The air hose must not to be washed as
only filtered air passes through it. Keep the
outer surface of the air hose dust-free by
wiping it regularly.
Depending on the environmental condi-
tions, condensation may collect in the
hose. To prevent against bacterial growth
and to ensure effective therapeutic use,
this moisture must always be removed.
To remove moisture from the hose, pro-
ceed as follows:
•Remove the hose [9] from the atomizer
[10].
•Leave the hose plugged into the nebu-
lizer [7].
•Run the nebulizer until all the moisture
has been displaced by the flow of air.
•In the event of significant contamination,
replace the hose.
Disinfection
Follow the steps listed below carefully in
order to disinfect your atomizer and the ac-
cessories. It is necessary to disinfect the in-
dividual components after the last time they
are used - each day at the latest.
•First clean the atomizer and the accesso-
ries as described under “Cleaning”.
•You can disinfect the atomizer and any
accessories used, with the vinegar or
boiling water method.
Vinegar Method
For disinfection, using the vinegar method,
you will require a small amount of clear
vinegar and distilled water.
•Make up a vinegar solution consisting of
¼ clear vinegar and ¾ distilled water.
Ensure that there is sufficient solution to

16
fully immerse all parts, such as atomizer,
mouthpiece, nosepiece, adult mask and
child mask. The air hose [9] must not be
placed in the vinegar solution.
NOTE: Dismantle the atomizer by twist-
ing the upper section counter-clockwise
against the medicine container [12].
•Submerge the components in the vinegar
solution for 30 minutes.
•Remove the components and discard the
solution. Rinse the components with wa-
ter.
Boiling Water Method
•The atomizer should be taken apart and
placed together with the mouthpiece and
nosepiece in boiling hot water for at least
10 minutes. Avoid the parts coming into
contact with the hot base of the pot. The
face masks [14 and 15] and air hose [9]
must not be placed in hot water! The face
masks [14 and 15] must be disinfected
using the “Vinegar method”
Drying
•After disinfection carefully dry all compo-
nents using a soft cloth.
•Place the individual components on a
dry, clean and absorbent surface and al-
low to dry completely (for at least 4
hours).
•Once all components are fully dry, reas-
semble the atomizer [10] and place the
components in a dry, sealed container.
b) Nebulizer
•Clean the casing of the main unit daily by using a damp cloth, to which you can apply a
little detergent if necessary.
•Keep the unit dust-free.
8.2 Material Resistance
As with all plastic components, frequent use and cleaning of the atomizer and the accesso-
ries can lead to a certain amount of wear. Over time, this can alter the aerosol properties
and may eventually affect the efficiency of therapy. We therefore recommend that you re-
place the atomizer and the accessories at the latest once a year. In case of frequent use
earlier replacement might be necessary.
8.3 Storage and Caring for the Device
DANGER
•Always unplug this product immediately after use and make sure it is not accessible to
children.
•The unit and power cord must be protected and stored away from sources of heat. (e.g.
stoves, heating radiators).
WARNING
•The IH 20 Nebulizer must only be used with suitable Beurer atomizers and with the appro-
priate Beurer accessories. The use of other atomizers and accessories may damage the
device and can impair therapeutic efficiency.

17
NOTICE
•Protect the unit or the parts from strong impacts such as dropping the unit on the floor.
•Do not leave medication inside the atomizer when not in use.
•Store the device and accessories in a location protected against environmental influences,
i.e. in a safe and dry location. Do not expose the device and accessories to direct sunlight,
extreme hot or cold temperatures or humidity (e.g. in the bathroom). The device and ac-
cessories must be stored in the specified ambient conditions (see section 11 “Technical
Specifications” for details).
•Protect the unit against dust, dirt and moisture. This may damage the device.
The accessories can be safely stored in the accessories compartment [4].
Store the device in a dry place.
8.4 Disposal
NOTICE
•Dispose of the device, components and optional accessories according to applicable local
regulations. Unlawful disposal may cause environmental pollution.

9. Troubleshooting
Problem/Question Possible Cause/Remedy
1. Check if plug is properly fit into the power outlet.
Device doesn’t operate.
2. Check if the on/off switch [3] is in on position.
1. Too much or too little medicine or liquid in the atomizer.
Minimum: 0.5 ml, Maximum: 6 ml.
2. Check that the nozzles are not blocked
If necessary, clean the nozzle (e.g. by rinsing).
Use the atomizer again or replace if necessary.
3. The atomizer is not held in an upright position
4. The medicine solution is unsuitable for nebulizing (e.g. too
thick).
The medicine solution should be specified by a physician.
5. Check the hose for blockage or air leakage. Replace as
needed.
6. Check that the atomizer is properly assembled and not dam-
aged. If there is any damage, replace if necessary.
7. Check if filter is dirty; replace filter if necessary.
The atomizer produces
little or no aerosol
8. Make sure that the air hose and other components are properly
attached.
Output is too low Hose twisted, filter blocked, too much inhalation solution
Some inhalation solu-
tion remains in the at-
omizer.
This is normal and occurs for technical reasons. Stop inhalation if
the sound of the atomizer changes.
10. Frequently Asked Questions
Which medicines are
suitable for inhalation?
Consult your physician.
Essentially all medicines that are suitable and approved for
device-based inhalation can be inhaled.
Inhalation with the mask
takes longer
This is for technical reasons. Less medicine is inhaled per breath
through the mask holes than using the mouthpiece. The aerosol is
mixed with ambient air through the holes in the mask.
Why do I need to replace
the atomizer at regular in-
tervals?
There are two reasons for this:
1. To provide for a therapeutically effective particle spectrum, the
nozzle holes should not exceed a certain diameter. Due to the
thermal and mechanical stresses, the plastic is subjected to a
certain amount of wear. The nozzle attachment [11] is particularly
susceptible to this wear. This can also cause changes to the
droplet composition of the aerosol, which has a direct effect on
the effectiveness of the treatment.
2. It is also recommended that you replace the atomizer - at the lat-
est - once a year. In case of frequent use earlier replacement
might be necessary.
Does each person need
their own atomizer and
accessories?
This is absolutely necessary for hygienic reasons.
