7.0 Installing a nger oat into a ground or surface water chamber
Care must be taken to ensure the correct type of oat switch is installed into the chamber. The AlertMaxx
is sold either with a nger oat or pendant oat. The nger oat must only be used for ground water
applications and the pendant oat must only be used for foul water applications.
1. Using the nut and washers provided, secure the nger oat to the inside of the oat housing so that the
oat rises with rising water levels (see gure 2).
2. Using the two cable ties provided, attach the oat housing to the discharge arm so it is 300mm from the
base of the chamber (see gure 3).

9.0 Installing a pendant oat into a foul water chamber
Figure 6. Foul Water Sump (DMS-165)Figure 5. Foul Water Float Switch
200mm
PLEASE NOTE
The pendant oat switch should be located in a position where the oat can pivot with rising water levels
and not become obstructed (see gure 5).
Option 1 - Free standing foul pump
1. Using the cable tie provided, attach the oat cable to the discharge arm allowing the bottom of the oat
switch to hang approximately 200mm above the base of the chamber (see gure 6).
Option 2 - Guide rail mounted foul pump
1. Pull the oat cable through the oat weight.
2. Using a cable tie, secure the oat weight to the oat cable so there is 80mm of oat cable between the
top of the oat switch and the bottom of the oat weight.
3. Drill a hole through the oat bracket. Hang the pendant oat from the oat bracket so the bottom of the
oat switch hangs approximately 200mm from the base of the chamber. Once the pendant oat is at the
correct height, secure the oat cable to the oat bracket using a cable tie.

11.0 Activating & testing the AlertMaxx unit
Before going through the testing process, ensure the mains power to the AlertMaxx unit is switched o.
11.1 Turning on the AlertMaxx unit for the rst time
1. Remove the battery from the AlertMaxx unit, remove the plastic covers on battery terminals and connect
the red and black leads from the PCB on the lid to the battery, red to red and black to black.
2. Re-secure the battery to the unit by pressing the Velcro on the battery hard against the Velcro on the unit
until a ‘click’ is heard.
3. Once the battery has been connected, the alarm will beep three times and all three LEDs will ash
three times.
4. Check that the green LED ashes every second and after one minute the unit emits a short beep
followed by a ash from the red LED every 5 seconds.
5. Ret the front fascia.
6. Turn on the mains power supply to the AlertMaxx unit. The beep and red ash from step 4 will stop after
approximately 30-60 seconds.
11.2 Testing the AlertMaxx unit
1. Test the alarm by pressing and holding the ‘TEST’ button for 10-15 seconds. The alarm will sound and
the red LED will ash every second.
2. Release the ‘TEST’ button. The alarm and ash from the red LED will stop within 10 seconds.
3. Test the oat switch by raising the oat switch to its upright position. The alarm will activate within
10-15 seconds.
4. Release the oat switch. The sounder will stop within 30 seconds and the green LED will ash 2/sec.
Press the ‘RESET’ button, the green LED will ash 1/sec and reset the unit.
5. The activation & testing is now complete and the AlertMaxx unit is ready for use.
Once the AlertMaxx has been installed and fully tested, please apply one of the chamber location stickers,
provided in the box, to the bottom right hand corner of the AlertMaxx fascia and one to its relevant fuse spur.
This is to signify which pump station the high level alarm is connected to and which spur powers it.
CAUTION!
If the battery is misconnected to the AlertMaxx (i.e. black to red), this will destroy the unit (which can
be detected by the manufacturer) and void the warranty.

12.0 Connecting external devices
12 For technical support, please call 01279 757400
AlertMaxx
Figure 8. Example connection of an
external device powered by the AlertMaxx
The AlertMaxx unit has volt free contacts to connect external devices such as an alarm or beacon. When the
alarm is activated the relay sends a signal once every second.
The volt free relay is designed to accept devices with a maximum load of 0.5A and voltage up to 30V.
If external devices fall outside these parameters, the external device must be powered by an external power
supply.
You can use the AlertMaxx to power external devices with a maximum voltage of 6-7V (see gure 8).

13.0 Servicing
The AlertMaxx unit will alert home owners when their pump station requires servicing. This is indicated by
the blue LED ashing every second followed by one beep every minute. The beep can be muted by pressing
the ‘RESET’ button. The beep will return 7 days from pressing the ‘RESET’ button until a service technician
resets the alarm unit.
The AlertMaxx unit has a factory default service interval of 12 months.
