PRELIMINARY WORK
1–Removing the front panorama glass roof panel
Pyrotechnic components.
• All work on pyrotechnic parts may be carried out by technically experienced and appropriately trained personnel
only.
• Replace any damaged part or ones that have been dropped.
• For additional information see: 72 00 Safety regulations on handling components with gas generators.
Electrostatic discharge.
• Leave electrical components in original packaging until just before they are installed. Use the original packaging
only for any return shipments. Always package removed components straight away.
• Read and comply with user information on using the associated special tool 12 7 060.
• Only touch the housings of electrical components. Do not touch pins or multi-pin connectors directly.
• Wear electrically conductive clothing and antistatic shoes (with ESD symbol).

• Slightly open the front panoramic glass sunroof-cover (1)as shown.

RISK OF DAMAGE
Any screws or foreign objects remaining at the installation
location or in the component may damage the panorama
glass roof.
• Release the screws (1)on the left and right.
• Remove the panoramic glass sunroof cover (2).
• Place the panoramic glass sunroof cover (2)in such a way that the
circular seals are not damaged.
Damage to the panorama glass roof or the mechanics
of the panorama glass roof.
• Ensure that no screws or other foreign objects are left
behind.
RISK OF DAMAGE
Any screws or foreign objects remaining at the installation
location or in the component may damage the panorama
glass roof.
• Fold the screen (1)slightly downwards.
• Loosen screws (2).
Damage to the panorama glass roof or the mechanics
of the panorama glass roof.
• Ensure that no screws or other foreign objects are left
behind.
• Lift the front panoramic glass sunroof cover (A).
• Feed out the rear panoramic glass sunroof cover (B)with the water
channel from the roof.
• Position the panoramic glass sunroof cover in such a way that the
circular seals are not damaged.
• Have the set of special tools 0 493 752 (00 9 329) ready.

NOTICE

• Remove the covers (1)with a suitable tool in the direction of arrow.
• Have the set of special tools 0 493 752 (00 9 329) ready.
• Detach sun visor from counter support (1).

5–Remove both microphone

NOTICE
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
▶Remove hands-free microphone
• Unclip the cover (2)with a suitable tool.
• Press clamp (3)together and remove the sun visor.
• Unlock associated plug connection and disconnect.
• Unclip the cover (1)with a suitable tool.
•Releasescrew(2)and pull the counter support (3)out of the
headlining.
• Unscrew retaining lugs (1)with the special tool 0 493 687 (00 9 340)
.
• Unlock plug connection and disconnect.
• Remove hands-free microphone (2).

NOTICE

• Lever out the front vanity mirror light (1)by using a special tool
0 496 569 (00 9 325) from the headlining (2).
• Unlock and disconnect connector (1).
• Remove the front vanity mirror light (2).

▶Remove the A-pillar trim panel
Additional information is available.
WARNING
Danger! Life-threatening injuries!
• Carefully unclip and remove the trim (1)using special tool
0 496 569 (00 9 325) at the marks.
• Unlock clamps on the left and right using a screwdriver in the
direction of the arrow.
• Release the rear latch mechanisms (1).
• Remove the roof function centre (FZD) (2)from the headlining (3).
• Unlock all plug connections and disconnect.
Pyrotechnic components.
• All work on pyrotechnic parts may be carried out by technically experienced and appropriately trained personnel
only.
• Replace any damaged part or ones that have been dropped.

NOTICE

▶Partially remove B-pillar trim panel
Damage to the head airbag.
• Do not use sharp-edged tools when removing the trim panel.
• Have the set of special tools 0 493 752 (00 9 329) ready.
• Unclip the cover (1)with suitable tools.
• Loosen screw (2).
• Unclip A-pillar trim panel (3)with clips (4)and guide it out upwards.
• Unclip clips (3).
• Feed B-pillar trim panel (1)out of the front and rear lip of edge
protections and the guides (2).

10–Remove interior roof light
• Have the set of special tools 0 493 752 (00 9 329) ready.
• Lever interior roof light (1)out of clamps (2)using a suitable tool.
• Unlock plug connection and disconnect.

▶Remove the D-pillar trim panel
• Guide out the C-pillar trim panel (1)under the lip of edge protection.
• Release the C-pillar trim panel (1)in the lower area from the latch
mechanisms (2).
• Unclip clip (3).
• Guide the C-pillar trim panel (1)in the direction of the arrow out of
the guides (2)and (3)and remove.

The description is for one component only. The procedure is identical for all further components.
▶Removing coat hook
• Unclip the cover (1).
• Loosen screw (2).
• Unclip clip (2).
• Feed out the D-pillar trim panel (1)from the guides (3)to the front.
• Turn coat hook, pull slightly inwards and hold, thereby release the
clips (2)with a suitable screwdriver.

15–Lowering headlining (equipment specification with panoramic glass sunroof)
Prerequisite
The front seats have been fully adjusted towards the bottom
.
The front seat backrests have been fully adjusted towards the rear
.
The rear seat backrest is folded down toward the front
.
• Remove coat hook (1).
• Loosen the 3rd brake light (1)with the latch mechanism (2)and the
clips (3)and remove downwards.

RISK OF DAMAGE
If the headlining is folded, it may have to be replaced.
Fold the headlining.
• Carry out tasks with a second person to assist.
• Support the headlining at the front and back.
• Have the set of special tools 0 493 752 (00 9 329) ready.
• Guide out the aerial lines (1)from the holders (2)at the headlining
in the rear.
• Unclip the headlining (1)with the clips (2)downwards.
• Carefully release headlining with a suitable tool from the clamps (1)
in a downwards direction.

• Carefully release headlining with a suitable tool from the clamps (1)

MAIN WORK

• Unlock and disconnect the plug connections (1)of the drives.
• Unclip wiring harness (2).
• Remove the water drain hoses (arrows).
RISK OF DAMAGE
Heavy components can lead to injury or damage.
• Secure panorama glass roof from falling with the help of an auxiliary
person.
• Release all the screws along the line (1).
Heavy component.
• Remove and install heavy components with the aid of
another person/other persons.
• With the help of an auxiliary person, feed out the panoramic glass
sunroof (1)as shown through the roof aperture in the direction of
arrow from the vehicle and store it.
• In order to prevent groaning noises, all bolts (1)must be secured
with the plastic washers (2)prior to installation.

• Feed in the panoramic glass sunroof (1)as shown with the help of
an auxiliary person through the roof aperture into the vehicle.
• Make sure that the panoramic glass sunroof seal is not damaged
while threading it in, if necessary, protect critical areas with
adhesive tape.
RISK OF DAMAGE
Heavy components can lead to injury or damage.
• Position the panoramic glass sunroof in the vehicle with an auxiliary
person.
• Screw in all the screws along the line (1)for a few rotations.
Heavy component.
• Remove and install heavy components with the aid of
another person/other persons.
• Insert the special tool 2 354 941
and align the panoramic glass
sunroof (1)with the roof.

• Tighten all the screws along the line (1), while doing so, begin with
the side screws at the aluminium rails.

• Clip the wiring harness (2)in.
• Connect the water drain hoses (arrows).

POSTPROCESSES
18–Installing (retracted) headlining (in version with panorama glass roof)
Prerequisite
The front seats have been fully adjusted towards the bottom
.
The front seat backrests have been fully adjusted towards the rear
.
The rear seat backrest is folded down toward the front
.
RISK OF DAMAGE
If the headlining is folded, it may have to be replaced.
Fold the headlining.
• Carry out tasks with a second person to assist.
• Support the headlining at the front and back.
• Check the clips (1)on the headlining (2)for damage and renew if
necessary.
• Check the clips (arrows) on headlining (2)for damage, and renew if
necessary.
NOTICE

• With the assistance of a second person, correctly position
headlining (1)in the vehicle.
• With help of another person, guide in headlining (1)under each
edge protection lip.
• Clip in the headlining (2)with the clips (1).
