Intended Use:
The lifting tackle serves for lifting of engine and
gearbox units in connection with the workshop
crane VAS 6100.
Terms of Use:
Only for qualified workshop personnel.
Only use the load holding device for work approved
by the Volkswagen Group.
Use only for loads up to according to the “load
cases” table.
The lifting tackle 3448 may only be used in
connection with a suitable workshop crane (e.g. VAS
6100) and only with accessories approved by the
Volkswagen Group.
Do not hold or lift any persons or animals.
Do not hold or lift articles other than described in
the workshop manuals of the Volkswagen Group
brands.
Do not stand under suspended loads.
Only use on level, horizontal and weight-bearing
ground.
Only use in connection with the approved
accessories (see workshop manuals of the
Volkswagen Group brands).
Do not work on suspended loads.

2 General Safety Instructions
WARNING
Read and follow all safety notes and instructions!
Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in
serious injuries and material damages.
Observe and follow the safety notes below.
The load holding device has been specifically
constructed for its intended use. The safety of the
load holding device can no longer be ensured if it is
misused or modified in ways not expressly approved
by the manufacturer. Serious injuries or damage to
property can occur.
Ensure that each person using the load holding
device is familiar with these instructions and can
access them at all times.
Ensure that all users are also familiar with the
operating manuals of all tools and workshop
equipment, which are necessary for the work.
Carefully read and adhere to the instructions in the
technical safety information of the Volkswagen
Group brands.
Wear safety shoes (according to ISO 20345, S2).
Wear protective gloves in order to avoid cuts.
Position hands and feet carefully to avoid potential
crushing hazards.
Use the load holding device only for work approved
by the Volkswagen Group.
Use the load holding device only with the
accessories approved by the Volkswagen Group.
Do not exceed the maximum load capacity according
to the “load cases” table.
The lifting tackle 3448 may only be used in
connection with a suitable workshop crane (e.g.
VAS 6100) and if necessary further approved tools
in accordance with the workshop manuals of the
Volkswagen Group brands.
The securing device of the load hooks must be
closed completely after striking.
Ensure that the track for the workshop crane (e.g.
VAS 6100) is clear and easily visible.
Move the load slowly and carefully.
Observe the lifting tackle and the load during all
movements.
The positioning of persons under the load and in the
dangerous area is prohibited during the movement
process.
Do not work on suspended loads.

3 Operating Instructions
1. Check the lifting tackle for completeness, and
visible damages such as signs of wear,
deformation, breakages, cracks, tears and
corrosion damages prior to each use. Do no use the
lifting equipment when defects are noted and
discard it immediately.
2. Check the interior hexagon screw of the end stop
of the base support for proper function.
3. Check the securing device (splint) of the shackle
bolt.
4. Carry out the necessary preparation work for the
use of the lifting tackle in accordance with the
workshop manuals.
5. Observe the alignment of the support for the load
hook.
6. Attach the lifting tackle 3448 to the workshop
crane (e.g. VAS 6100) as described in the
workshop manuals.
WARNING
Risk through falling load!
Incorrect attachment of the lifting tackle may result in
a tilting or falling load. This could result in serious
injuries and severe damage to materials.
Fasten the lifting tackle to the workshop crane
exactly as described in the workshop manuals.
Check the shackle bolt securing (splint).
Close the load hook securing completely.
Check the secure seat of the lifting tackle 3448 prior
to lifting the load.
7. Ensure a secure stand or hold of the load when
setting down.
8. Carry out further work as described in the
workshop manuals.
9. Ensure that all parts of the special tool have been
removed after completing the repair work.
4 Inspection and maintenance
Check the lifting tackle for completeness, and visible
damages such as signs of wear, deformation,
breakages, cracks, tears and corrosion damages
prior to each use. Do no use the lifting equipment
when defects are noted and discard it immediately.
Spare parts are available on request. Only use
original replacement parts.
Please contact your 1st level support representative
with any queries.
NOTICE
Modifications to this product which have not been
expressly approved by the manufacturer will void any
warranty. The manufacturer assumes no liability for
personal injuries or damages to materials which occur
as the result of improper use of this product.

Das Lastaufnahmemittel wurde speziell für seinen
Einsatzzweck konstruiert. Wenn Sie das
Lastaufnahmemittel zweckentfremden oder
unerlaubte Veränderungen am Lastaufnahmemittel
vornehmen, ist die Sicherheit nicht mehr
gewährleistet. Es kann zu schweren Verletzungen
oder schweren Sachschäden kommen.
Sicherstellen, dass alle Benutzer des
Lastaufnahmemittels diese Betriebsanleitung
kennen und jederzeit darauf zugreifen können.
Sicherstellen, dass alle Benutzer auch die
Betriebsanleitungen der Werkzeuge und
Betriebseinrichtungen kennen, die für die Arbeit
zusätzlich erforderlich sind.
Die Anweisungen in den technischen
Sicherheitsinformationen der Marken des
Volkswagen Konzerns sorgfältig lesen und beachten.
Sicherheitsschuhe tragen (nach ISO 20345, S2).
Schutzhandschuhe tragen, um Schnittverletzungen
zu vermeiden.
Hände und Füße so positionieren, dass keine
Quetschgefahr besteht.
Das Lastaufnahmemittel nur für die vom Volkswagen
Konzern freigegebenen Arbeiten verwenden.
Das Lastaufnahmemittel nur mit dem vom
Volkswagen Konzern freigegebenen Zubehör
verwenden.
Die maximale Tragfähigkeit gemäß Tabelle
"Lastfälle" keinesfalls überschreiten.
Die Anhängevorrichtung 3448 darf nur in Verbindung
mit einem geeigneten Werkstattkran (z. B.
VAS 6100) und ggf. weiteren freigegebenen
Werkzeugen gemäß den Reparaturleitfäden der
Marken des Volkswagen Konzerns eingesetzt
werden.
Die Sicherungseinrichtung der Lasthaken muss nach
dem Anschlagen vollständig geschlossen sein.
Sicherstellen, dass der Fahrweg für den
Werkstattkran (z. B. VAS 6100) frei und gut
einsehbar ist.
Die Last langsam, nicht ruckartig bewegen.
Die Anhängevorrichtung und die Last während aller
Bewegungen beobachten.
Der Aufenthalt von Personen unter der Last und im
Gefahrenbereich ist während des
Bewegungsvorgangs verboten.
Nicht an schwebenden Lasten arbeiten.

3 Bedienung
1. Die Anhängevorrichtung, den Lasthaken und die
Schäkel vor jeder Verwendung auf Vollständigkeit
und sichtbare Beschädigungen wie
Abnutzungserscheinungen, Deformation, Brüche,
Anrisse und Korrosionsschäden prüfen. Bei
festgestellten Mängeln die Anhängevorrichtung
keinesfalls verwenden und sofort aussondern.
2. Die Innensechskantschraube des Endanschlags
des Grundträgers auf einwandfreie Funktion
prüfen.
3. Die Sicherungseinrichtung (Splint) des
Schäkelbolzens prüfen.
4. Die erforderlichen Vorbereitungsarbeiten für den
Einsatz der Anhängevorrichtung gemäß den
Reparaturleitfäden durchführen.
5. Die Ausrichtung der Aufnahme für den Lasthaken
beachten.
6. Die Anhängevorrichtung 3448 am Werkstattkran
(z.B. VAS 6100) wie in den Reparaturleitfäden
beschrieben anbringen.
WARNUNG
Gefahr durch fallende Last!
Fehlerhaftes Anbringen der Anhängevorrichtung kann
ein Kippen oder Herunterfallen der Last verursachen.
Dies kann zu schweren Verletzungen und Sachschäden
führen.
Die Anhängevorrichtung genau wie in den
Reparaturleitfäden beschrieben am Werkstattkran
befestigen.
Schäkelbolzensicherung (Splint) prüfen.
Die Lasthakensicherung vollständig schließen.
Sicheren Sitz der Anhängevorrichtung 3448 vor
Anheben der Last prüfen.
7. Sicheren Stand oder Halt der Last beim Absetzen
gewährleisten.
8. Weitere Arbeiten wie in den Reparaturleitfäden
beschrieben durchführen.
9. Nach Abschluss der Reparaturarbeiten
sicherstellen, dass alle Teile des Spezialwerkzeugs
entfernt wurden.
4 Prüf- und Wartungshinweise
Die Anhängevorrichtung vor jeder Verwendung auf
Vollständigkeit und sichtbare Beschädigungen wie
Abnutzungserscheinungen, Deformation, Brüche,
Anrisse und Korrosionsschäden prüfen. Bei
festgestellten Mängeln die Anhängevorrichtung
keinesfalls verwenden und sofort aussondern.
Ersatzteile sind auf Anfrage verfügbar. Nur Original-
Ersatzteile verwenden.
Bei Fragen wenden Sie sich bitte an den für Sie
zuständigen 1st-Level-Support.
ACHTUNG
Bei einer nicht mit dem Hersteller abgestimmten
Veränderung des Produkts erlischt jeglicher
Gewährleistungsanspruch. Für Schäden an Personen
oder Gegenständen, die durch unsachgemäßen
Umgang mit dem Produkt entstehen, übernimmt der
Hersteller keinerlei Haftung.
