Important advice for installation / configuration of your GATEWAY 500
for Porsche with MOST bus
Please read these advices first – before installation!
1. Configuration of the DIP switches on the GATEWAY 500 interfaces
Before shipping, we configured your GATEWAY 500 to „Porsche“ – mode, depending on the car radio /
navigation system you choose with your order.
Please double check the GATEWAY 500 interface again before installation, whether the DIP switches are
in the correct position.
navigation system PCM2, PCM2.1, PCM2 DVD car radio: CDR23, CDR24
DIP-switch 2 and 3 are in the upper „ON“ position
DIP-switch 2 and 3 are in the lower „OFF“
position
DIP-switch 4 is in the upper „ON“ position
DIP-switch 1, 2 and 3 are in the lower „OFF“
position

2. Installation of GATEWAY 500 in front of PCM / CD changer
The GATEWAY 500 interface shall be integrated into the optical MOST ring of Porsche Cayenne in front
of the PCM.
In all other compatible Porsche models with optical MOST BUS (Boxster, Cayman and 911), the
GATEWAY 500 interface must be integrated into the optical ring after the PCM / CDR unit and in front of
the CD changer, like shown in pic. 1, page 2 in the English installation guide (DENSION
The pictures 4b and 5 on page 3 might raise the impression, the GATEWAY 500 interface is meant to be
installed into the optical line-out cable after the CD-changer. This is not valid for Porsche systems; please
ignore picture 4b and 5 on p. 3 regarding the optical ring direction.
3. Configuration of the CD text display – GATEWAY 500
Amendatory explanation to the DENSION user manual (2. Configuration)
The GATEWAY 500 enables display of song and artist information (CD text) on the screen of the
navigation systems PCM. The CDR radio devices are not text capable.
In order to apply the full potential of the screening possibilities you have to proceed the following
configurations after installation of the GATEWAY 500.

Some car navigation system-models are „only“ CD text capable, but most types are list capable as well.
After installation of the GATEWAY 500 and first time activation of the iPod, the title of the first Playlist /
first song or just “Track 1” appears on the display of CD text capable devices. Additionally, the list capable
radios / navigation systems show a list below this first title, which only indicates track 2, track 3 and so on.
This display can be optimized now!
1. At first, please remove the single CD, which might be situated in the integrated single CD player.
2. Play a song from the iPod and observe whether the display of the PCM already shows ID3 tag
information (CD text), meaning song title and artist or not.
3. During the following configuration procedure of the GATEWAY 500, please switch to the audio menu
of the PCM (by pressing the audio button). Only in this menu it is possible to adjust the following
configuration steps. In the as well available main menu, the different functions can only be displayed but
not configured.
4. After the device is switched to the audio menu, please press the CD button until the CD changer menu
is displayed as a submenu.
5. In order to load the configuration menu it is
necessary, while the music is played, to switch the
mode selector 3 times back and 3 times forth (6
switching) between the CD changer mode and the
GATEWAY 500 mode (see pic. 2).

6. By that, the following configuration menu must appear on the
display of the navigation system: „Cfgdev“ (pic. 3).
With some Porsche navigation systems it is possible, that the
system switched now to the FM mode. In that case please just
press again the CD button in order to get back to the
configuration menu.
In case no menu appears, please repeat the fast back and forth
switching until the menu is displayed.

7. In the configuration menu you are able to proceed 5 configuration steps. Picture 3 shows the first out of
five possible steps, NO TEXT (1/5). This first step is displayed, but not needed with any Porsche models.

8. If you determined (under
step 2.) that ID3 tags
where not displayed (CD
text), please start with the
configuration with (TEXT)
2/5 (pic. 4) and go on with
(+CACHE) 3/5.
Is your PCM already text-
capable, start with the
option (+CACHE) 3/5.

You enter the configuration menu
option (TEXT) 2/5 or (+CACHE) 3/5
by pressing the arrow button: #>
(pic. 6) located on the left side next
to the display, until you reach the
desired option.
Confirm the chosen option by
pressing the same button for more
than 3 seconds. This confirms the
text display option (TEXT), or
respectively the storage for the text
display (CACHE).

9. Now please activate the configuration menu (pic. 2) again by switching the mode selector 3 times back
and forth (6 switching) (see pic. 2).
10. Select (+PAGING) 4/5 and confirm it. This function
facilitates the navigation within a list, whenever a list consists
of several pages.
11. Repeat this procedure for function 5. („+SELECT“) or (5 – Track 0). The „+SELECT“ function equips
the round rotary knob with the capability to select and control the single song titles directly.
After setting up these options (TEXT if necessary, CACHE, PAGING and SELECT), the CD text display
on your navigation system is adjusted in an optimal way.
