3 Safety instructions
WARNING! Electrocution hazard
• Installation and removal of the device may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
• Do not disconnect any cables when the device is in use.
• If this device's connection cable is damaged, the connection cable must be replaced by the manu-
facturer, a service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to prevent safety hazards.
• This device may only be repaired by qualified personnel. Improper repairs can lead to considerable
hazards.
• When the device gets disassembled: Detach all connections. Ensure that no voltage is present on
any of the inputs and outputs.
WARNING! Fire hazard
• Do not place the device on highly flammable surfaces.
• Do not cover the vents.
• Avoid the contact with direct heat sources.
WARNING! Health hazard
• This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physi-
cal, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given su-
pervision or instruction concerning use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards in-
volved.
•Electrical devices are not toys. Always keep and use the device out of the reach of very young
children.
• Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

• Do not operate the device if it is visibly damaged.
• Observe that parts of the device may still conduct voltage even if a fuse has blown.
• Do not use the device in wet conditions or submerge in any liquid. Store in a dry place.
• Only use accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer.
• Do not modify or adapt any of the components in any way.

• Before start-up, check that the voltage specification on the data plate is the same as that of the pow-
er supply.
• Ensure that other objects cannot cause a short circuit at the contacts of the device.
• Ensure that the negative and positive poles never come into contact.
Installing the device safely
WARNING! Electrocution hazard
• Lay the cables so that they cannot be damaged by the doors or the hood.
• Crushed cables can lead to serious injury.

Install the device in a well ventilated area.
CAUTION! Risk of injury
• Ensure that the device is securely fastened so that it cannot get loose under any circumstances (e. g.
sudden braking, accidents) and cause injury to the occupants of the vehicle.
• When positioning the device, ensure that all cables are suitably secured to avoid any form of trip
hazard.
NOTICE! Damage hazard
• Do not place the device near heat sources (heaters, direct sunlight, gas ovens, etc.).
• Set up the device in a dry location where it is protected against splashing water.
• Use ductwork or cable ducts if it is necessary to lay cables through metal panels or other panels with
sharp edges.
• Do not lay the cables so that it is loose or heavily kinked.
• Do not pull on the cables.
• Do not place the device near AGM or EFB batteries because they produce flammable, corrosive
and explosion gas while working.
Safety precautions when handling batteries
WARNING! Risk of injury
• Batteries contain aggressive and caustic acids. Avoid battery fluid coming into contact with your
body. If your skin does come into contact with battery fluid, wash that part of your body thoroughly
with water. If you sustain any injuries from acids, contact a doctor immediately.
• When working on batteries, do not wear any metal objects such as watches or rings. Lead acid bat-
teries can cause short circuits which can cause serious injuries.
• Only use insulated tools.
• Do not place any metal parts on the battery.
• Wear goggles and protective clothing when working on batteries. Do not touch your eyes when
working on batteries.
• Do not use defective batteries.

Keep the battery out of the reach of children.
CAUTION! Electrocution hazard
• Keep the battery away from water.
• Avoid short circuits.
• Avoid clothing rubbing against the battery.
• Wear antistatic clothing when handling the battery.

CAUTION! Explosion hazard
• Do not place the battery in a area with flammable liquids or gases.
• Never attempt to charge a frozen or defective battery. Place the battery in a frost-free area and wait
until the battery has acclimatised to the ambient temperature. Then start the charging process.
• Do not smoke, use an open flame, or cause sparking near the engine or a battery.
• Keep the battery away from heat sources.
NOTICE! Damage hazard
• Only use rechargeable batteries.
• Prevent any metal parts from falling on the battery. This can cause sparks or short-circuit the battery
and other electrical parts.
• Ensure that the polarity is correct when connecting the battery.
• Follow the instructions of the battery manufacturer and those of the manufacturer of the system or
vehicle in which the battery is used.
• If the battery has to be removed, first disconnect the ground connection. Disconnect all connec-
tions and all consumers from the battery before removing it.
• Only store fully charged batteries. Recharge stored batteries regularly.
• Do not carry the battery by its terminals.
Safety precautions when handling lead acid batteries
CAUTION! Health hazard
The water-acid liquid inside the battery can evaporate and cause an acidic odor. Use the battery only in a
well-ventilated area.
NOTICE! Damage hazard
• The battery is not sealed. Do not turn the battery on its side or upside down. Place the battery on a
horizontal surface.
• Check the acid level for open lead acid batteries regularly.
• Immediately recharge deeply discharged lead acid batteries to avoid sulfation.

5 Intended use
The battery monitor is intended to monitor and control the current information about the battery charging and dis-
charging current from 12 V lead acid batteries of AGM, Gel and Wet. The battery monitor is intended to connect
the connected batteries in parallel and protect them from deep discharge. The battery monitor is intended to be in-
stalled in recreational vehicles.
The battery monitor is not intended to be used with lithium batteries.
This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for proper installation and/or operation of the product. Poor in-
stallation and/or improper operating or maintenance will result in unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for any injury or damage to the product resulting from:
• Incorrect assembly or connection, including excess voltage

• Incorrect maintenance or use of spare parts other than original spare parts provided by the manufacturer
• Alterations to the product without express permission from the manufacturer
• Use for purposes other than those described in this manual

6 Technical description
The battery monitor consist of a control unit and a display.
The black box measures the data from a battery and transmits the data to the display. The black box is available in
two versions. The iManager12-150 transmits the measurement data via a power cable. With the iManager12-150W
the data is transmitted wireless.
The battery monitor measures the flowing data:
• Battery state of charge (SoC)
• Battery voltage (V)
• Battery current (A)
The battery monitor can be connected simultaneously to up to one starting battery and 2 house batteries of different
types and capacities. The battery monitor constantly checks the voltage of the connected batteries and automatically
selects the battery to be used according to the charging and discharging currents.
The battery monitor is connected to a battery charger or a solar panel and charges the connected batteries. The
charger charges the house batteries evenly through the battery monitor and ensures that the house batteries have
approximately the same state of charge. The starting battery is charged when its voltage is less than 12 V and the
house batteries are fully charged.
Battery monitoring
The battery monitor controls the voltage of the connected house batteries during charging and discharging as well
as the temperature of the house batteries. The battery monitor disconnects a house battery when any of the follow-
ing occurs:
• The voltage of one or both house batteries is below 10.5 V.
• The voltage of one or both batteries is below 11 V for more than 15 min.
• The temperature of one or both house batteries exceeds 60 °C.
If a wireless display is connected to a control unit via a power cable, the display is also disconnected. When a battery
is disconnected, a sequence of beep sounds.
Automatic mode
When the automatic mode is activated, the battery monitor selects the battery to be used and charges the batteries if
a charger is connected to the battery monitor.
If the battery monitor is connected to two house batteries with different state of charge and a charger, the battery
manager charges the house battery with the smallest state of charge until a state of charge similar to the other house
battery is reached.

The battery monitor selects the house battery with the highest state of charge to be used. If the current of a house
battery is less than 25 A, the battery monitor selects the most charged secondary battery until its voltage is 0.3 V low-
er than the voltage of the other secondary battery.
If the voltage of one of the house batteries is lower than 11.2 V, the battery monitor switches the house batteries in
parallel and disconnects the other connected devices when the voltage drops below 10.5 V.
If the discharge current of the house batteries is greater than 25 A and the state of charge of the house batteries is the
same, the battery monitor switches the house batteries in parallel until the current is less than 20 A.
The battery manager automatically charges the starting battery when the following conditions are present:
• The battery voltage of the starting battery is below 12.5 V.
• The house batteries are completely charged.
• A charging source is connected to the battery monitor.
The charging process is stopped when the starting battery is fully charged, the charging source is switched off or the
vehicle is started.
Manual mode
If the manual mode is activated, it can be selected which house battery shall be used. The battery monitor continu-
ously monitors the operating temperature and the voltage during discharge of the connected batteries. The selec-
tion of the battery will be limited by the battery monitor if the operating temperature is too high or the minimum volt-
age of 10.5 V was undercut.

Home screen
The home screen indicates if a starting battery and one or two house batteries are connected to the battery monitor.
The status of each battery, e.g. whether it is connected or disconnected, being charged, the state of charge of the
house batteries and if the house batteries are connected in parallel is displayed. The technical values of the batteries
can be displayed. The current time, date, brand of the product, set mode, and other icons are displayed.


7 Installation
The electrical power supply must be connected by a qualified electrician who has demonstrated skill and
knowledge related to the construction and operation of electrical equipment and installations, and who
is familiar with the applicable regulations of the country in which the equipment is to be installed and/or
used, and has received safety training to identify and avoid the hazards involved.
Installation location
When selecting an installation location, consider the following:
• The mounting surface must be even and sufficiently solid.
• The battery monitor must be installed in a location that is protected from moisture and dust.
• Install the battery monitor inside the vehicle.
• Install the battery monitor in a well ventilated area, away from flooded batteries and places with free acid
gasses.
Mounting the display
NOTICE! Damage hazard
• Using wrong cables can lead to excessive overheating of the cables, high voltage drops, and possi-
ble failures. Use only the cables supplied.
• Ensure that no electrical cables or other parts of the vehicle can be damaged before drilling holes.

Ensure that the engine of the vehicle and the battery chargers in the vehicle are switched off.
CAUTION! Electrocution and damage hazard
•Connect the negative pole of a house battery (1, fig. on page10) to the negative pole of the
control unit at the end of the installation.
• Only connect devices with a total power consumption of max. 1500 W to the control unit. Connect
devices with a power consumption over 1500 W to a house battery only.

Observe the technical data when connecting batteries or other devices to the battery monitor (see Techni
cal data on page29).

Note
• The wireless display can be connected to the control unit via the connection for additional 12 V de-
vices instead of connecting it to a starting battery.
• If the wireless display is connected to the control unit via the connection for additional 12 V devices,
the battery monitor is switched off when the battery disconnection is active.
•Stick one temperature sensor on each of the house batteries. Observe fig. on page10.
• The specified value for the fuse of the house battery is a reference value. Use a fuse that is at least
30 % higher than the maximum current of the house battery used.
