WARNING and CAUTION statements specific to
subsystems or particular features of the medical
device appear in the respective sections of these
instructions for use or in the instructions for use of
another product being used with this device.
Strictly follow these instructions for use
Service
WARNING
Risk of incorrect operation and of incorrect
use
Any use of the medical device requires full
understanding and strict observation of all
sections of these instructions for use. The
medical device is only to be used for the
purpose specified under "Intended use".
Strictly observe all WARNING and CAUTION
statements throughout these instructions for
use and all statements on medical device
labels. Failure to observe these safety
information statements constitutes a use of
the medical device that is inconsistent with its
intended use.

Risk if service is not performed regularly
If service is not performed regularly,
malfunctions may occur, which can result in
personal injury and property damage.
Perform the service in accordance with the
chapter "Maintenance".

Risk due to incompatible accessories
The use of incompatible accessories may
adversely affect the functional integrity of the
product. Personal injury and property damage
may occur as a consequence.
Use only compatible accessories. The
accessories compatible with this product are
listed in the current list of accessories for
supply units (G15600) and in the list of
accessories in these instructions for use.
WARNING
Risk of electric shock and of device
malfunction
Any connected devices or device
combinations not complying with the
requirements mentioned in these instructions
for use can compromise the correct
functioning of the medical device and lead to
an electric shock. Before operating the
medical device, strictly comply with the
instructions for use of all connected devices
or device combinations.
WARNING
Risk of patient injury
Electrical connections to equipment not listed
in these instructions for use or these
assembly instructions must only be made
when approved by each respective
manufacturer.
The system must meet the requirements of
IEC 60601-1:2012 and IEC 60601-1-2:2014
(general requirements for the safety of
medical electrical equipment).

Safety-related information
Patient safety
The design of the medical device, the
accompanying documentation, and the labeling on
the medical device are based on the assumption
that the purchase and the use of the medical device
are restricted to persons familiar with the most
important inherent characteristics of the medical
device.
Instructions and WARNING and CAUTION
statements are therefore largely limited to the
specifics of the Dräger medical device.
The instructions for use do not contain any
information on the following points:
– Risks that are obvious to users
– Consequences of obvious improper use of the
medical device
– Potentially negative effects on patients with
different underlying diseases
– Medical device modification or misuse can be
dangerous.
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
Medical electrical equipment is subject to special
precautionary measures concerning
electromagnetic compatibility. During installation
and before initial operation, follow the information in
section: "EMC declaration" (page 51).
This device can be affected by other electrical
devices.
WARNING
Risk due to electrostatic discharge
Malfunctions that endanger the patient may
occur if no protective measures against
electrostatic discharge are employed in the
following situations:
– When touching the pins of connectors that
carry the ESD warning symbol.
– When establishing connections with these
connectors.
To prevent malfunctions, observe the
following measures and train the relevant
personnel:
– Observe the ESD protective measures.
Such measures may include wearing
antistatic clothing and shoes, touching a
potential equalization pin before and while
making the connection, or using
electrically insulating and antistatic
gloves.
– Observe the requirements for the
electromagnetic environment. Observe the
following section: "Electromagnetic
environment" (page 51).

Strictly observe instructions for use and assembly
instructions.
Storing the instructions for use
Training
Training for users is available via the Dräger
organization responsible (see www.draeger.com).
Functional safety
The performance of supply units consists of:
– Power supply for medical devices
– Supply of medical gases to medical devices
– Scavening of anesthetic gases (optional)
WARNING
Risk due to electromagnetic disturbance
Wireless communication devices (e.g.,
cellular phones) and medical electrical
equipment (e.g., defibrillators, electrosurgical
devices) emit electromagnetic radiation.
When such devices are operated too close to
this device or its cables, the functional
integrity of this device may be compromised
by electromagnetic disturbances. As a result,
the patient could be put at risk.
Maintain a distance of at least 0.3 m (1.0 ft)
between this device and wireless
communication devices, to ensure that the
performance of this device is fulfilled.
Maintain an adequate distance between this
device and other medical electrical
equipment.
WARNING
Risk of device malfunction
Install accessories to the basic device in
accordance with the instructions for use of
the basic device. Make sure that there is a safe
connection to the basic device.
CAUTION
Risk of incorrect use
Instructions for use must be kept accessible to the
user.

WARNING
Risk of personal injury and equipment
damage
The complete system must meet all regulatory
or technical requirements and approvals after
the retrospective installation of components
on this medical device.
The operator of the health-care facility is
responsible for the correct selection of
retrospectively installed components.
Only specialized service personnel may carry
out the respective installation of components.
WARNING
Danger of overheating
The supply unit can overheat if objects are
placed in the area of the light fittings.
Do not place any objects in the area of the
light fittings.
WARNING
Risk when the housing is being opened
Under the housing, there are live electrical
components, which may cause an electric
shock.
The housing may only be opened by those
target groups that are assigned to that
particular measure.
WARNING
Increased fire risk
Terminal units must not come into contact
with oil, grease or flammable liquids.
WARNING
Risk of personal injury and equipment
damage
The supply unit must be in flawless operation
condition. Damage can cause objects
(defective gas terminal units and power
sockets, loose paint particles, adhesive
labels, etc.) to fall down into the treatment site
and compromise the supply to the patient or
the connected devices.
CAUTION
Danger of damage to objects
Do not exceed the maximum load for the supply
unit and the individual components, e.g., shelves
and compact rails.
NOTE
Certifications depend on market-specific terminal
units (e.g., terminal units and power sockets).
NOTE
The CSA mark is only valid for devices equipped
with components for the North American market.

Environments of use
The wall supply unit is intended for use in rooms
used for medical purposes, particularly in the
emergency medicine, intensive care, and
postoperative care.
Description
The wall supply unit is a media column which is
vertically mounted on the wall, from which medical
devices are provided with power, medical gases,
and communications interfaces.
The terminal units for supplying media are
integrated on one or both sides of the media
column.
In this way, each workstation can be individually
adapted optimally to the particular requirement.

Application

Variants
The configuration of the care place is generally
chosen to meet customer needs.
The care place configuration is available in three
different variants:
– 1 media column per bed
– 1 media column with media supply on both
sides for 2 beds
– 2 media columns for 1 bed.
Configuration example of a frequently selected
care place configuration with 2 media columns for
1 bed:
A = 1 media column on the left
B = 1 media column on the right
In principle, the terminal units are located in the
lower part of the installation plates. Electrical power
sockets are located in the upper part of the
installation plates.
