WARNING
Do not pla e your BT Diverse X10 in
the bathroom or other humid areas.
Handset range
The handset re eption range from
the base is up to 300m outdoors
and up to 50m indoors, in ideal
onditions.
IMPORTANT
The base station must be plugged
into the mains power so ket at all
times.

until the handset is fully harged.

You need to pla e your BT Diverse X10 lose enough to
the telephone and mains power so kets so that the
ables will rea h.
The strength of the handset signal depends on where you
site the base. Putting it as high as possible an help to
provide the best signal. Make sure it is at least 1 metre
away from other ele tri al applian es to avoid interferen e.
Setting up the base
1. Plug the power adaptor able into the ba k of the base.
Plug the power adaptor into the mains wall so ket and
swit h the power on. When the power is onne ted
orre tly, the red Power light on the base omes on.

2. Install the 2 x AAA re hargeable batteries supplied.
Then slide the battery ompartment over shut.
With batteries installed the display will show:

the base for at least 16 hours. When harging the display
shows a s rolling battery i on .

Talk/ tandby time
Under ideal onditions, the
handset batteries should give
about 10 hours talk time or 120
hours standby on a single harge.
(The base power must be on at all
times.)
Note that new batteries do not
rea h full apa ity until they have
been in normal use for several days.
Battery low warning
When the battery harge be omes
low, the i on will flash in the
display and you will hear a warning
beep. You will need to re harge
the handset before you an use it.
Recommended batteries
Never use non-re hargeable
batteries. Only use NiMH
re hargeable batteries with a
minimum apa ity of 550 mAh.
Using inappropriate batteries will
invalidate your guarantee and may
damage the telephone.

Battery performance
For best performan e, leave the
handset off the base for a few hours
at a time. Running the batteries
right down at least on e a week will
help them last as long as possible.
The harge apa ity of
re hargeable batteries will redu e
with time as they wear out, giving
the handset less talk/standby time.
Eventually they will need to be
repla ed. New batteries are
available from the BT Helpline
on 08702 403180.
4. Conne t the telephone line ord to the base and plug the
other end into the wall so ket.
Ensure that ea h end of the line ord is fitted into the
orre t so ket.
Your BT Diverse X10 is no ready for use.
Attaching the belt clip (optional)
If you want to use the belt lip with your handset,
position it over the ba k of the handset, guide and push
it into the slot provided and twist it lo kwise until it is
se ure. See the illustration on the following page.

Any additional handsets you pur hase will need to be
individually registered to your BT Diverse X10 base
before they will work. See page 66.
Your BT Diverse X10 handsets are the same, so
instru tions throughout this guide apply to both.
