GETTING STARTED
Use touch screen and/or optional mouse and keyboard to achieve most functions. When
a YELLOW box appears, use the rotary knob or arrow keys on the keyboard to make
changes. Press the rotary knob or Enter key on the keyboard to confirm the change.
Touch the Home key on the monitor to return to waveform view.
INTENDED USE
The Infinity Acute Care System (IACS) is intended for the monitoring of multi‐parameter,
physiological patient information obtained from connected hardware in environments
where patient care is provided by trained healthcare professionals. The IACS is intended
to monitor one patient at a time. It is capable of monitoring the following parameters:
heart rate, arrhythmia (adult and paediatric only), 12‐lead monitoring, ST‐segment
analysis, 12‐lead
ST‐segment analysis (adult and paediatric only), respiratory rate, IBP, NIBP, temperature,
CO, arterial oxygen saturation, SpO2 and etCO2 monitoring.
CONNECTING THE PATIENT
• Prep the patient’s skin, place ECG electrodes appropriately
• Place SpO2 sensor on patient
• Place blood pressure cuff on patient
• Touch anywhere on the monitor screen to begin active patient monitoring
ALARM LEVELS
• High (life‐threatening) alarm flashes red and sounds two alternating tones. L‐T alarms
must be manually silenced. Press the yellow Audio paused fixed key to silence the
alarm. All audible alarm signals are paused for a maximum of 2 minutes.
• Medium (serious) alarm flashes yellow and sounds the same tone twice. A serious
alarm will reset if the cause of the alarm no longer exists.
• Low (advisory) alarm flashes cyan and sounds a single tone. An advisory alarm will
reset if the cause of the alarm no longer exists.

PATIENT SETUP FUNCTIONS
ADMIT
• Touch the Patient Category field on
the blue header bar
• Enter the desired data
CHANGE PATIENT CATEGORY
• Touch the Patient Category field on
the blue header bar
• Select the Patient Category desired
•Press the Rotary Knob to confirm
** Patient category is displayed on
screen**
ACCESS/ACTIVATE PRIVACY SCREEN
• Touch the Quick Access symbol
next to Start/Standby…
• Touch Privacy
• Waveforms & alarms are still
visible/audible at ICS
•Touch the screen to restore bedside
display
** Note: Only available when
connected to Infinity Central Station**
PLACE MONITOR IN STANDBY
• Touch the Quick Access symbol
next to Start/Standby… on the
main menu bar

** All data and settings are retained in
standby while monitoring is suspended **
DISCHARGE
•Touch the Quick Access symbol
next to Start/Standby…
• Touch Discharge
•Touch Discharge to confirm
** This deletes all saved patient
information & settings **

• Touch Trends/Data…
• Touch Trends
• Use the tabs on the right to change
between Table/Graph
•Touch View to change the time

ECG
SHOW ALL LEADS
• Touch the HR parameter box
• Select Show All tab
CHANGE DISPLAYED LEADS
• Touch HR parameter box
• Next to Leads, touch the currently
displayed lead to be changed
• Touch desired lead to be displayed
•Repeat above to change other channels
displayed on the main screen
NIBP
• Touch NIBP parameter box
• Touch Interval Time
• Select the desired time interval
• Press NIBP Start/Stop button to begin
the interval setting
• To stop a measurement press NIBP

SPO2 MONITORING
• Touch SpO2parameter box
• Touch Waveform Size and use the
rotary knob to set appropriately
• Touch Pulse Tone Volume and Tone
Source buttons to activate
ACTIVATE PACEMAKER DETECTION
• Touch HR parameter box
• Touch Settings 2
•Touch Pacer Detection ON
** Note: Pacer Detection is not active when
ESU filter suppression is used **
MASIMO RAINBOW SETTECHNOLOGY
• Touch SpO2 parameter box
• Touch Pulse CO-Ox tab
• Under Parameter Display choose which
value will be the large font by selecting it
in first box. The other two values will be
smaller font
INVASIVE PRESSURES
• Connect hemo pod or cable to M540
• Ensure the transducer adapter cable is
attached to hemo pod
• Attach the transducer to the end of the
adapter cable
• The pressure will automatically appear
when connected
CHANGE IBP LABELS
• Touch the IBP parameter box
• Touch desired IBP tab
•Touch the Label button and select
desired label
ZERO TRANSDUCER
• Turn stoplocks off to patient and open
to air level equal with the phlebostatic
axis (except for ICP monitoring)
• Touch to IBP parameter box
• Touch Zero ->0<- button
CHANGE THE WAVEFORM SCALE
• Touch the IBP parameter box
• Touch desired IBP tab
•Select Scale size desired
ALARM LIMITS
•Touch any Parameter Box on monitor
screen
• Touch the column to be changed
• Utilise the Rotary knob or keyboard
arrows to change
• Press the Rotary knob or Enter to
confirm
•Verify the alarm is On/Off as desired

ARRHYTHMIA
•Touch the Alarms button on the main
menu bar
•Touch Limits tab
•Touch ARR tab on right of page
•Touch arrhythmia to be changed
•Customise type of alarm, rate, count
and
archive function as desired
RECORDINGS
•Touch the Quick Access symbol next to
Trends/Data…
•Touch the Timed Recording button for a
timed R50 strip recording
REPORTS
•Touch Trends/Data tab then Reports
•Select General Reports for all reports
•Select OR Report for a combination of
demographics and gas/agents delivered
together with case timing
•Set up allows choice of reports in a
summary
DRUG CALCULATIONS
•Touch Procedures…
•Touch Drug dosage tab
•Touch Drug calculation tab
•Touch the down arrow button to
choose a drug
•Enter or verify patient weight
•Enter a dose or rate desired
•A chart of the drug calculations will
appear

Alarms… Opens the Alarms dialogue
Mark event Stores an event in the Alarm History
Code Executes pre-configured functions during an emergency
Views… Opens the Views… dialogue window
Freeze Stops all waveforms for 60 seconds
Trends/Data… Opens the Trends/Data… dialogue window
Procedures… Opens the Procedures dialogue window
Sensor Parameters Opens the Sensor Parameters dialogue window
NIBP start/stop Starts or stops an NIBP measurement. The button remains
selected during a measurement. To cancel the measurement,
select the button again
Zero all Zeros all transducers open to air simultaneously
System Setup Opens the System Setup dialog window
Start/Standby… Opens the Start/Standby dialogue window
Home Returns to the main screen and closes any dialogue window

MAIN MENU CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
Your institution may have configured the main menu to allow quicker access to more
frequently used functions. In the table above, all functions listed (on the left) in bold
cannot be changed and will always appear in the main menu. A maximum of 14 function
keys are available.
Any of the following functions may be re-assigned (items not marked in bold); Mark event,
Code, Freeze, NIBP start/stop, Home.
The following functions may be assigned to replace the default function keys:

ECG COLOUR CODES AND PLACEMENT
PATIENT PREPARATION
The quality of an ECG is dependent
on the preparation and the
resistance between the skin and the
electrode. To ensure a good quality
ECG and minimize the skin/
electrode resistance, remember the
following points:
1. Ensure the patient is warm and
relaxed.
2. Shave electrode area before
cleaning, if required.
3. Thoroughly clean the area with
alcohol.
4. Allow skin to dry prior to applying
electrode.
4th right intercostal space at
the sternal border.
4th left intercostal space at the
sternal border.
Midway between position V2 and
position V4.
5th left intercostal space in the
midclavicular line (MCL).
At the anterior axillary line (AAL)
