You need to pl ce your Decor 425 close enough to
the phone nd m ins power sockets so th t both cords
will re ch.
Setting up the phone
1. Plug the power d ptor into the left side of your Decor 425.
2. Route the power cord through the groove s shown below.
3. Plug the d ptor into the m ins power nd switch on.
You will he r, “Answer on, calls will be answered after
six rings”.

4. Set the nswering m chine clock
A. Press and hold until the current d y is nnounced.
B. Use nd to scroll through the d ys.
C. When you he r the correct d y, press . The current
hour is nnounced.
D. Use nd to select the correct hour.
E. When you he r the correct hour, press .
The current minute is nnounced.
F. Use nd to select the correct minute.
G. When you he r the correct minute, press .
The clock is now set nd the current d y nd time re
nnounced.
5 Set the ringer switch.
Position the ringer switch on the b se to On or Off.
Ringer On – The phone rings when you receive n
incoming c ll.
Ringer Off – The phone does not ring when you receive
n incoming c ll.

Your Decor 425 uses the 24-hour
clock - 13 is 1pm, 14 is 2pm nd
so on.
If there is power f ilure you will
need to reset the d y nd time.

Making and receiving calls
1. Lift the h ndset, listen for the di l tone, then di l the
number.

When your phone rings:
1. Lift the h ndset to t ke the c ll.

32 digits it will not be held in the
redi l memory
If the ringer switch is set to Ringer
Off (see p ge 7), the phone will not
ring when you receive c ll.

Storing memory numbers
Up to 10 phone numbers c n be stored in the memory.
E ch number c n be up to 16 digits long.
1. Lift the h ndset. You will he r the di lling tone.
2. Press .
3. Enter the phone number you w nt to store.
4. Press g in.
5. Press number between - on the keyp d where
you w nt to store the phone number.
The number is stored nd you c n repl ce the h ndset.
Changing stored numbers
Repe t the steps for storing number. The new number
will repl ce the existing stored number.

OGM – Outgoing Mess ge.
Switching on and off
Your Decor 425 is pre-set to record mess ges
(Answer ON).
1. Press to switch off.
You will he r “Answer off”.

Adjusting the loudspeaker volume
1. Use button to incre se or decre se the loudspe ker
volume.
Outgoing message
The outgoing mess ge is the mess ge c ller he rs
when your BT Decor 425 nswers c ll.
There re two pre-recorded outgoing mess ges th t
you c n choose from, outgoing mess ge 1 llows c llers
to le ve mess ge, whilst outgoing mess ge 2 does not.

“Hello. Your call cannot be taken
at the moment, so please leave our
message after the tone”.
OGM2 (Answer only) –
pre-recorded mess ge
“Hello. Your call cannot be taken
at the moment and ou cannot leave
a message, so please call later”.
Use either of these OGMs, or if
you prefer you c n record your own,
see opposite.
OGM2 is ‘Answer only’ so your
mess ge should not invite c llers
to le ve mess ge.

Selecting the OGM
1. Press and hold .
You will he r “Please select outgoing message”.
2. Press for OGM1 (Answer nd Record) or for
OGM2 (Answer only).
The selected OGM is pl yed b ck nd instructions re
given on how to record new outgoing mess ge.
Recording your own OGM1 (Answer and Record)
Your OGM c n be up to 3 minutes long.
1. Press and hold .
You will he r “Please select outgoing message”.
2. Press to re-record OGM1 (Answer nd Record)
The current OGM is pl yed b ck to you.
You re then invited to record your own OGM.
3. Press and hold to begin recording.
4. After the beep, spe k your mess ge cle rly bout
15–30cm from the microphone.

Deleting your OGM
1. Press and hold . When you he r “Please select outgoing
message” release the button.
2. Press to delete OGM1.
Or
Press to delete OGM2.
The chosen OGM begins to pl y.
3. During pl yb ck press .
Your Decor 425 pl ys b ck the def ult pre-recorded
OGM.
Indefinite message back-up
Your Decor 425 s ves ll mess ges indefinitely until
you delete them. Your mess ges will not be lost in the
event of power cut.
Memory full
If the nswering m chine memory becomes full the
mess ge indic tor will fl sh r pidly. You will not be
ble to record ny more c ller’s mess ges, new
OGM or memos. The BT Decor 425 will nnounce
memory full.

recording if:

• The memory becomes full during
recording.
• The incoming mess ge l sts
longer th n 3 minutes.

What is Time Saver?
If you ccess your nswering
m chine remotely nd you h ve set
Time S ver mode, your Decor 425
will nswer c lls fter 6 rings if no
new mess ges h ve been recorded,
or 2 rings if new mess ges h ve
been recorded. So, you c n
h ng-up fter 2 rings knowing you
h ve no new mess ges nd s ve
the cost of the c ll.
See p ge 23 for more inform tion
on remote ccess.
If ny of these functions re tried while the memory is
full, your Decor 425 will nnounce “Memor full”.
To cle r sp ce in the memory you will need to delete
some or ll of the mess ges. See ‘To delete individual
messages’, on page 21.
Answer delay
The nswer del y is the number of times your Decor 425
rings before nswering c lls.
It is pre-set to 6 rings. You c n choose from between
2 nd 9 rings or Time S ver.

of your Decor 425.
Memos re stored on the nswering m chine like c ller’s
mess ges nd c n be up to 12 minutes long (m ximum
recording time).
1. Press and hold .
You will he r “Please speak after the tone.To end
recording, release the button”.
2. Still holding spe k your memo cle rly into the
microphone.
3. To end recording rele se the button.
Message indicator
When you h ve new mess ges the mess ge indic tor
will fl sh.
The LED will fl sh when ny mess ges re received,
reg rdless of whether they h ve been listened to.
The light is on perm nently when the nswering m chine
is on nd there re no mess ges received.
The light is off only when the nswering m chine is off.

