These installation instructions are only valid for vehicles with board monitor 4:3 and navigation
computer Mark III.
Technical and electrical knowledge required
The installation time is approx. 0.5 hours but this may vary depending on the condition of the
vehicle and the installed equipment in it.

1. Important information for installing the wide screen monitor
Only for use in the BMW dealer organisation.
The wide screen monitor may only be installed by a specialist workshop that has the required
special tools and manuals (servicing, repair, diagnostics, etc.).
These installation instructions are only valid for vehicle with board monitor 4:3 and
navigation computer Mark III.!
Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the vehicle.
Item numbers refer only to the overview drawings and to the texts next to the appropriate figure.
All work is shown on a LHD vehicle.
Proceed in exactly the same way on RHD vehicles.
Electrical knowledge is required.

3. To install the wide screen monitor
(vehicles with factory-fitted 4:3 board monitor)

0Carefully remove the reinforcements (10) shaded
grey on the board monitor module holder (11) on
the left using an oscillating saw.
0Carefully remove the reinforcements (10) shaded
grey on the board monitor module holder (11) on
the right using an oscillating saw.
After removing the reinforcements, the cuts are to
be deburred carefully with a flat file.
0Unscrew the two Philips screws (10).
Insert the left wide screen monitor bracket (3) and
the right wide screen monitor bracket (4), into the
board monitor module holder (11) as shown in the
figure.
0Secure the left wide screen monitor bracket (3) and
the right wide screen monitor bracket (4) to the
board monitor module holder (12) using the Philips
screws (10) and the securing screws (11) from the
4:3 board monitor you removed earlier.

3. To install the wide screen monitor (vehicles with factory-fitted 4:3 board monitor)

0Connect the blue 12-pin connector (10) and the
white 12-pin connector (11) to the 16:9 wide
screen monitor (1).
Then carefully slide the 16:9 wide screen monitor
(1) into the board monitor module bracket (12).
0Secure the 16:9 wide screen monitor (1) to the left
wide screen monitor bracket (3) and the right wide
screen monitor bracket (4) with four fillister head
screws M3x8 (5).
When you fit the wide screen monitor trim
check the positions of the interlocks.!
Place the wide screen monitor trim (2) on the
16:9 wide screen monitor (1).

spacer plate (11).
0Carefully remove the reinforcements (10) shaded
grey on the radio module holder (11) on the right
using an oscillating saw.
0Carefully remove the reinforcements (10) shaded
grey on the radio module holder (11) on the left
using an oscillating saw.
After removing the reinforcements, the cuts are to
be deburred carefully with a flat file.
0Unscrew the two Philips screws (10).
Insert the left wide screen monitor bracket (3) and
the right wide screen monitor bracket (4), into the
radio module bracket (11) as shown in the figure.

4. To install the wide screen monitor (vehicles with retrofitted 4:3 board monitor)

0Secure the left wide screen monitor bracket (3) and
the right wide screen monitor bracket (4) to the
radio module holder (11) using the Philips screws
(10) and the securing screws (11) from the 4:3
board monitor you removed earlier.
0Connect the blue 12-pin connector (10) and the
white 12-pin connector (11) to the 16:9 wide
screen monitor (1).
Then carefully slide the 16:9 wide screen monitor
(1) into the radio module bracket (12).
0Secure the 16:9 wide screen monitor (1) to the left
wide screen monitor bracket (3) and the right wide
screen monitor bracket (4) with four fillister head
screws M3x8 (5).
When you fit the wide screen monitor trim
check the positions of the interlocks.!
Place the wide screen monitor trim (2) on the
16:9 wide screen monitor (1).

Finish work
Connect battery
Conduct a function test
Reassemble the vehicle by following the instructions for its disassembly in reverse order
Print out error memory
