Firmware update of the projector
Firmware update of the projector
The update le may be published on our website to add functions or x defects.
The following is how to update the projector rmware by yourself.

►Follow the procedure for updating the rmware. Follow the instructions. When
the instructions are not followed, the projector may not start up correctly. Update
the rmware at your own responsibility.
• Never turn off the projector during the update. When the projector is
unexpectedly turned off, disconnect the power cord and allow the projector to
cool down sufciently. After the projector has sufciently cooled down, turn on
the projector again and start the rmware update again from the beginning.
• Never remove the USB storage device while using it for the update.
• When updating the rmware by using the Web Control screen, make sure that
the network is not disconnected during the update. Wireless LAN is more likely
to be disconnected than wired LAN. Wired connection is recommended.
• Updating cannot be cancelled after starting it.
• Firmware cannot be back to the old version.
• The network function of the projector cannot be used during the update.
• HTTP is used for uploading the update le. Conrm with a network
administrator that there is no restriction of the le uploading.
CAUTION
The network function does not work properly after the update
1. Connect the power cord and turn on the projector, after pulling out the power
cord and leaving the projector for more than one minute.
2. Conrm the network setting of the projector after waiting more than two minutes.
Some of the settings may return to the default after the rmware update.
3. When the projector does not work properly and there is no problem in the
network settings, please contact your dealer.

1 Preparation
It is necessary to get an update le from our website.
The applicable update le can be selected from "Firmware Version" and "Model
Name" of the projector on our website.
Conrm "Model Name" and "Firmware Version", and download the update le.
1.1 Conrming the "Model Name" and "Firmware Version"
1. There are two conrmation methods.
• Select OPTION - SERVICE - FIRMWARE UPDATE in ADVANCED MENU of
the projector.
(The following is an example.)
Model Name LWU1200-DS
Firmware Version PRJ_LWU1200-DS_V0100
• Select Firmware Update from Main Menu in the Projector Web Control.
(The following is an example.)
Model Name LWU1200-DS
Firmware Version PRJ_LWU1200-DS_V0100
2. Take a note of the content of “Model Name” and “Firmware Version”.
1.2 Downloading the update le
Use a computer that can be connected to the Internet, and download the update
le from our website. For more information, please check our website.
NOTE • Do not change the name of an update le. The update may not be
performed correctly.
When the same update les are downloaded, subscripts may be added.
Make sure to use the le without subscripts.

Firmware update of the projector
2 Update
There are two ways of update: "update using a USB storage device" and "update
using the Web Control via network connection".
Each method is as follows.
2.1 Update by using the USB storage device
○ Necessary equipment
USB storage device
• USB2.0 compliant
• Memory capacity 32GB or less (100MB or more space is required)
• FAT16 and FAT32 format are supported.
○Update procedure
1. Make a folder in a USB storage device to save an update le.
Create a "PRJ" folder using single-byte uppercase letters in the root directory of
a USB storage device.
[USB storage device] ----
►Make sure to save the update le as follows. If the update le is not saved
correctly, the projector cannot recognize it.
• Create "PRJ" folder in the root directory of a USB storage device.
• Name a folder using single-byte uppercase letters.
• Save only one update le of the model you want to update in “PRJ” folder.
If plural les are saved in this folder, the projector may not recognize the
update le correctly.

2. Save the downloaded le in “PRJ” folder made in step 1.
3. Turn on the projector and the light source.
4. Insert the USB storage device to the projector after waiting at least two minutes.
Do not connect two or more USB storage devices.
5. Select OPTION - SERVICE - FIRMWARE UPDATE in ADVANCED MENU
of the projector.
File saved in the "PRJ" folder in the USB storage device is displayed. Make
sure that the le name is correct.
When the le name is not displayed, conrm step 1.

6. When you perform the update, select “YES”.
7. The update is completed in about a few minutes, and the projector restarts
automatically.
The following message is displayed after rmware update has completed
normally.
The projector will automatically turn off the light source to reect the updated
rmware in the operation. After the light source is turned off for a short time, the
light source is automatically turned on again.
After the light source is turned on, conrm the rmware version in OPTION -
SERVICE - FIRMWARE UPDATE in ADVANCED menu.

2.2 Update by Web Control via the network connection
○Necessary equipment
Computer that can be connected to a wired or wireless network by Web Control
• Use a browser which operation has been con rmed.
For more information, please check our website.
• Prepare a LAN cable or a router necessary for connection.
○Update procedure
1. Copy the downloaded update  le to the computer that can connect to the Web
Control.
2. Turn on the projector.
3. Select Firmware Update from Main Menu after connecting to Web Control.
Select the update  le saved in Computer by using the [Browse...] button.
When an appropriate  le is selected, the [Update Firmware] button gets ready
to be clicked.
4. Click the [Update Firmware] button to update.

5. The update is completed in about a few or several minutes (it depends on  le
transfer speed), and the projector restarts automatically.
Con rm the  rmware version in the Projector Web Control - Main Menu -
Firmware Update after the restart has been completed.

Firmware update of the projector
NOTE • Do not operate the browser during the rmware update.
• The update may not be performed correctly if the device you are using goes
to sleep mode during the rmware update.
• The projector cannot be controlled or its settings cannot be changed from the
web screen during the rmware update.
• The rmware can also be updated by using a USB storage device. The update
by Web Control cannot be performed during the update by using a USB storage
device.
• The rmware update cannot be executed when STANDBY MODE in the
SETUP menu is set to NETWORK-WOL and the projector is in standby mode
(light source is not turned on).
Set STANDBY MODE to NORMAL or QUICK START, or turn on the power and
make sure the light source is on to execute the update.
•
The rmware update cannot be executed when the shutter function of the
projector is on. Please execute the rmware update with the shutter function off.
