JUMBO-FLEX THERMOMETER
Thank you for purchasing the BIOS Diagnostics™ Jumbo-Flex Thermometer. To correctly utilize
all the advantages of this product, please familiarize yourself with these operating instructions
before using the thermometer for the first time. Keep the instructions in a safe place for future
reference.

• Memory: The last reading is automatically displayed for 2 seconds when the unit is
switched ON.
• High Temperature Indication: Rapid beeps and a red backlight alert the patient that he/she
may have a temperature above 37.6°C/99.7°F.

HOW TO TAKE A TEMPERATURE
1. Select oral, underarm or rectal as your measurement site based on each individual.
Clean thermometer with soap and water prior to use.
2.Pushtheoperatingbuttonlocatedonthetopofthethermometer.Thethermometer
will beep and the display will read: as illustrated in Figure 1. This is a function
check indicating that the unit is working properly. Immediately after, “Last memory”
and the temperature will be displayed, then “LO°C" with the °C/°F flashing will
indicate that the thermometer is ready to use, as illustrated in Figure 2.
3. While taking a temperature, the °C/°F symbol flashes as long as the temperature
increases.
4.Thethermometerwillbeeptwice,indicatingthatthepeaktemperaturehas
been reached, right after the beep is heard the screen will light up green if the
temperature is below 37.6°C/99.7°F. If the temperature is 37.6°C/99.7°F and above,
rapid beeps will sound and the screen will light up red indicating a fever.
NOTE: The LCD will display “LO°C” if the measurement taken is below 32.0°C/89.6°F. It will
display“HI°C”ifthemeasurementisabove43.9°C/111.0°F.
5.Toprolongthelifeofthebattery,turnthethermometeroffaftereachusebypressingthe
operating button briefly, otherwise the unit will turn off automatically in approximately 3
minutes.
NOTE: For best results, wait 3 minutes between temperature measurements.
6.Toswitchthethermometerfrom°Cto°F.Pressandholdtheoperatingbuttonwhenthe
thermometer is turned off, once “LO°C” is displayed with the °C not flashing, press the
operating button again to toggle between °C and °F.
ORAL USE:
•Donotdrinkhotorcoldfluids,exercise,smokeorperformotheractivitiespriortoa
measurement that will raise or lower temperature readings when compared to your normal
averagetemperature.Themouthshouldremainclosedforupto5minutesbeforeattemptinga
reading.
•Placetheprobetipwellunderthetongueandwaituntilabeepisheard.Instructchildrennotto
bite down on the probe.
UNDERARM (AXILLARY) USE:
•Wipearmwithadrytowel.
•Placetheprobetipinthehollowofthearmpitandbringarmdownagainstthebodyandwait
until a beep is heard.
RECTAL USE:
•Commonlyusedforbabies,youngchildrenorwhenitisdifficulttotakeanoralorunderarm
temperature.
•Lubricatethethermometerwithawater-solublepersonallubricantorpetroleumjelly.
•Gentlyinserttheprobetipnomorethan0.5inchor1.3cmintotherectum,andwaituntilabeep
is heard.
Do not force the tip into the rectum if resistance is encountered.
MEMORY RECALL:
This thermometer has a memory which allows recalling of the last temperature. To obtain this
information, with the thermometer off, press the operating button. The screen displays then
the last measurement which will be deleted after the next temperature is taken.
CLEANING AND DISENFECTING:
Before and after each use, clean the thermometer with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
Disinfect using a cotton ball moistened with alcohol. Never immerse in hot water or in harsh
cleaning solutions.
CHANGING THE BATTERY:
When the appears on the display during a measurement, the battery is exhausted and needs
replacing. Remove the battery compartment located on the back of the thermometer, use a coin
orflatheadscrewdrivertoopen.Discardtheoldbatteryandinsertanewequivalentbattery
(CR2032, 3V). Ensure the battery is correctly positioned with the “+” facing up or towards the
back of the unit. Replace battery compartment lid.

LA PRISE DE TEMPÉRATURE :
1. Choisir la mesure buccale, axillaire ou rectale, selon l’individu ou le site de mesure désiré.
Avant d’utiliser votre thermomètre, le nettoyer avec de l’eau et du savon.
2.Appuyezsurlatouchedefonctionnementsituéesurlatêteduthermomètre.Le
thermomètreémettraunbipetl'afficheurlira:delafaçonindiquéedanslaFigure
1.C'estunefonctiondevérificationpours'assurerquelethermomètrefonctionne
correctement. Immédiatement après, la "dernière mémoire" et la température
s'afficheront,puis"LOºC"avec°C/°Fclignotantindiquerontquelethermomètreest
prêtàl'utilisation,delafaçonindiquéedanslaFigure2.
3.Pendantlaprisedemesure,lesymbole°C/°Fclignoteaussilongtempsquela
température augmente.
4.Lethermomètreémettradeuxbipssignifiantquelatempératuredepointeest
atteinte. Immédiatement après l’avertissement sonore, l’afficheur sera rétroéclairé en vert si
la température se situe en dessous de 37,6 °C/ 99,7 °F. Si la température s’élève au-dessus de
37,6 °C/ 99,7 °F, des bips rapides seront émis et l’afficheur sera rétroéclairé en rouge signifiant
quelepatientadelafièvre.
NOTE : L’écran affichera "LO°C" si la mesure prise est en dessous de 32 °C/ 89,6 °F. Il affichera
"HI°C"silamesureestau-dessusde43,9°C/111,0°F.
5.Pourprolongerl’autonomiedelapile,fermerlethermomètreaprèschaqueutilisationen
appuyantrapidementsurlatouchedefonctionnement;sinonl’instrumentsefermera
automatiquementaprèsenviron3minutes.
NOTE : Pourdesmesuresprécises,attendre3minutesentrechaqueprisedemesure
6.Pourpasserde°Cà°F,lorsquelethermomètreestfermé,appuyerettenirlatouchede
fonctionnement. Dès l’affichage de "LO°C" sans le clignotement de °C, appuyer de nouveau sur
la touche de fonctionnement pour basculer entre °C et °F.

•Nepasprendredeboissonchaudeoufroide,fairedel'exercice,fumerouentreprendre
d'autres activités avant la prise de température car cela donnerait des résultats supérieurs
 ouinférieurss’ilsétaientcomparésàvotretempératurenormalemoyenne.Garderlabouche
 ferméependantcinqminutesavantdeprendrelamesure.
•Placerlasondesouslalangueetattendrel’avertissementsonore(bip).Aviserlesenfantsdene
pas mordre la sonde.
MÉTHODE AXILLAIRE (AISSELLE) :
•Essuyerl'aisselleavecuneserviettesèche.
•Placerlasondedanslecreuxdel'aisselleetramenerlebraslelongducorps;attendre
l’avertissement sonore (bip).
MÉTHODE RECTALE :
•Cetteméthodeestutiliséecourammentchezlesbébés,lesjeunesenfantsetlorsqu'ilest
difficile d'obtenir une lecture buccale ou axillaire.
•Lubrifierlethermomètreàl'aided'unlubrifiantpersonnelhydrosolubleoudelavaseline.
•Insérerdélicatementlapointedelasondedanslerectum,sansdépasser1/2pouceou1,3cm
et attendre l’avertissement sonore (bip).
En cas de résistance, ne pas forcer la sonde dans le rectum.
RAPPEL DES MESURES EN MÉMOIRE :
Cethermomètreestdotéd’unemémoirequipermetderappelerladernièremesurede
température.Pourobtenircetteinformationlorsquelethermomètreestfermé,appuyersurla
touche de fonctionnement. L’écran affichera puisladernièremesures’effaceradèsqu’une
nouvelle mesure sera prise.
NETTOYAGE ET DÉSINFECTION :
Avantetaprèschaqueusage,nettoyerlethermomètreavecdel’eautièdesavonneuseetun
chiffondoux.Désinfecteravecuntampond’ouatehumidifiéd’alcool.Nejamaisplongerle
thermomètre dans l’eau chaude ou dans une solution nettoyante abrasive.
REMPLACEMENT DE LA PILE :
Lorsquelesymbole« »apparaîtsurl’afficheur,lapileestmorteetdoitêtreremplacée.
Retirer le couvercle du compartiment de la pile situé derrière le thermomètre au moyen d’une
piècedemonnaieoud’untournevisàtêteplate.Jeterlapileuséeetinsérerunenouvellepile
(CR2032,3V).Veillezàpositionnercorrectementlapile,lesigne«+»surledessusouvers
l’arrière du thermomètre. Remettre le couvercle du compartiment de la pile.
