Sicherheitshinweise
Laserschutzbestimmungen
Der Sender entspricht der Laserklasse 2
gemäß IEC 60825-1. Zum Betrieb sind daher
keine zusätzlichen Schutzmaßnahmen
erforderlich. Das Gerät ist so zu montieren, dass das
Laserwarnschild gut sichtbar ist.
Diese Geräte dürfen nicht in Anwendungen eingesetzt
werden, wo die Sicherheit von Personen von der
Gerätefunktion abhängt.
Mit dem CE-Zeichen bestätigen wir, dass unsere
Produkte den Anforderungen der aktuellen EMV-Richtlinie
entsprechen.
In unserem EMV-Labor, das von der DATech für
Prüfungen der elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit
akkreditiert ist, wurde der Nachweis erbracht, dass die
Balluff-Produkte die EMV-Anforderungen der
Fachgrundnormen erfüllen:
EN 61 000-6-4 (Emission) und
EN 61 000-6-2 (Störfestigkeit)
Applikation
Nur für Applikationen nach NFPA 79 (Maschinen mit einer
Versorgungsspannung von maximal 600 Volt).
Für den Anschluss des Gerätes ist ein R/C (CYJV2) Kabel
mit geeigneten Eigenschaften zu verwenden.
Funktionsprizip
Mit dem BOD 63M können Distanzen gemessen und über
die IO-Link-Schnittstelle ausgegeben werden. Zusätzlich
hat der Sensor noch einen einstellbaren Schaltausgang.
Der BOD 63M arbeitet nach dem Prinzip der Laser-
Lichtlaufzeit. Ein Lichtimpuls wird gesendet, am Objekt
reflektiert und wieder empfangen. Die Laufzeit dieses
Lichtimpulses wird gemessen und in ein digitales
Abstandssignal umgewandelt.

Die grüne LED zeigt die Betriebsbereitschaft des Sensors
an.
Die gelbe LED "OUT 1" zeigt den Zustand „aktiv“ des
Schaltausgangs 1 an.
Die gelbe LED "OUT 2" zeigt den Zustand „aktiv“ des
Schaltausgangs 2 an.
Die rote LED zeigt an, dass die Intensität des Signals für
einen sicheren Betrieb nicht ausreicht.
Mit den SET-Tasten werden die Schaltabstände des
Sensors unabhängig voneinander eingestellt.

Einstellung der Schaltabstände
1.Den Sensor montieren und ausrichten.
2.Ins Menü wechseln: beide Tasten gleichzeitig 3 s
drücken. Die grüne LED blinkt.
3.Das Objekt im Strahlengang positionieren.
4.Aktuelle Objektposition speichern:
Die Taste SET "Out 1" 2 s drücken. Während dieser
Zeit blinkt die Ausgangsfunktionsanzeige OUT1.
Achtung! Der Schaltausgang wird sofort aktiv!
5.Optional: Um die zweite Objektposition zu speichern,
das Objekt neu positionieren.
6.Aktuelle Objektposition speichern:
Die Taste SET "Out 2" 2 s drücken. Während dieser
Zeit blinkt die Ausgangsfunktionsanzeige OUT2.
Achtung! Der Schaltausgang wird sofort aktiv!
7.Das Menü verlassen: Beide Tasten 3 s gleichzeitig
drücken. Der Sensor ist betriebsbereit.
Auch ohne die Tasten zu betätigen, verlässt der Sensor
nach 2 min automatisch den Teach-In-Modus.
Digitales Signal
In Abhängigkeit von der Position des Objekts wird ein
digitales Signal ausgegeben.

Messgenauigkeit
Der Sensor erreicht seine volle Genauigkeit erst bei
Betriebstemperatur, d. h. einige Zeit nach dem
Einschalten. Die Dauer dieser Warmlaufphase hängt von
den Umgebungsbedingungen ab.

Safety Advisory
Laser Protection Regulations
The emitter corresponds to Laser Class 2
according to IEC 60825-1. This means that no
additional precautions need to be taken for
operation. The device should be installed so that the laser
warning label is easily visible.
These devices may not be used in applications where the
safety of persons depends on device function.
The CE Mark verifies that our products meet the
requirements of the current EMC Directive.
Testing in our EMC Laboratory, which is accredited by
DATech for Testing of Electromagnetic Compatibility, has
shown that these Balluff products satisfy the EMC
requirements of the following Generic Standards:
EN 61 000-6-4 (Emission) and
EN 61 000-6-2 (Noise Immunity)
Application
Only for NFPA 79 applications (machines with a supply
voltage of maximum 600 volts). Device shall be connected
only byusing any R/C (CYJV2) cord, having suitable ratings.
Principle of operation
The BOD 63M measures distances which are output over
the IO-Link interface. The sensor also has one adjustable
switching output.
The BOD 63M works according to the principle of time of
flight. A light pulse is sent out, reflected from the object
and received again. The time of flight of this light pulse is
measured and converted into a digital distance signal.

The green LED indicates the ready state of the sensor.
The yellow LED “OUT 1” indicates the „active“ state of
switching output 1.
The yellow LED “OUT 2” indicates the „active“ state of
switching output 2.
The red LED indicates that the intensity of the signal for
reliable operation is not sufficient.
The SET buttons are used to set the switching distances
of the sensor independently of each other.

Setting the switching distances
1.Install and align the sensor.
2.Open the menu: Hold down both buttons simultaneously
for 3 s. The green LED flashes.
3.Position the object in the beam path.
4.Store the current object position:
Press SET "Out 1" for 2 s. During this time the output
function indicator OUT1 flashes.
Note! This switching output is immediately active!
5.Optional: To store the second object position, reposition
the object.
6.Saving the current object position:
Press SET "Out 2" for 2 s. During this time the output
function indicator OUT2 flashes.
Note! This switching output is immediately active!
7.To exit the menu: Hold down both buttons
simultaneously for 3 s. The sensor is ready.
The sensor will also exit teach-in mode automatically
after 2 min. without pressing any buttons.

Measuring accuracy
The sensor does not attain its full accuracy until operating
temperature is reached, i.e. some time after power-on.
The duration of this warm-up phase depends on ambient
conditions.
