnectsand
requeststhestream.
Notethatthereareamaximumof10
simultaneousunicastconnections.
ulticastRTPThismethod(RTPoverUDP)shouldbeusedforlivemulticastvideo.Thevideostreamisalways
up-to-date,evenifsomeframesaredropped.
ulticastingprovidesthemostefcientusageofbandwidthwhentherearelargenumbersof
clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever,passanetworkrouterunlessthe
routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotpossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexample.
Notealsothatallmulticastviewerscountasoneunicastviewerinthemaximumtotalof10
simultaneousconnections.
AXISediaControlnegotiateswiththeAxisproducttodeterminethetransportprotocoltouse.Theorderofpriority,listedinthe
ACControlPanel,canbechangedandtheoptionsdisabled,tosuitspecicrequirements.
Note
H.264islicensedtechnology.TheAxisproductincludesoneH.264viewingclientlicense.Installingadditionalunlicensed
copiesoftheclientisprohibited.Topurchaseadditionallicenses,contactyourAxisreseller.
AboutMJPEGformat
ThisformatusesstandardJPEGstillimagesforthevideostream.Theseimagesarethendisplayedandupdatedataratesufcient
tocreateastreamthatshowsconstantlyupdatedmotion.
TheotionJPEGstreamusesconsiderableamountsofbandwidth,butprovidesexcellentimagequalityandaccesstoeveryimage
containedinthestream.TherecommendedmethodofaccessingotionJPEGlivevideofromtheAxisproductistousetheAXIS
ediaControlinInternetExplorerinWindows.

exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause
movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.
Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto
settingcanbeused.
YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare
toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata.

Shutter&Gain
Theshutterandgainsettingsaffecttheamountofmotionblurandnoiseintheimage.Toadapttodifferentlightingconditions,
availablestoragespaceandbandwidth,itisoftennecessarytoprioritizeeitherlowmotionblurorlownoise.TheAxisproductallows
differentprioritizationsinnormalandlowlight.
Shutterspeedisrelatedtotheamountoftimetheshutterisopenedandismeasuredinseconds(s).Aslowshutterspeedallows
morelighttoreachthesensorandcanhelpproduceabrighterimageinlowlight.Ontheotherhand,aslowshutterspeedcan
causemovingobjectstoappearblurry.
SetShutterto:
•Autotosettheshutterspeedautomatically.Ifrequired,useMaxshuttertolimittheshutterspeedtopreventtheframe
ratefrombeingreduced.
Forexample,toget30fps,setMaxshutterto1/30.
