Universal Rack Mount
Shelf
The Universal Rack Mount Shelf for Desktop Appliances can hold one
appliance, or two appliances in a side by side (double) installation. The Rack
Mount Shelf dimensions are 482mm x 340mm x 44.4mm, and weight
1.73Kg. The shelf is mounted on a 1U rack.
You can attach these appliances on the Rack Mounting Kit:
n1500 ApplianceSeries- 1530 / 1550, 1570 / 1590 Wired
n3000 ApplianceSeries - 3100, 3200, 3600, 3800
For all installation setups, the ambient temperature range is 0 to 40 °C.
Note - The 1500 appliances include venting holes on the top surface. Do not
block them. Maintain a standard gap of 1U.
Power Adapters
Standard AC-DC power adapters that come with the appliance are included
in the appliance installation on the rack shelf.
1530 / 1550, 1570 / 1590 appliances:
nA single power adapter per appliance.
3100, 3200, 3600, 3800 appliances:
nCan have up to 2 power adapters per appliance to support power
redundancy.

Workflow:
1. Install the appliance and power supply on the shelf.
2. Install the shelf in the rack.
3. Attach the cables and power supply cable to the appliance.
4. Follow your rack mount instructions to attach the shelf to the rack.

Appliances
Single appliance installation
Note - A single appliance can only be installed in the middle of the shelf, not
on the side. All appliances can be placed with their ports facing the front or
rear of the shelf.
1. Place the shelf on a flat surface.
2. Identify the location and holes to use for your appliance. Refer to the
"Legend" on the previous page .
3. Attach the appliance to the shelf using 2 black screws and 2 washers:
a. Lift the shelf and insert the screw from underneath, through the
hole next to the letter (Dfor 1530 / 1550, and Efor 1570 / 1590).
b. Place the washer on top of the screw, with the wider part facing
up.
c. Place the edge of the fixator against the base of the screw.
d. Turn the washer a few times until it is in position. The fixator
prevents you from twisting the washer too far.

4. Line up the holes on the bottom of the appliance with the screws.
Place the appliance on top of the screws and slide it forward until it
locks into place.
Note - The holes on the back of the appliance are the same ones used
for wall mounting.

5. To secure the appliance, use a screwdriver (not included in kit) to
tighten the screws on the bottom of the shelf. After the screws are
fastened, the appliance is locked to the shelf.

1530 / 1550 single installation:
LEDs are facing the front, and ports are facing the rear of the shelf.
Note - The front panel of the appliance is located 5 mm from the front of the
shelf.
1570 / 1590 single installation:
LEDs are facing the rear, and ports

Side by side appliance installation
Follow the steps for a single appliance installation but place each appliance
on one side of the shelf.
Note - All appliances can be placed with their ports facing the front or rear of
the shelf.
1530 / 1550 side by side installation:
LEDs are facing the rear, and ports are facing the front of the shelf.

Installing the power adapter(s)
1. Attach the DC jack of the adapter and plug into the appliance.
2. Place the adapter in the correct position on the shelf and push it until
you reach the stopper. The power adapter LED should be facing up.
3. Place a bracket over the top of the adapter and attach to the shelf on
either side with the black screws.
4. Use cable ties as needed to hold the cables in position.
5. Attach the DC jack on the rear side to the rack power inlet.

3000 Appliances
Single appliance installation
Note - A single appliance can only be installed in the middle of the shelf, not
on the side. These appliances must be placed with their ports facing the front
of the shelf.
1. Place the shelf on a flat surface.
2. Identify the location for your appliance. Refer to the "Legend" on
page8 .
3. Attach the appliance to the shelf using 4 black screws:
a. Lift up the shelf and insert the screw from underneath, through
the hole next to the letter F.
b. Screw partially one by one until all 4 screws are secured, then
fasten all 4.
4. To secure the appliance, use a screwdriver (not included in kit) to
tighten the screws on the bottom of the shelf.
5. To pull out the service tag, pull it a bit to the bottom side and out.

3000 single installation:
Note - The front panel of the appliance is flush with the front of the shelf.

Side by side appliance installation
Follow the steps for a single appliance installation but place each appliance
on one side of the shelf.
Note - These appliances must be placed with their ports facing the front of
the shelf.
Best practice - The installation process should be done by two people.
3000 side by side installation:
Note - The rack may slightly bend in the middle with this setup. There is no
functional or other impact.

Installing the power adapters
1. Attach the DC jack of the adapter and plug into the appliance.
Note - The 3000 appliances can use 2 adapters per appliance.
2. Place the adapters in the correct position on the shelf. The power
adapter LED should be facing up.
3. Place a bracket over the top of the adapter and attach to the shelf on
either side with the black screws.
4. Use cable ties as needed to hold the cables in position.

Uninstalling the appliance
Note - This applies to all models of the appliance, in single and side by side
installations.
1. Unplug the cable from the power adapters and the appliance.
2. Loosen the screws from the adapter brackets and remove the
brackets.
3. Remove the adapters.
4. Remove the appliance:
nFor 1530 / 1550 and 1570 / 1590 - Move the appliance back
slightly and lift the appliance off the screws.
nFor 3000 - Loosen the 4 screws from the appliance and remove
it.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for the second appliance.

Replacement Procedure
To replace a unit from a side by side installation:
1. Follow the instructions in the procedure "Uninstalling the appliance"
on the previous page .
2. Remove the faulty appliance.
3. Follow the "Appliance Installation" on page8 procedures to install the
replacement appliance and power supply.
