1. General
1.1 Precautions prior to Use
Thank you for purchasing our High efficiency Digital Overhead Stirrer.
This manual specifies the performance of this product, the method of use, and handling-
related precautions. Make sure to thoroughly read this manual prior to using this product.
The matters that require you to proceed with caution contain one of the following warning
signs. Make sure to be aware of the meaning of the following warning signs prior to using
this product in order to use this product safely.

In the case where the instructions are now followed, there is a risk that the user
may be injured.

In the case where the instructions are now followed, there is a risk that this
product may not function properly.
Do Not Approach
Do not approach this product while it is in use.

This is a functionally important matter, and, therefore, the user may not

1. General
1.2 About Product
This product is a multi-functional high-end digital-control product and is suitable for the
following fields: life science involving precision and reproducibility, diagnosis, medicine,
chemistry, pharmaceutics, and industrial use.
User convenience and safety were taken into utmost consideration in the process of
developing and manufacturing this product, and this product boasts its characteristics as
follows.
1. This product is a medium-/high-viscosity multi-functional experimental stirrer.
2. The equipped high-end BLDC motor helps this product demonstrate its high-efficiency stirring
performance and precise rotation control.
3. The torque of the impeller shaft and the viscosity of the sample displayed on a real-time basis
allow the viscosity of the sample to be confirmed intuitively.
4. The implementation of feedback control(constant-speed control) consistently maintains the set
rotation speed even when the viscosity of the sample is changed.
5. Precise speed control is realized, and a consistent stirring ability is provided at all speed.
6. The built-in high-end digital LCD screen displays the product status.
7. The built-in multi-functional jog-dial knob makes the control process convenient.
8. The built-in protective device protects the equipment from various risks such as motor overload
and overheating.
9. The employed through-type bearing makes it possible to freely adjust the impeller height.
10. The column and rotation count fluctuation are delicately designed to prevent the solution
spillover and equipment damage resulting from a sudden stirring.
11. To protect this product, this product is equipped with the following functions: overheating
prevention, overcurrent prevention, and error-detecting sensors.
12. By connecting a K-type external sensor(optional), the sample’s temperature can be confirmed on
a real-time basis.
13. In the case where this product is involved in an unexpected incident, the involved compensation
can be received in accordance with the product liability insurance. (100 million won for bodily
injury and for property damage)

2. Installation
2.1 Product Installation
* Precautions during Installation
1. To not lay down this product or apply any impact to this product. Doing so may internally
damage this product.
2. Install this product in a place where the floor is rigid and flat. Make sure to use this product in a
stable place.
3. Do not install this product in a place exposed to direct lights or in a dangerous place.
4. In the case where the controller or main body of this product makes contact with moisture or
organic solvents, there is a risk of short circuit. Avoid installing this product in a place exposed
to moisture or organic solvents.
5. This product is manufactured to properly function at the rated voltage. Make sure to confirm
the voltage status prior to installing this product.
6. Make sure to use the power cord(power line) provided with this product while installing and
using this product.
7. Do not install this product in an environment where there is a risk of inflammable gas leakage
or a risk of explosion resulting from an organic evaporation gas.
8. Proceed with caution to prevent any moisture, organic solvent, dust or corrosive gas from
entering this product.
9. Do not expose this product to a place packed with direct heat sources.
* Installation Procedures
10. Confirm whether or not this product is damaged during delivery. In the case where any damage
is found, contact DAIHAN Scientific’s call center.
1. This product must be arranged in a way securing sufficient surrounding space for ventilation
and fire prevention. The distance from the rear wall must be at least 20cm, and the distance
from the side wall and from the ceiling must be at least 10cm.
2. Install this product on a horizontal-surface device capable of bearing the weight of this product
without vibrating.
3. Never ground this product to a gas pipe, a plastic tap water pipe or a telephone circuit. There is
a risk of electric shock, fire, failure or device explosion.

In preparation for any accident that may occur while using this product produced by DAIHAN

* How to Assemble
1. Place the stand in the place where this product is to be installed, and connect the rod to the
stand. Then, rotate the clamp clockwise to connect it to the connected rod.
2. Insert the support rod into the rear side of the stirrer, and use the L-wrench to fasten. Connect
the support rod to the clamp and rotate the clamp clockwise to connect it to the support rod.

3. How to Use
3.1 Precautions during Use
lPrior to Use
Make sure to thoroughly read the user manual prior to using this product. Make sure
to thoroughly read the manual placed in the lab and prohibit unauthorized personnel
from using this product.
This product must be operated using the generally used power(AC 120V, 60Hz or AC
230V, 50/60Hz, Single phase). Make sure to use this product under the permitted
specified load.
Do not tilt or lay down this product during transport.
Make sure to install this product in a place where the floor is rigid and flat. There is a
risk of negligence-based accident.

- Make sure to follow the instructions below.
Make sure to operate this product indoors, and the indoor temperature shall be
maintained at 0℃~ 40℃. Using this product for a long time in an environment
exceeding the allowable range may cause this product to not function properly.
Do not damage, process, forcibly bend, pull or tie the power cord. In addition, placing
a heavy object on top of the power cord or inserting the power cord between two
heavy objects may damage the power cord which may result in fire or electric shock.
Do not directly apply water to this product or use water to wash this product.

Do not use wet hands to touch any electrical components such as the power plug or
control the switch. There is risk of electric shock.
Do not turn on or off this product through connecting or disconnecting the power

plug from the wall outlet and contact DAIHAN Scientific’s call center.

Do not use this product in a place exposed to continuous sunlight or rain. There is a
risk of product overheating or electrical defect.
(Using this product outdoors is prohibited.)
Do not use any inflammable spray products(lacquer, paint, etc.) or
volatile/inflammable chemical products near this product. The sparks resulting from
the switch may cause ignition.
Do not have unauthorized personnel disassemble or remodel this product. There is a
risk of critical electrical problem which is not covered by the warranty service provided
by DAIHAN Scientific.
Make sure to use a grounded outlet.
Do not ground this product to a gas pipe, a plastic tap water pipe or a telephone
circuit. There is a risk of electric shock, fire, failure or device explosion.
Periodically confirm whether or not the power plug is covered in dust, and make sure
that the plug is perfectly connected. In the case where the power plug is covered in
dust or not perfectly connected, there is a risk of electric shock or fire.
In the case where this product is not used for a long time, disconnect the power plug
from the outlet for safety. Dust may cause a risk of heat generation or fire.
Make sure to grab the plug while disconnecting the power plug. In the case where the
power plug is connected by grabbing the cord line, the internal cord line may be
partially disconnected which may cause a risk of heat generation or fire.
Completely insert the plug into a compatible outlet
.
In the case where the connection is loose, there is a risk of overheating which may
cause an arc.
In the case where any abnormal noise or symptom is found while using this product,
turn off this product immediately, disconnect the power line, and contact the place of
purchase or DAIHAN Scientific’s technical assistance team.
In the case where it is necessary to move this product, disconnect the power plug
from the outlet and proceed with caution to cause no damage to the power cord and
this product. The damaged cord may cause a risk of electric shock or ignition.
Confirm whether or not there are any foreign substances before/after using this
product. Maintain sure to keep this product clean at all times through using a neutral
detergent and a dry cloth to delicately remove any foreign substances.
The main source voltage fluctuation must be the nominal voltage +/-10%.
The maximum relative humidity must be 80% at 31℃and 50% at 40℃.
In the case where an error occurs, the buzzer sound level must be up to 60dB from a
1m distance.

product are the technical assets owned by DAIHAN Scientific. Your request for repair
must be made to a technician from the technical assistance team run by DAIHAN
Scientific or to a technician acknowledged through the training run by DAIHAN

3. How to Use
3.3 How to Use
-Connect the power cord on the rear side of this product and turn on the power switch on the
front side of this product.
①MODE - Set Stirring Mode
-When the power is turned on, the initial screen will read Set Stirring Mode.
-Once the power is turned on, the stirring LED will flicker, the LCD display screen will read “0
RPM” as the stirring speed, and a screen for setting the speed will appear.
-Stirring Speed Range: Ovs-S05 Model →200 ~ 3,000 RPM.
Ovs-T16 Model → G1: 50~300 / G2: 305~2,000 RPM
Ovs-G30 Model → G1: 10~100 / G2: 101~530 RPM
-As the jog-dial knob is rotated clockwise, the set value that the LCD display reads will increase
from the minimum value as the knob is adjusted, and the stirring process will be initiated as the
knob is pressed.
-During the stirring process, rotate the jog-dial knob counter-clockwise to decrease the speed
value.
During the stirring process, press the jog dial knob’s push button to stop the process.
-Press and hold the jog dial knob’s push button for 2~3 seconds to save the set value, and such
set value will be maintained the next time the power is turned on.
-The stirring LED will flicker when this mode is activated, and the LED will be turned on when
the stirring process is initiated.

-The LCD display will always read the stirring display throughout the stirring process, and the
stirring display will disappear when the stirring process stops.
-The display’s power bar represents the stirring power and will always be displayed throughout
the stirring process. The stirring power will be automatically adjusted according to the sample’s
viscosity in order to satisfy the set rpm.
-Gear Shift Function
1) The Ovs T16, -G30 model uses 2 different types of gears depending on the rpm.
G1 represents the first gear and is in charge of the low-speed high-torque domain, and G2
represents the second gear and is in charge of the high-speed low-torque domain.
2) In the case where the stirring speed is set while the operation is stopped, automatic changes
will be made between G1 and G2, and such change will appear as an icon in the upper left
section of the LCD. It will not be possible to change gears while this product is in operation.
Make sure to stop this product prior to changing gears.
②MODE - Set Timer Mode
-In the Set Stirring Mode, press the mode button once to switch to the Set Timer Mode.
Once the Set Timer Mode is activated, the green timer LED located in the top section will flicker.
-Rotate the job-dial knob clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the timer.
When the stirring process is activated with the timer set, the timer will be initiated.
-The set timer range is 00:00~99:59 and can be adjusted at intervals of 1 minute. Set the timer
to "00:00" for consecutive operations.
-The timer LED will always be turned on as long as the timer is in operation, and will be turned
off when the timer is complete. Once the operation is complete, a buzzer sound will be
generated and this product’s impeller rotation will be stopped.

-Press and hold the jog dial knob’s push button for 2~3 seconds to save the set value, and such
set value will be maintained the next time the power is turned on.
*Functions and Actions to Be Aware of
1. Overload Detection(Error1)
: In the case where the stirrer’s motor is overloaded due to the viscosity, operating time and rpm
of the target fluid exceeding the capacity of the stirrer, this function detects such overload and
puts a stop to the stirrer’s operation.
-In the case where the operation is stopped due to an overload, stop the stirrer, sufficiently cool
down the stirrer, and then re-activate the stirrer.
2. Error Detection(Error1)
: In the case where the rotation of the stirrer’s impeller is interrupted by a suspended object or
where a fluid having a viscosity exceeding the stirrer’s rotation torque is stirred, this function
detects such error and puts a stop to the stirrer’s operation to protect the stirrer.
-In the case where the operation is stopped due to an error, remove the object interrupting the
impeller.
-In the case where the operation is stopped due to a high viscosity, it is recommended to
replace the stirrer with a stirrer having a larger capacity or to replace the impeller with a more
suitable impeller.
-In order to maintain this product’s durability, once this product is stopped and the power switch
is turned off, it is recommended to wait at least 30 seconds before re-activating this product.
③MODE - Locking Mode
-In the Set Timer Mode, press the mode button once to switch to the Locking Mode.

-Since the jog-dial knob’s push button cannot be used in the locking mode, the stirring operation
and timer operation cannot be controlled. In addition, the LCD display and LED lamp will
indicate the current operating status.
-In the locking mode, the current stirring speed information will be displayed in the bottom
section, and the 4 different types of current status information will be displayed in the top
section. Rotate the jog-dial knob clockwise to confirm the status information in the following
order: temperature →timer →torque →viscosity.
1) Temperature Display: In the case where the K-type external temperature sensor is connected, it
displays the temperature value detected by the temperature sensor.
※Temperature measure values might not accurate because of the
characteristic of the K-type sensor.It is recommended to use this function
as a reference value. Please use a calibrated thermometer for experiments
that require accurate temperatures.
2) Timer Display: In the case where the timer is set, it displays the current remaining time.
3) Torque Display: It displays the torque value(in the unit of N·cm) applied to the shaft during the
stirring process.
4) Viscosity Display: It displays the fluid’s viscosity value(in the unit of mPas) calculated based on
the torque value applied to the shaft. In the case where the number of digits
representing the viscosity value exceeds 5, the display will read ‘000 –‘. For example,
a display reading ‘256 –‘ means that the viscosity value is 256,000mPas and a
display reading ‘2560’ means that the viscosity value is 2,560mPas.
※The viscosity display was calculated based on the experimental value
gained through using 1 liter of viscosity standard oil, a 9mm anchor blade
and a 10 liter tall beaker. The actual viscosity and displayed viscosity may
vary depending on diverse experimental conditions. It is recommended to
use this function as a reference value.

4. How to Control
4.2 Maintenance & Control
Digital Overhead Stirrer is manufactured by taking into consideration diverse situations that may
occur during operation. However, in order to maintain the stable performance of this product for a
long time, make sure to follow the instructions below.
1. Make sure to use the rated power(AC 120V, 60Hz or AC 230V, 50/60Hz, Single phase).
2. Make sure to use this product indoors in a place having a low humidity level, and make sure to
maintain the indoor temperature at 0°C ~ 40°C.
3. In the case where this product is not used for a long time, disconnect the power plug and
thoroughly dry this product prior to packaging and storing it.
4. In the case where it is necessary to replace a component due to a failure caused during
operation, it is a must to use the original components provided by this company.
5. In the case where a failure is caused by any use exceeding the normal limit, no maintenance
will be provided.
6. Make sure to use the specified power.
7. Do not use wet hands to touch the power plug and electrical components.
8. To clean this product, disconnect the power plug, use a delicate washcloth to gently clean this
product, and apply a bit of solvent having a low freezing point to a washcloth to spot-clean any
remaining stains.
9. In the case where this product is contaminated by a toxic chemical or gas, wear gloves and a
mask made of chemical-resistant materials and use a dry cloth to slowly clean and remove the
contaminated spots.
10. Soak the accessories in a neutral detergent, cleanly rinse them with distilled water and
thoroughly dry them prior to use.
11. When cleaning this product, do not directly pour water or place a liquid on top of the controller
or this product. There is a risk of fire.
12. Make sure that a fluid suitable for the use of this product is used. In the case where a high-
speed stirrer is used to stir a high-viscosity fluid for a long time, there is a risk that the
equipment may be damaged.
13. Proceed with caution to prevent any corrosive chemicals from making directly contact with the
surface of this product.
14. Do not directly touch the impeller while the stirrer is in operation.
