Ab dem 01.07.2003 wird die neue EG Richtlinie 94/9/EG (ATEX 100a) angewendet. Die beste-
henden Zulassungen müssen entsprechend den neuen Anforderungen erweitert werden. Das
vorliegende Bürkert Produkt entspricht bereits heute diesen Anforderungen und es ergeben sich
folgende Änderungen:

From 01.07.2003 the new EC Guideline 94/9/EC (ATEX 100a) will be applied. The existing
approvals must be extended according to the new requirements. The present Bürkert product
today already complies with these requirements and the following changes result:

As manufacturer, Bürkert Werke GmbH & Co herewith declares that these products
satisfy the requirements set forth in the Directives of the Committee for the
Harmonization of the Legal Regulations of Member States concerning
· electrical equipment with rated voltages of 50-1000 V/AC respectively 75-1500 V/
DC (Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EC),

Correct usage
To ensure that the device functions correctly and will have a long service life,
please comply with the information in these operating instructions as well as the
operating conditions and the permisible ranges that are specified in the data
sheets of device used.
• If these instructions are ignored, no liability will be accepted from our side, and
the guarantee on the device and its accessories will also become invalid!
• This device is exclusively intended for use as a solenoid valve for the media
permitted according to the data sheet and for use in Explosion Group II,
Category 2G or 2D and Temperature Classes T4, T5 or T6 (refer to the
information on the Ex-approval plate ).
• The class of protection used is EEx m encapsulation for coils with cable
connections or the EEx em encapsulation for coils with a terminal box.
• The coils with terminal boxes are not authorized for Category 2 D.
• An other use, or any use exceeding the above provisions will be considered as
incorrect usage . Bürkert accepts no liability for any damage resulting from
such use. The risk will be borne by the user alone.
• Comply with the requirements of EN 50281-1-2, e.g. in respect of dust
deposits and temperatures!

• When planning the application of the device, and during its
operation, observe the general technical rules with regard to safety.
• Take suitable measures to prevent unintentional operation or
impermissible impairment.

• Note that lines and valves should not be disconnected while the
system is under pressure.
• Always switch off the electrical power supply before carrying out any
work on the system!

Special Conditions
1. Short-circuit protection
Each solenoid must be connected in series with a fuse (max. 3 x Ibto IEC
60127-2-1) or motor contactor with rapid short-circuit and thermal triggering
corresponding to its rated current (the contactor being adjusted to this
current). With very small rated currents of the solenoids, a fuse with the lowest
current according to the stated IEC standard is adequate. This fuse may be
placed in the associated supply device or must be connected separately in
series. The rated voltage of the fuse must be equal to or greater than the
stated rated voltage of the solenoid. The cutoff capacity of the fuse cartridge
must be equal to or greater than the maximum expected short-circuit current
at the point of installation (usually 1500 A).
The nominal value of the fuse is quoted on the magnet.
2. Operation only with the accompanying valve
The solenoid types AC10- … PD73 to AC10- …-PD86 may only be operated
with a32 x 32 x 10 mm valve housing from metal or plastic (PA 6 GV). A larger
valve housing with better heat conductivity may be mounted at any time.
3. Individual installation
The solenoid types AC10- … - PD47 to AC10- … -PD72 are only suitable for
individual installation.
4. Operating temperature range
Comply with the operating temperature listed for each type in the ”Electrical
Data”!
5. Ambient temperature > 55 °C
For solenoid types AC10- …-6-PD53 and AC10- … -6-PD66, a heat-resistant
cable tail is used for ambient temperatures > 55 °C!

The solenoids AC10-..- -... may also be used in petrol tanks for the control of
the petrol in Zone 1 under the following pre-conditions.
1. The coil must be mounted on the armature guide tube.
It may only be dismantled by the manufacturer!
2. The valves always represent a closed system.
3. Temperature conditions for the solenoid type AC10 at 60 °C

Model with a terminal box
The solenoid AC10-..-.-... may also be manufactured with a terminal box.
Through the addition of a terminal box, the type of protection of these
solenoids is changed.
• The designation with the integrated terminal bos is: II 2G EEx em ll T4, T5, T6

Maintenance and repairs
When operated under the conditions
described in these instructions, the coils
are maintenance-free.
As a matter of principle, let all repairs be
carried out by the manufacturer!
The valve must not opened during repair or maintenance work on the
system, and the earth connection must not be disconnected!

ACCESSORIES
In the case of the version of the device with terminal box, in temperature class
T4, fuse Type 1058 with Approval PTB 01 ATEX U can be used.

EG - Konformitätserklärung
Hiermit erklärt die Firma Bürkert Werke GmbH & Co als Hersteller, dass diese Er-
zeugnisse den Anforderungen entsprechen, die in den Richtlinien des Rates zur An-
gleichung der Rechtsvorschriften der Mitgliedstaaten über
• elektrische Betriebsmittel mit Nennspannungen von 50-1000 V/AC bzw. 75-1500 V/
DC (Niederspannungsrichtlinie 73/23/EWG),
• die elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit (89/336/EWG)
•und für Geräte und Schutzsysteme zur bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung in
explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen (ATEX, 94/9EG) festgelegt sind.
Zur Beurteilung der Erzeugnisse hinsichtlich Einhaltung der Niederspannungs-
richtlinie wurden folgende Normen herangezogen:

ALLGEMEINE HINWEISE
HINWEIS Die Baumusterprüfbescheinigung PTB 00 ATEX 2129X finden Sie
im Anhang. Temperaturklassen und elektrische Daten siehe
"Technische Daten".

Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Bitte beachten Sie die Hinweise dieser Betriebsanleitung sowie die Einsatz
bedingungen und zulässigen Daten gemäß Datenblatt des eingesetzten Gerä-
tes, damit es einwandfrei funktioniert und lange einsatzfähig bleibt.
• Bei Nichtbeachtung dieser Hinweise sowie bei unzulässigen Eingriffen in das
Gerät entfällt jegliche Haftung unsererseits, ebenso erlischt die Garantie auf
Geräte u. Zubehörteile!
• Das Gerät dient ausschließlich als Magnetventil für die lt. Datenblatt
zulässigen Medien und für den Einsatz in Explosionsgruppe II, Kategorie 2G
bzw. 2D und Temperaturklasse T4, T5 oder T6 (siehe Angaben auf dem
-Zulassungsschild).
• Die angewandte Schutzart ist die Vergusskapselung EEx m für Spulen mit
Kabelanschluss oder die Vergusskapselung mit erhöhter Sicherheit EEx em
für Spulen mit Klemmenkasten.
• Die Spulen mit Klemmkasten sind nicht für die Kategorie 2D zugelassen.
• Eine andere oder darüber hinausgehende Benutzung gilt als
nicht
bestimmungsgemäß
. Für hieraus resultierende Schäden haftet Bürkert
nicht. Das Risiko trägt allein der Anwender.
• Die Anforderungen der EN 50281-1-2 zum Beispiel in Bezug auf
Staubablagerungen und Temperaturen sind einzuhalten.

• Halten Sie sich bei Einsatzplanung und Betrieb des Gerätes
an die einschlägigen allgemein anerkannten
sicherheitstechnischen Regeln.
• Treffen Sie geeignete Maßnahmen, um unbeabsichtigtes
Betätigen oder unzulässige Beeinträchtigungen
auszuschließen.
