US Technical Standards
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference
when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equip-
ment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energ and, if not
installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment
in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the
user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense.

5 Safety Instructions
Only use the device if it is technically in proper working condition and for
the intended purpose while keeping safety and potential dangers in mind.
• Qualied Personnel
Mounting, connection, commissioning and conguration of the device
may only be performed by trained specialist personnel.
This also applies to maintenance, testing and repair of the device in
accordance with the locally applicable regulations (regional and coun-
try-specic legal regulations and standards), such as the regulations of
the DIN VDE 0701-0702 series of standards (VDE 0701-0702: “Testing after
repair, modication of electrical equipment - Periodic testing of electrical
equipment - General requirements for electrical safety”).
• Regulations
The use of video and audio surveillance systems is, in general, strictly
regulated.
Inform yourself about the currently valid laws and regulations regarding
data, worker and environmental protection before using the device and
ensure compliance with them.
• System Components
Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by
Dallmeier.
Inappropriate internal components may cause malfunctions, damages
and data loss and may result in the loss of warranty.
• Modications
Do not modify the hardware or software in a way that has not been test-
ed and approved by Dallmeier.

• Condensation Water
If the device is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulting
condensation water may cause malfunctions and damages.In this case,
wait (up to 8 hours) until the device has reached room temperature be-
fore commissioning.
• Earthing & Equipotential Bonding
For the safety of persons (protection against dangerous contact voltages)
and devices (protection against over-voltages) as well as for the immuni-
ty of information and communication technolog equipment to electro-
magnetic interferences (EMI), all protective measures, which are specied
by the currently valid DIN, VDE and ISO standards and which provide for
a standard-compliant earthing and a correct equipotential bonding of
electrical and electronic devices, are mandatory and must be fullled by
all means.
• Lightning Storms
To avoid damage to the device by electrical surge during lightning storms,
all protective measures, which are specied by the currently valid DIN,
VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-compliant
lightning protection equipotential bonding, are mandatory and must be
fullled by all means.

• Operating Conditions
Unfavorable operating conditions may shorten the life of the device and
may cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and may result in the
loss of warranty.
Observe the specications given in the technical data, the operating con-
dition requirements and the maintenance instructions.
• Vibrations
Vibrations can lead to malfunctions and damage. The device must not be
moved during operation.
• Foreign Bodies
If objects or liquids get into the device, immediately disconnect the mains
voltage to the device (e.g. by switching o the circuit breaker associated
with the circuit).
Inform your responsible sales partner.
• Smell of burning near the device
If you notice a smell of burning or smoke developing near the device, im-
mediately disconnect the mains voltage to the device (e.g. by switching
o the circuit breaker associated with the circuit).

• Opening the device
The device may only be opened by trained personnel and in a de-ener-
gized state for commissioning, testing, maintenance and repair.

Do not dispose of electrical and electronic devices in household waste.
Disconnect the mains voltage to the device (e.g. by switching o the

6 General Notes
Transportation and Packaging
Dallmeier is not responsible for any damage resulting from unprofessional/
improper transportation.
The device should only be shipped in the original packaging.
If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure that the used packag-
ing suciently protects the device against damage, moisture, heat and cold.
Warranty
The terms and conditions valid at time the contract was signed shall apply.
Appropriate Use
The IPS 10 000 appliance in the MK2 revision combines the recording
software SeMSy® Recording Server (V10) with a reliable and high-perfor-
mance server hardware. Perfectly matched components ensure high storage
speed and allow the recording of up to 120 high-resolution video streams at
a frame rate of 30fps. The integrated RAID 6 storage system already pro-
vides a high storage capacity and can be expanded by an external RAID 6
JBOD system.

7 Requirements
The device is designed for mounting and operation in a 19’’ standard rack
with active ventilation. The required rails are included in the scope of deliv-
ery.
Rack Installation
➡Ensure a free space of min. 60 cm at the front of the rack to be able to
open the door completely.
➡Ensure a free space of min. 75 cm at the rear of the rack to allow su-
cient air circulation and access for maintenance.
➡Place the rack in a location with restricted access to (equipment room or
server room).
➡Ensure that the rack is stable and can support the weight of the installed
equipment.
Device Installation
➡Mount heavy equipment in the lower area of the rack.
➡Note that the temperature in the upper area of the rack can be higher
than in the lower area.
➡Plan a space between the devices to allow better air circulation.
➡Ensure sucient air circulation by leaving a free space of 10 cm at the
front and rear side of the device.
Operation in the Rack
➡Keep the doors of the rack closed in order to ensure a sucient air circu-
lation.
Secure Earthing
➡Ensure anytime a proper grounding, preferably through a direct ground-
ing of the rack.

Power Supply
Operate the device with 115/230 V AC ±5%, 50/60 Hz.
Use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to protect the device from volt-
age spikes and to keep it in operation in case of power failure.
ATTENTION
Danger due to dicult separation from the circuit
The plug of the supply line serves as a separator from the supply circuit.
➡Use an outlet installed close to the device.
➡Make sure the outlet is easily accessible.

Earthing
ATTENTION
Damage to the recorder and connected peripheral devices or serious mal-
functions due to missing or improper grounding.
Damage to electronic components due to lightning or overvoltages as well
as malfunctions due to electromagnetic interference
➡Carry out all protective measures prescribed in accordance with cur-
rently valid DIN, VDE and ISO standards to ensure standard-compliant
grounding and correct (lightning protection) equipotential bonding of
the device and all connected peripheral devices to ensure the safety of
the devices (protection against lightning strikes and surges) and their
immunity to electromagnetic interference.
➡Observe the locally applicable regulations (regional and country-spe-
cic legal regulations and standards) with regard to the prescribed
minimum cross-sections of the grounding cables used.

WARNING
Electric shock due to live exposed electrical components as well as missing
or improper grounding
Danger to life or risk of serious injury
➡All work on the device (including the connection of peripheral devices)
may only be carried out by qualied personnel and in a de-energized
state (check that no voltage is present).
➡Perform all measures prescribed by currently valid DIN, VDE and ISO
standards to ensure that the device is grounded in accordance with the
standards in order to ensure the safety of personnel (protection against
dangerous touch voltages).
➡Observe the locally applicable regulations (regional and country-specic
legal regulations and standards) with regard to the prescribed minimum
conductor cross-sections for the electrical supply line (mains connection
cable).
