actuator nameplate information, including Job, Serial, and Model numbers. This allows us to check
records of EIM equipment furnished.

WARNING:
If the actuator is being installed within a hazardous area, take into account that:
• Improper installation in hazardous areas can cause an explosion.
• Assembly, disassembly and maintenance are only allowed at the actuator
when, at the time of the activity, an explosive mixture is not present.

Ifyouractuatorcannotbeinstalled immediately,the followingproceduresaretobe followed.
Thiswill ensureoptimumperformancefromyour2000LPactuator.
Failureto complywithrecommendedprocedurescouldleadtoactuatormalfunction andwill
voidthewarranty.
The2000LP actuatorisan inherentlyweatherproofunit whenshippedfrom thefactory,
providingthatall compartmentcoversandentryplugsremainintact. Theactuatorshould
beimmediatelystoredin aclean,dry warehouse,freefromvibrationandrapidtemperature
changes,untilit canbe installedand commissioned.
Ifthe actuatormustbestoredoutside, itshould bestoredoffoftheground, atanelevation
sufcient to prevent it from being immersed in water or buried in snow, and covered to prevent
damagefrom sitedebris.
Ifnotattachedto avalve,thepreferredorientationiswith themotorand controlcompartment
horizontal.
Ifthe actuatorismountedon avalveand thevalvestemprotrudesfromtheunit,asuitable
stemprotectormustbe installed topreventdrivesleevecorrosion.Stemprotectorsmaybe
purchased fromyourlocal EIMdistributor.
CAUTION:
Condensationormoisture thatentersthe actuatorcandamageinternalcomponents,which
mayultimatelyresultin failures.
(1)Ensure integrity ofgasketsand O-rings.
(2)Sealall conduitopenings,whetherusedornot.
(3)Replaceanyplasticconduitplugswithpipe plugsappropriatefortheapplication.
(4)Placeapacketofdessicantin thecontrolhousingtoabsorbexcessivemoisture.

TheEIM 2000LPpneumaticactuatorfromEmersonisamulti-turnairdrivenactuatorthat
isperfectforapplicationsusinglinearstem,rising stemor rotatingstemvalves. Itcanbe
poweredbyair, nitrogen,ornaturalgasatpressuresbetween60and100psi. Manualcontrols
and/ora numberofremotepneumaticorelectriccontroloptionscanbe providedasshownin
thetable below.

There is a ve digit alpha-numeric code used to describe basic actuator features for computer
assisted order entry. This number appears on the actuator nameplate afxed to the actuator
gear housing. The most signicant designators for a sample 2CLG-AF actuator are shown
below.

The2000LP isbasedon theprovenEIM Series2000platformandsharesmanyofitsdistinctive
features and benets such as direct mounting and handwheel operation during power loss or
emergency situations.
Thethree mostcommonframesizesofEIMactuators,the1000,2000and3000,establishthe
foundationforthe2000LP. Subsequently,mostmajor2000LPmechanicalcomponentsare
interchangeablewith standardEIMelectric actuators,whichfacilitatestheacquisitionofspare
parts.
Thecontrolhousingisalso asharedEIM electriccomponent,resultingin NEMA4, 4Xand IEC
IP66productratingsforthe2000LP. Workingtemperaturerangeislistedat-20/+150°F(-29/
+66°C).

Anannualcheck ofthefollowingitemsshouldbe madeofyourEIM2000LP actuator.
1. Check for any external leaks and tighten ttings appropriately and/or replace failed
components.
2. Checkforinternalcomponentleakagebytestingforthepresenceofair exitingthe
exhaustport(s) whilethe actuatorisnotmoving.
3. Openthecontrolhousingtoinspect andtightenanylooseconnections.
4. Visuallyinspect foranymechanicaldamage. Replacewornordamagedcomponents.
5. Replaceanysealsthatpermitoilleakageor wateringress.
6. Lubricationconsistencyand quantity needstobe checkedonly after3000 cycles
unlesstheactuatorhasbeenleakingoilor makingexcessivenoise. Fillorreplacewith
recommended uid if required .
Lubrication – EIM actuator gear housings are factory lled with a high quality lubricant carefully
selected to ensure proper performance under specied operating conditions. Refer to EIM JOB
SPEC SHEET toidentifythe lubricantprovided. Normaloperationmay not requirelubricant
replacement.
Lubricantlevelinthe gearhousingshouldbe maintainedat thefollowingquantity. Do not
overfill.
• 1000 and 2000 Frame Sizes
(See “product data” section of this manual for determining frame size)
— Oil:54oz(1.54 Liters).Oilis recommendedforall drivesleevespeedsover
51RPM.
— Grease: 3.5lbs(1.58Kg.).Greaseisadequatefordrivesleevespeedsunder
51RPM.
• 3000 Frame Size
— Oil:62oz(1.83 Liters). Greaseisnotrecommendedforusein the3000 Frame

box. EIMfurnishesPressureReliefVentFittingPart No.83385to preventexcessivepressure
build-up. Pressure Relief Vent Fitting placement on the actuator can be determined after eld
locationandpositionof thevalvehavebeendetermined. Selectthe highest1/2NPTvent
locationoftheactuatorgearbox;removethe½ NPTplug andreplacewithPart No.83385.
