Forehead Thermometer
Thank you for purchasing the BIOS Diagnostics™ Forehead Thermometer.
The BIOS Diagnostics™ Forehead Thermometer is a high quality product
incorporating the latest technology and tested in accordance with international
standards.
With its unique Fever Glow technology, this thermometer can provide safe,
accurate and reliable readings with each measurement on people over 2 years
of age.
Features:
• 3 Second Measurement
•Auto-Display Memory: The last reading is automatically displayed for
2 seconds when the unit is switched ON.
• Multiple Reading Recalls: Users will be able to recall the last 12
readings when entering the recall mode, enabling efficient tracking of
temperature variations.
• High Temperature Indication: 10 short beeps and a RED LCD
backlight alert the patient that he/she may have a temperature above
37.4°C/99.3°F.
• °C/°F switchable
Please read these instructions carefully before using this thermometer and keep
both in a safe place.

1. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
A basic physiologic effect called vasoconstriction can occur in the early stages
of fever, resulting in a “cool skin effect”, which shows the recorded temperature
using a forehead thermometer may be suspiciously low.
If the measurement result is not consistent with the patient’s finding or
suspiciously low, repeat the measurement every 15 minutes or double check
the result by another core temperature measurement, e.g. use an IR eardrum
thermometer or a rectal pen-type thermometer.
• Never use the thermometer for purposes other than those for which it
is intended. Please follow the general safety precautions when using
on children.
• Never immerse the BIOS Diagnostics™ Forehead Thermometer into
water or other liquids (not waterproof). For cleaning and disinfecting
please follow the instructions in the ‘Care and Cleaning’ section.
• Keep the thermometer away from direct exposure to the sun and keep it
in a dust-free, dry area between -20°C to 50°C (-4°F to 122°F).
• Do not use the thermometer if there are any signs of damage on the
measuring tip or the instrument itself. If damaged, do not attempt to
repair the instrument.
• This BIOS Diagnostics™ Forehead Thermometer consists of high quality
precision parts. Do not drop this instrument. Protect it from severe
impact and shock.
WARNING
• Use of this BIOS Diagnostics™ Forehead Thermometer is not intended
as a substitute for consultation with your physician.

3. HOW THIS THERMOMETER MEASURES TEMPERATURE
The thermometer measures infrared energy radiated from the skin above the
eyebrow area and the surrounding tissue. This energy is collected through the
lens and converted to a temperature value.
Temperature readings obtained by scanning above the eyebrow area will provide
the greatest accuracy.

• It is not recommended to use infrared thermometers on children under 2
years of age.
• Infrared thermometers should not be used to manage important health
concerns, and therefore, parents should not rely solely on temperature
readings to evaluate the status of your child’s health. If you have any
concerns, consult with your doctor.

4. DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1. Press the ON/OFF button. The display is activated to show all
segments for 2 seconds.
2. The last measurement reading will be shown on the display
automatically for seconds with the << M>> icon.
3. When the << °C >> or << °F >> icon is flashing, a beep sound is heard
and the thermometer is ready for measurement.
4. Place the probe gently onto the area approximately 1 cm above the
center of the eyebrow. If the eyebrow area is covered with hair, sweat
or dirt, please remove the obstacle(s) beforehand to improve the reading
accuracy.
5. Press the START button once and release it. Start to move the
instrument steadily from 1 cm above the center of the eyebrow to the
temple area. A long beep sound or 10 short beeps will emit after 3
seconds to acknowledge the completion of the measurement, if the
probe movement is too slow to reach the temple area before the long
beep sound is heard, repeat the measurement as above from step 4, but
simply move the probe a little quicker this time.
6. Read the recorded temperature from the LCD display.

NOTE:
• Before measurements, remain in a stable environment and avoid
exercise and bathing for 30 minutes prior.
• Thermometer should stay in steady-state room condition for at least 30
minutes.
• Do not take a measurement while or immediately after nursing a baby.
• Do not use the forehead thermometer in high humidity environments.
• Patients should not drink, eat or exercise before/while taking the
measurement.
• Before placing the thermometer probe onto the measurement area,
remove dirt, hair or sweat.
• Do not move the measurement device from the measuring area before
hearing the termination beep.
• Use an alcohol swab to carefully clean the probe and wait for 15
minutes before taking a measurement on another patient.
• 10 short beeps will sound and a red LCD backlight will illuminate when
the temperature is greater than 37.4°C/99.3°F in order to alert the
patient that he/she may have a temperature above 37.4°C/99.3°F.
• Always take the temperature in the same location, since the
temperature readings may vary from different locations.
5. FEVER ALARM
If the thermometer detects a body temperature greater than 37.4°C/99.3°F, it
will make 10 short beeping sounds and the LCD will light up RED, indicating a
potential fever.

This thermometer can display temperature measurements in either Celsius or
Fahrenheit. To switch the display between °C and °F, simply turn OFF the unit,
press and hold the START button for 5 seconds. When you stop pressing the
START button after 5 seconds, the current measurement scale (<< °C >> or
<< °F >> icon) will flash on the display . Toggle the
7
