Connect wireless devices, an additional camera,
satellite device, or NMEA2000 connection
accessory by adding a BRNKL Mate to your BRNKL.

Add a Mate
Add a BRNKL Mate to your BRNKL.
Follow these steps:

You need these things to add a BRNKL

• iOS or Android™ mobile device,
connected to internet
> BRNKL 5.x or later
Services
• BRNKL user account and
password
• BRNKL service subscription
Tools
• 2.5 mm athead screwdriver
> Included with BRNKL
• Phillips #2 screwdriver
• Wire stripper and crimper tool
You may need:
• Flashlight or headlamp

①Select position
Follow these guidelines:
• Place indoors.
• If using standard cables, place
within 30 cm (12”) of your BRNKL.
• Ensure a stable mounting surface.
• Allow 10 cm (4”) clearance to
access the ports on the bottom of
the Mate.

Install Mate
Position and mount the BRNKL Mate.
To install the Mate, follow these
steps:
① Select postion
②Mount and secure

1. Align the Mate in the selected
position.
2. Mark the screw holes.
On hardened surfaces, drill pilot
holes as required.
3. Secure with four supplied screws.

• Avoid placement with ports facing
up.
• Face toward planned wireless
sensors.

Prepare Mate
power cable
Get the BRNKL Mate power cable
ready to connect to your BRNKL.
To prepare Mate power cable:
From the Mate:
1. Run the POWER cable to the green
connector on the bottom of the
BRNKL.
2. Leave 5 cm (2”) of extra cable, then
trim any extra wire.
3. Strip 5 mm (1/4”) of insulation
from the ends of the red and
black wires.

①Connect to power
Connect the POWER cable to the
BRNKL connector.
Don’t remove
existing wires.
1. On the bottom of the BRNKL,
remove the green connector.
2. On the connector, loosen the
screw above slot 10 and insert the
red POWER cable wire.
Tighten the screw to fasten.

Connect Mate
Connect the BRNKL Mate to your
BRNKL.
To connect the Mate, follow these
steps:
① Connect to power
②Disconnect camera
③Connect to BRNKL

3. Loosen the screw above slot 14 and
insert the black POWER cable
wire.
Tighten the screw to fasten.
4. Reattach the connector.
5. On the Mate, check the status
indicator light.
> If the light blinks red, the Mate is
powered.
> If the light is o, check the
BRNKL power connection.

6. Secure the cable with cable ties
and mounts.

③Connect to BRNKL
On the top of the BRNKL:
1. Plug the BRNKL cable into the
device port .
Turn the collar to fasten.
2. Secure the cable with cable ties
and mounts.
②Disconnect camera
Skip this step if no camera is
connected to the BRNKL.
On the top of the BRNKL:
1. Find the device port .
2. Unplug the camera cable.
Loosen the collar, then pull to
remove.

Connect second camera
On the Mate:
1. Plug the camera cable into the
blue port .
Turn the collar to fasten.
2. Secure the cable with cable ties
and mounts.
Connect camera
to Mate
Connect up to two cameras to your
BRNKL Mate.
Do one of the following:
Connect rst camera
On the Mate:
1. Plug the camera cable into the
yellow port .
Turn the collar to fasten.
2. Secure the cable with cable ties
and mounts.

3. From
Sengs, select Add device.
4. Select BRNKL Mate.
5. Scan the QR code or enter the serial
number printed on the Mate.
Follow the instructions.
6. On the Mate, check the status
indicator light.

Link the BRNKL Mate with your
BRNKL.
Connect the Mate to the
BRNKL before linking.
To link Mate with BRNKL:
1. On your mobile device, make sure
that Bluetooth® is turned on.
Don’t pair the mobile device with
the Mate.
Stay within 5 m (15 ft) of the
Mate while linking.
2. Open
BRNKL.

> If the light blinks green, the Mate
and BRNKL are linked.
> If the light blinks red, the Mate
isn’t linked. Stay within 5 m
(15 ft) of the Mate while trying
again.
