This quick guide will assist
you with the use of the Cardo
scala-700LX Headset.
Before using the scala-700LX
we recommend that you
familiarize yourself with the
Bluetooth®functionality of your
cellular phone.

BEFORE USING
1. Make sure to charge the Headset for at least four hours before initial
use. Normally it takes approximately two hours to fully charge the
Headset.
2. Plug the charger into the Headset’s Charging Jack, which is located
just below the Wheel.
3. While charging, the red Status Light illuminates within 15 seconds.
When charging is complete the red status light will turn off.
NOTE: When charging begins, the Headset turns off
automatically, and must be turned on again when charging is
complete.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
All Headset functions are controlled either by:
• Pressing the Control Button either for a short period of less than a
second, or a long period of over three seconds,
or
• Moving the Wheel up or down, or by pressing it inwards.

TURNING THE HEADSET ON FOR THE FIRST TIME
In order for your Headset to work with your mobile phone, they must
first recognize each other. This process is called “Pairing”, and only
needs to be performed once for each phone.
Pairing the Headset:
1. Turn on your phone and make sure that its Bluetooth function is activated.
2. While the Headset is turned off, press the Wheel inwards for at least
8 seconds. The Status Light will begin rapidly alternating red and blue,
indicating that the Headset is in Pairing mode.
3. Using your phone, search for Bluetooth devices by following the
phone’s instructions.
4. After a few seconds the phone will list the scala-700LX as a “discovered
device”. Select it and follow your phone’s instructions to accept the pairing.
5. When prompted, enter 0000 (four zeros) as your PIN or passkey.
6. Your phone will confirm that Pairing was successful and the Headset’s
Status Light will begin flashing slowly in blue.
Note: If pairing is not completed within two minutes, the Headset
will return to standby mode (there will be a blue flash of the Status
Light every three seconds), and you must start the Pairing process
again from Step 2 above.

You can enter Pairing mode at any time while the Headset is
turned off by pressing the Wheel inwards for at least eight
seconds .
Your Headset can pair with up to eight phones, and will automatically
connect to the last phone connected to the Headset. To connect to a
different phone, go to the Bluetooth menu of the active mobile phone
and disconnect the Headset. Now go to the Bluetooth menu of the
desired phone and connect the Headset to this phone.
You may also use the SWAP function of the Headset to switch connections
between two paired phones (see Advanced Functions section).
ATTACHING THE HEADSET TO YOUR EAR
Attach the Headset to your ear using the Ear-Loop. Insert the pin of the
Ear-Loop to a suitable depth so that the speaker fits snugly in your ear
(hovering above your ear canal). Then bend the flexible bow of the Ear-
Loop to produce a snug but comfortable fit.

Basic Functions

Increase the volume Move the Wheel up by steps. When you hear a beep,
it is at maximum.

hear a beep it is at minimum.
Mute/Un-mute During a call, short press the Wheel inwards
Voice Dial During standby, short press the Control button
and state the name of the person you wish to
call (after a tone is heard).
Note that your mobile phone must support the
voice dial feature.

ADVANCED FUNCTIONS
Swapping between two active mobile phones
The scala-700LX allows you to swap, i.e. to alternately use one among
the last two phones to which it has been connected. While both phones
are turned on and the Headset is in Standby mode, double-press the
Wheel inwards. Now the Headset will switch to the second phone. Each
time you double-press the Wheel, the alternate phone connects to the
Headset. Other functions will remain the same.
NOTE: This feature may only be used wehn the Headset and both phones
are in standby mode.
Battery Status Indicator
To check the status of the Headset’s battery, press the Control Button
for at least four seconds while the Headset is on Standby mode. The
Status Light will flash for two seconds as follows:
• Blue Fully charged
• Red and Blue Medium charge
• Red Weak charge
Disabling / enabling the Status Light
To disable/enable the Status Light, while the Headset is in Standby
mode, move the Wheel down and hold for at least four seconds. The
Status Light will stop/begin flashing, depending on whether you are
disabling/enabling the Status Light.

Changing the Wheel orientation
The default configuration of the Headset is designed for use on your
right ear. This means that clicking up on the Wheel towards the small
‘+’ sign on the Headset increases the volume one step at a time, while
clicking down towards the ‘-’ sign on the Headset decreases the volume
one step at a time.
If you wear the Headset on your left ear, the scala-700LX allows you
to change the Wheel orientation from right to left ear, so that pressing
the Wheel up still increases the volume, and pressing down decreases
the volume.
To set the Headset for left ear orientation: Make sure the Headset is
turned off. Now turn it on by pressing and holding the Control button
while pressing in and holding the Wheel for 4 seconds. Once you see
3 blue flashes, the Headset is powered on and you may release the
buttons.
NOTE: The Headset will revert to its default right ear configuration once
it is turned off. In order to regularly use the Headset in left ear configuration,
always turn on the Headset using the Control + Wheel procedure above.
If you choose to wear the Headset on your left ear but do not wish to
change the Wheel orientation, the Wheel will function in the reverse order,
i.e. turning down will increase volume, turning up will decrease volume.

Locating the Headset (Buzzer Function)
The scala-700LX allows you to locate the Headset by activating an
audible buzzer.
To activate the Buzzer:
Dial a number with the mobile phone and press Send/Talk. While the
call is in progress (it is sufficient simply be ringing), begin pressing the
mobile phone’s volume buttons up, then down, repeating the up/down
sequence five or more times. The Headset will start buzzing.
Call back the last incoming caller (Callback Function)
The scala-700LX allows you to place a call to the phone number of the
last incoming call. The Headset will store the phone number of the last
answered, missed or rejected call.
To use the Callback function, while in Standby mode, rapidly move the
Wheel down twice and release (double down-click).
NOTE: The Callback number memory will be cleared if:
1. The Headset is disconnected from the current phone and
connected to a different phone.
2. The Headset is turned off or has been charged.
3. The last incoming caller had a blocked or restricted number.
NOTE: This feature is not supported by some mobile phones.

Auto-Answer
The scala-700LX allows you to automatically answer all incoming calls
using the Auto-Answer function. Please note that once this feature is
activated you are subject to unintended eavesdropping. Use of this feature
is at your own risk! Learn more at www.cardowireless/faq/autoanswer.
When Auto-Answer mode is enabled on an incoming call, the Headset
will ring for a few seconds and then automatically answer the call without
the need to press the Control button. Auto-Answer is disabled by default.
To enable/disable Auto-Answer, while in Standby mode, press and hold
the Wheel upwards for seven seconds. When the Auto-Answer function
is enabled, the blue Status Light will begin flashing rapidly.
NOTE: Auto-Answer will not answer an incoming call if you are
currently on a call (Call Waiting). Turning off the Headset will disable
the Auto-Answer function. Auto-answer can be enabled again after
turning on the Headset by following the instructions above.
Button Lock
The scala-700LX allows you to lock its buttons, preventing the buttons
from being accidentally pressed.
To lock/unlock the buttons on the Headset, in Standby mode,
simultaneously press the Wheel and the Control button for at least four
seconds.

STATUS LIGHTS
Missed Call Indicator
Whenever a call is missed or rejected, the red and blue Status Lights
will begin flashing simultaneously, notifying you of the missed call.
To clear this Missed Call Indicator, press any button on the Headset.
NOTE: This feature is not supported by some mobile phones.
The Headset uses the following Status Lights to display its status:

AUDIO TONES
With the exception of the actions described in the following table, all
actions are followed by a single tone to confirm that the Headset has
accepted the action. A double tone means that the action has failed.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Note: For most problems, it is recommended as a first step that you
turn the Headset off for one minute and then on again. If that fails,
try pairing the Headset and phone again.
Problem Action
Pairing fails 1. Delete scala-700LX from your paired
device list in your phone (if it is listed).
2. Turn off the mobile phone and Headset.
3. Take the battery out of the phone and
put it back.
4. Repeat the pairing process as described
in TURNING THE HEADSET ON FOR
THE FIRST TIME section above.

Can’t answer phone calls or (Assuming your mobile phone supports
