F EATURES
The POE1230-C is a PoE powered 12V dc power supply with an additional PoE (802.3af) output, while also
possessing battery back-up/charging functionality. Receiving its power remotely from a supplied 50W high
power PoE injector, it eliminates the requirement for mains power at the device location. Using an industry
standard 12V 7Ah VRLA battery it offers standby power in the event of loss of power from the PoE supply,
ideal for critical access control applications. There is space available within the enclosure for installing
customer electronics that can be powered using the available outputs 12V dc @ 1.5A supply and/or 802.3af
PoE connection. Housed in a steel enclosure the POE1230-C offers the installer a unique PoE powered,
battery backed 12V dc / PoE Power Supply.
O PERATION
The POE1230-C obtains its power remotely from the supplied 50W high power PoE injector - Note: The 100m
Cat5e cable limit must be observed for correct operation. Within the unit the PoE input is split to offer a
Power over Ethernet connection (802.3af) in conjunction with a fused 12V dc output (1.5A max); both of
these outputs are backed-up locally by the standby/charging battery capability of the device when
connected to a 12V 7Ah VRLA battery (not supplied). The device has been designed to power access control,
CCTV or general PoE applications where on loss of PoE power the unit will automatically switch to battery
power until input power has been restored or the battery’s voltage has reached the Deep Discharge
Protection limit. The unit also offers a solar panel input (18-36V) if required, which can be used to
compliment the efficiency of the device and therefore reduce running costs.

I NSTALLATION AND S ET -U P
50W PoE Injector Insta ation
1. Mount the injector on a suitable surface using the four available mounting holes.
2. Connect the mains input supply cable.
3. Connect the Cat5/6 input from the network hub or switch to the connector labelled IN.
4. Connect the Cat5/6 PoE output (to the POE1230-C device) to the connector labelled OUT.
Note: Ensure all cable connections are correct, prior to appl ing power to avoid damage to
associated equipment.

1. Mount enclosure securely on a sound surface in correct orientation using the four available
mounting holes.
2. Route network and low voltage output cables via different knockouts and/or rear cable entry
holes.
PoE Charger Connections
Note: Alwa s connect batter first and disconnect last - Do Not Run the unit without the batter
connected.

Note: If the PoE input is present prior to the batter connections being reversed the load fuse will be blown.
Once all connections have been made and checked apply mains power to PoE injector, the green health LED
will illuminate. On the POE1230-C device, the POE LED will illuminate to confirm correct PoE input
connection. The CHA light will also illuminate to confirm the battery is connected correctly and charging; this
will extinguish once the battery is fully charged. LOA will illuminate if there is a 12V dc load connected (max
1.5A).
M AINTENANCE
There is no regular maintenance required for this product. If a short circuit is present on the 12V dc load
output or PoE 802.3af, the output will auto recover once the fault has been cleared. Overload from the load
or battery charging will cause the main T10.0A fuse to blow.

This product falls within the scope of EU Directives 2002/96/EC Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE) and 2006/66/CE (Battery). At the end of life, the product must be separated from the domestic
waste stream and disposed via an appropriate approved WEEE disposal route in accordance with all national
and local regulations.
Before disposal of the product, the battery must be removed, and disposed of separately via an appropriate
approved battery disposal route in accordance with all national and local regulations. Package used batteries
safely for onward transport to your supplier, collection point or disposal facility.
